The start of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" was a difficult and tempestuous time. Many Trekkies will be able to tell you the series of events: "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" wasn't the enormous hit that Paramount wanted when the film was released in 1979, and "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry was uninvited from participating in any further sequels. Smarting from the rejection, Roddenberry eventually turned back to TV, developing an all-new "Star Trek" show at the studio's behest. This show was to be the purer version of "Star Trek," complete with Roddenberry's infamous "no infighting between the characters" mandate that so frustrated his writing staff. Roddenberry was also determined to retain as much control as possible over "Next Generation," causing him to butt heads with, well, just about everyone around him.
In brief, in the show's first two years, there was a lot of chaos. One of the show's main cast -- Denise Crosby,...

This post contains spoilers for the season 2 finale of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds."
When Scotty (Martin Quinn) showed up in the season 2 finale of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" this week, chiding Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and LA'an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) for mucking up his Gorn trap, I didn't see it coming. In fact, even as Scotty began explaining the mechanism of the tech he built in an enthusiastic Scottish brogue, it took me a few seconds to process who he was, to connect this man to one of the most beloved characters from "Star Trek: The Original Series." That's because with the Scotty introduction, "Snw" did something it hardly ever does anymore: let a surprise be a surprise.
In the current leak-heavy pop culture landscape, the process of keeping key cameos and twists in franchise films and shows under wraps has all but become a cottage industry in its own right.

Back in 2009, Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson teamed with Julie Plec to develop a series of novels by author L.J. Smith into the television series The Vampire Diaries. After running for eight seasons, The Vampire Diaries wrapped up in 2017 – and if there’s ever an attempt to reboot or revive the show, don’t expect to see Paul Wesley reprise the role of Stefan Salvatore in the new episodes. Speaking with InStyle, Wesley (who played Stefan for the entire 171 episode run) said such a project would get a “hard pass” from him.
Wesley went on to say, “I would never do another vampire anything, period, let alone Vampire Diaries.” When asked if he misses anything about playing Stefan, he answered, “I don’t really miss anything about playing him, and I don’t mean that in a [negative way]. Eight years is a long time, and I’m so glad to put that to rest.

If a new project in The Vampire Diaries universe ever comes to pass, we can count Paul Wesley out.
Wesley played Stefan Salvatore for eight seasons on the hit CW drama but said he'd "hard pass" any potential comeback.
"I would never do another vampire anything, period, let alone Vampire Diaries," the actor explained to InStyle earlier this month.
"I don't really miss anything about playing him, and I don't mean that in a [negative way]," he added.
"Eight years is a long time, and I'm so glad to put that to rest. Eight seasons."
If you watch The Vampire Diaries online, you know that Wesley's arc as Stefan Salvatore culminated with the character perishing to save the town.
The series' final scene showed Stefan reuniting with his brother, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), in the afterlife.
Wesley was fond of his time on the show, but after eight seasons, he isn't interested in a comeback.

Paul Wesley won’t be heading back to Mystic Falls anytime soon — or ever. In fact, the idea of a “Vampire Diaries” reboot is a “hard pass,” the actor said in an interview with InStyle.
What’s more, his brooding blood-sucker days are behind him entirely. “I would never do another vampire anything, period, let alone ‘Vampire Diaries,'” he said.
Currently leading “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” as a young James Tiberius Kirk, the character originated and made legendary TV icon by William Shatner, Wesley starred as Stefan Salvatore on “The Vampire Diaries” for eight seasons between 2009 to 2017. And he’s absolutely ready to lay the character to rest.

When Sol (Sauve Sidle) and Wesley (Siyanda Stillwell) and little Jessie (Giovahnna Gabriel) are late home, Wesley’s mum worries. They’re supposed to tell her where they will be and when. It’s a particular kind of worry which African Americans know well – less for the girl than for two boys who are reaching the age where people might not recognise how young they are, or might decide to ignore it, making them into targets. Sol isn’t her son but he’s been living in her home since his own family fell apart. He’s a sweet kid, very easy to like, and she’s made him her responsibility.
Sol doesn’t really understand this. He’s a at a stage in life where he perceives it as a series of events happening to him rather than choices for which he is fully responsible. He, Wesley and Jessie love rap,...

