Nonna Gleyzer
- Additional Crew
One of the most renowned celebrity fitness instructors in the country, Nonna Gleyzer's Pilates Method has transformed, sculpted and fine-tuned some of Hollywood's most beautiful bodies including Gisele Bundchen, Natalie Portman, Stacy Keibler and Kerry Washington and been featured in various international publications including Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Shape, Marie Claire, Women's Health, WWD and People.
Often referred to as a "body stylist" and wizard for the custom-tailored workouts she creates for each of her clients to restore health and prevent and rehabilitate chronic injuries, her unique and innovative method has taken Pilates to the next level.
Born and raised in the Ukraine, Nonna began her training in gymnastics at the age of six when she was discovered by the Ukraine Rhythmic Gymnasts Academy in her hometown of Lwow, quickly becoming one of her country's young Olympic hopefuls. At ten she was invited to become a member of the prestigious Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, and was awarded the Master of Sport in Rhythmic Gymnastics when she was fourteen. However, after years of extensive training and competition, Nonna suffered a severe, career-ending back injury during a routine practice. It was this life-transforming event that motivated her to professionally shift gears, with a career goal of not only helping people look and feel their very best, but aiding in healing and injury prevention as well.
Trained and certified by Romana Kryzonowka, "The Grande Dame of Pilates", herself, Gleyzer also holds a BA in Physiology and specializes in preventive injury and rehabilitation.
Aside from her private clients, Gleyzer's philanthropic nature has driven her to volunteer as a rehabilitation and strength trainer for the Israeli Olympic Gymnastics team as well as the Chaka Khan Foundation, where she has assisted at-risk youth that showed athletic potential. Needing a safe haven for her high profile clients, she opened the doors of her exclusive Los Angeles studio, Body By Nonna, in November 2008.
