Beware that if you step away during ad breaks while watching Sunday’s Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, you may miss a mini-Friends reunion in an Uber Eats ad starring Ross and Rachel — well, actually David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston, playing themselves. Another, actual super-couple appear in the ad when David and Victoria Beckham turn up, as the two try to recall the name of her 90s pop group. So does rapper and singer Jelly Roll, and the minute-long spot closes with the big game’s half-time performer, Usher.
The Super Bowl remains the biggest televised annual event in the U.S., and celebrities have long been a staple of the must-see ads that punctuate the big game. This year, brands are shelling out $7 million per minute to advertise during the NFL’s big game — a price that has doubled since 2012. This year’s...

According to a study commissioned by YouTube, the platform’s creator economy encompassed 425,000 full-time jobs last year and contributed 25 billion to the United States Gdp. In light of numbers like those, Twitch‘s CEO is asking a question: How many of those 425,000 people could benefit from a new job classification?
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Emmett Shear echoed an argument presented by other tech CEOs, including Uber’s Dara Khosrowshahi. He proposed a new type of job contract that can serve as a “third option.” Shear argued that the creator profession “is not quite a W-2 job and it’s not quite a contracting job.” He noted that gig workers could put the third option to good use.
Shear didn’t get into detail about what he thinks the new option would look like. It would theoretically provide benefits to creators who, as independent contractors, lack sufficient healthcare and paid leave.

Uber’s latest fare will come courtesy of the small screen. Showtime is developing a limited series about the ride-sharing company, tapping “Billions” showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien to spearhead the project.
The series is based on the recently-released book, “Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber,” written by New York Times reporter Mike Isaac, who will serve as a co-executive producer on the adaptation. Koppelman and Levien will write and executive produce under their overall deal with Showtime.
Pivoting from Travis Kalanick, Uber’s former CEO who was ousted in a boardroom coup, the Showtime limited series will depict the roller-coaster ride of the upstart transportation company, embodying the highs and lows of Silicon Valley. Even amid the radical upheaval generated within the global tech capital, Uber stands out as both a marvel and a cautionary tale, featuring internal and external battles that ripple with unpredictable consequences.