When you think of James Tiberius Kirk, Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, what words come to mind? Heroic? Brash? Romantic? All of those words apply, thanks to decades’ worth of performances by William Shatner and the younger version Chris Pine played in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek films. With Strange New Worlds season 2, we’ll get yet another take on Kirk, this one courtesy of Paul Wesley. We got a hint of Wesley’s Kirk in the season one finale of Strange New Worlds, but that was from an alternate reality where he never became Captain of the Enterprise.
In a recent press junket (via Trek Movie), Wesley gave a few more details about how his younger Kirk will differ from not only the man he played in season one, but also the Shatner and Pine Kirks we all know so well.

Chris Licht officially exited his position of CEO at CNN on Wednesday morning and, for many online, it was no big surprise. A fairly large swath of folks on Twitter actually dubbed it “karma” for Licht’s firing of CNN anchor Don Lemon.
Licht’s one-year tenure as CEO and Chairman of CNN Worldwide was turbulent from start to finish, with a disastrous Donald Trump town hall and an unflattering profile in The Atlantic finally breaking staff morale. Upon learning that Licht’s exit is effective immediately, Twitter users suspected that Lemon might be off somewhere celebrating the ouster of the man who ousted him in April.
“Somewhere Don Lemon is laughing his ass off about Chris Licht,” one person wrote. “Karma does work.”

Lucknow, May 27 (Ians) Chitkara University blanked out Chandigarh University 3-0, and Srm University thrashed Bengal’s Adamas University with a similar score in their respective finals of the Khelo India University Games 2022 at the Bbd Badminton Hall here on Saturday.
Though the winners from the North have retained the men’s team trophy without breaking a sweat, the team from the South made history by winning their maiden title in Kiug 2022, eroding the base of Adamas from the East, winner of gold in the last edition held in Bengaluru.
In the final of the men’s team competition, Yashansh Malik provided the impetus with a 3-1 win over Chandigarh varsity’s Divyansh Srivastava in the first rubber. Both executed their shots well. But the tall Yashansh negotiated well, and his placements proved apt. Even the long rallies were of no avail, as the Chitkara paddler won.

This post contains spoilers for Star Trek: Picard.
To be sure, Star Trek: Picard season three pulled off something of a magic trick, bringing back not only the main cast of The Next Generation but also featuring surprising cameos. But by the time the credits rolled on the final episode, there was one main character conspicuously missing from the original lineup of Tng characters: Wesley Crusher.
Wesley’s absence from Picard season three seemed particularly glaring given the overall plot of those final 10 episodes, in which Picard and company go on a spacefaring trip to rescue Beverly Crusher and her son Jack. It’s a mission somewhat familiar to the once and future crew of the Enterprise-d, as they did the same a few times for Beverly’s firstborn, Wesley.

Despite the cancellation of Netflix's "Daredevil" way back in 2018, Marvel Studios didn't let Ol' Hornhead slip through the cracks. Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and we eventually saw him suit up as Daredevil in "She-Hulk." Meanwhile, Matt's arch-rival Wilson Fisk/the Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) appeared in "Hawkeye." These were all seeds that will finally sprout with "Daredevil: Born Again," set for release on Disney+ in 2024.
Keep in mind, this series is probably not going to be an adaptation of the eponymous Frank Miller/David Mazzucchelli comic story, mainly since season 3 of the Netflix series already covered that ground. Still, the title is too fitting to not use for a revival series (even if Cox insists "Born Again" will stand on its own). What direction will the story of "Born Again" take? If the writers pull from more recent comics, then Wilson Fisk may soon become Mayor Fisk.

"Star Trek: Picard" Season 3 is in the books, and it may stand not only as one of the best "Star Trek" seasons ever, but also, if we count it as a 10-hour movie, it's the next "Next Generation" movie by a longshot, and the one we needed all this time. Movies like "Generations" and "First Contact" didn't give us time to miss the show the way the original gap between TV and movies had, but now, it's been a long time getting from there to here since all the old gang were together, and it's a beautiful reunion. Cuz they've got faaaaaith .. .of the heeeaaaaaart! Ahem. Wrong "Star Trek" show.
With every original main character from "Tng" aboard and some new and returning faces, this season balanced a lot of key characters. Some of them were handled much better than others; it's hard not to notice the way the new...

