In October 2019, she and astronaut Jessica Meir conducted the first all-female spacewalk outside of the International Space Station. The spacewalk lasted seven hours and 17 minutes.
On December 28, 2019 she set a new record for longest single spaceflight by a woman -- 289 days, surpassing the record set by Peggy Whitson, who spent 288 consecutive days in space.
She graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and physics, and a Master of Science in electrical engineering.