It has previously been written in the pages of /Film that Dr. Beverly Crusher, played by actor Gates McFadden on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," rarely got her due. Apart from a scant few episodes where she served as the protagonist, her arc as a character was disappointingly flat, leaving her nowhere to grow and no dramatic struggles to face. The reasons for this are clear: Dr. Crusher had her s*** together. She was adult, mature, capable, and complete. From day one, her personal ethics were well-formed and she was staunchly unwilling to compromise. Writers, it seems, didn't know how to construct stories for someone who was more or less complete from the start, so they often relegated Dr. Crusher to a supporting player in other characters' dramas.
The best ongoing arc Dr. Crusher was granted was her constant near-miss romance with Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart). The two were clearly attracted to one another,...

"Star Trek: Picard" has officially come to an end, closing out with a warm and wonderful scene of Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Michael Dorn, Marin Sirtis, Gates McFadden, LeVar Burton, and Brent Spiner hanging out in a bar, playing poker, and shooting the breeze. This was their moment of reunion and relaxation after an elaborate scheme involving Changelings, the Borg, and mysterious X-Men-like brain powers that Picard passed on to his son Jack (Ed Speleers), a son he didn't know about for the past 20 years. After all was said and done, Picard (Stewart) accepted that he was Jack's father, and he and Dr. Crusher (McFadden) seemed to have worked out their long-standing personal acrimony.

There’s also the return of James T. Kirk, who is played by Paul Wesley and was introduced as a guest star during season one. Wesley is billed as a recurring guest star in the new season.

"Star Trek: Picard" swung for the fences with its third season by bringing back the original crew from "Star Trek: The Next Generation," including Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton), Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Worf (Michael Dorn), and even Data (Brent Spiner). It was a play on nostalgia that at the very least gave a lot of "Next Generation" fans the opportunity to give their favorite characters a proper goodbye, as opposed to whatever that was in "Star Trek: Nemesis." Before they signed on, however, the stars probably had plenty of reservations about resurrecting these roles after so many years. Some, like Frakes, have been active in the contemporary "Star Trek" canon, directing episodes of "Star Trek: Lower Decks" and "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," but others had to decide whether they really wanted to step back into their Starfleet uniforms.

With "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" set to take flight for at least two more seasons, it's likely we'll be seeing more of Paul Wesley's Captain Kirk in the future. The actor appeared in the season finale of the pre-"Star Trek: The Original Series" era show to play a version of Kirk from a timeline that didn't come to pass, delivering wisdom to Captain Pike (Anson Mount), but also acting more impulsively than his gregarious predecessor may have on his own. While there's no telling how much this potential future Kirk has in common with the actual Kirk, who's still a young lieutenant during the series' main timeline, he nonetheless made a memorable first impression thanks to the "The Vampire Diaries" star's turn in the captain's chair.
Wesley has spoken often in interviews about his characterization of Kirk, which (thankfully) doesn't come across at all like a William Shatner impression,...

Clone High was easily one of my favourite animated shows, but the series was cancelled in 2003 after just thirteen episodes. Now, twenty years later, the clones are back! HBO Max has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Clone High revival, which features the return of Abe, Joan, Cleo, JFK, and a few new faces.
The original Clone High series was created by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Bill Lawrence, all of whom have returned for the revival. Dubbed a “modern refresh” of the original series, Clone High is “set at a high school for clones of historical figures. After a high school that was secretly being run as an elaborate military experiment to clone the greatest minds in history was put on ice, the clones have been thawed out 20 years later to resume the experiment with new clone classmates – all while navigating a new set of cultural norms and overly dramatic teen relationships.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of hits like "21 Jump Street" as well as the producers of "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," are at the top of the food chain in Hollywood these days -- but it wasn't always that way. Earlier on in their careers, when they were green, they made a little animated show called "Clone High" for MTV that, despite gaining critical acclaim and a loving audience, lasted just one season. Now though, the show is coming back on HBO Max, and we've got a brand new teaser trailer for the revival of this cult classic.
Lord and Miller have put their powers to use to bring back their beloved series, with original voice actors Will Forte and Nicole Sullivan returning as well. Lord is also back as Scudworth, Miller as JFK and Mr. B, Christa Miller as Candide Sampson, Donald Faison as George Washington Carver, and Judah Miller as Scangrade.

Long before Phil Lord and Christopher Miller became household names with "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and Bill Lawrence took the sitcom world by storm with "Ted Lasso," the trio was responsible for a controversial animated comedy that lasted just one season. "Clone High" was a wild idea; a high-concept animated MTV sitcom about a high school full of clones of famous people that also served as a parody of teen shows at the time, it ultimately went off the air after its depiction of a clone of Gandhi inspired a hunger strike in India, according to Grantland.
Despite its short shelf life and bumpy history, "Clone High" achieved a bit of a cult status after it ended, and now, it's set to return with a stellar new cast and a few fan favorites. A first look at the upgraded version of the series debuted at WonderCon, where stars Nicole Sullivan...

Should there be more doppelgängers in the future? Read on to see what our round table team thinks.
Do you enjoy these documentary-style episodes? Do you hope they do more of them or never do them again?
Denis: They have grown on me. The first time they did it, I thought it was too corny, but I enjoyed this latest one a lot. However, I think that one per season is enough.
Jasmine: Not really. Sometimes they're funny, but overall, I feel like they've gotten carried away with them. I always check out during them at best or get annoyed by them at worse.

The Vampire Diaries‘ Stefan and Damon Salvatore could relish in glasses of whiskey but Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley can’t say the same about tea.
The duo is opening up about the “most insane anxiety issues” they faced while filming season one of the Julie Plec- and Kevin Williamson-created series due to all the caffeine that they were drinking. During a party Tuesday for the pair’s whiskey brand Brother’s Bond Bourbon and the Tennis Channel, they told Page Six that they drank a lot of iced tea in scenes where it was supposed to appear they were drinking whiskey.
The Star Trek: Strange New Worlds actor, who played Stefan on The CW’s hit show that ran for eight seasons, recalled drinking an ample amount of tea “take after take” on set.

There is no way to deny that acting in a television show takes great talent. The actor has to become someone else, adapting to a different personality altogether, and on the popular show, The Vampire Diaries, Ian Somerhalder was able to do just that in his role as Damon Salvatore.
It turns out that Somerhalder is pretty multitalented since he didn’t only act in the show but directed a few episodes as well. Now, we have learned that Kat Graham, who portrayed Bonnie Bennett on The Vampire Diaries, loved working with Somerhalder as a director.

Owen and Andrea are the dynamic duo I didn't realize we needed.
As the doting, loving parents of T.K. and Carlos, obsessed with planning the perfect wedding for them on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 8, it's enough to make you long for more storylines that directly involve the Strand and Reyes family.
And catching up with Marjan on the road was such an adventure!
It was another installment that was light on emergency calls and most of the cast, but this time, it didn't feel quite as frustrating because the continuity was strong enough, and things flowed.
The emergency call with Wesley and his father was a heck of a way to kickstart the installment. And their rescue was something out of Operation.
Kevin set the tone for an hour full of control freaks, whether they were well-meaning, like Owen, or abusive, like Grant.

Hackers seem to be getting the upper hand more and more these days and the fictitious Payne Motors on NBC’s “American Auto” is no exception. This Star Trek article contains spoilers for Picard season 3.
Between 1966 and 2005, Star Trek fans were introduced to the franchise’s first five leads: James T. Kirk in The Original Series, Jean-Luc Picard in The Next Generation, Benjamin Sisko of Deep Space Nine, Voyager‘s Kathryn Janeway, and Jonathan Archer from Enterprise.
Archer has not been seen since the end of Enterprise because that show’s storyline ended just over 100 years before Kirk’s mission began (though his Kelvinverse counterpart was apparently long-lived enough for Scotty to beam his beagle into space). But Kirk has appeared in two later series — the original spin-off, The Animated Series, in the 1970s, and more recently in Strange New Worlds, plus of course the Kelvinverse films. Janeway is a recurring character in Prodigy, which functions almost as a sequel series to Voyager, and Picard got his own spinoff named after him, with a third and...
