Pulsar Content has boarded “Mikado,” a heartwarming family film written and directed by Baya Kasmi, who previously directed “Iʼm All Yours” and “The (in)famous Youssef Salem.”
“Mikado” is produced by Karé Production (“The Presidentʼs Wife”) and Films Grand Huit (“Disco Boy”). The film stars Felix Moati (“No Manʼs Land”) alongside Ramzy Bedia (“Donʼt Die Too Hard!”) and Vimala Pons (“Vincent Must Die”), who previously worked with Kasmi.
Pulsar Content will be launching international sales at the European Film Market with an exclusive promo-reel.
The film follows Mikado and Laetitia, who lead an alternative lifestyle aboard a van with their home-schooled children Nuage and Zephir. One day, their van breaks down, forcing them to lead a somewhat “normal” life over summer.
“We immediately fell in love with Bayaʼs script,” said Pulsar Content co-founders Gilles Sousa and Marie Garrett. “It is both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, and a wonderful role for Felix Moati.

Johnson plays a young African-American Civil War reenactor freshly out of jail, who learns that the lives of her estranged parents are at risk and tries to help them by robbing a bank.
In her botched robbery attempt, she takes a hostage named Franny (Van Dien), who turns out to be a charmingly impulsive pregnant teenager with nothing left to lose.

Next up in our predictions list is a filmmaker tandem that gave us micro indie Swim Little Fish Swim – which was selected as a competition entry at SXSW in 2013. I remember getting Miranda July vibes from this sweet-natured film with heart. A full decade later, Ruben Amar and Lola Bessis re-teamed on Silver Star – which works within a completely different genre vibes. Production on the sophomore project would have taken place in New Jersey and Kentucky in October of 2022 in Grace Van Dien and Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson topline the crime road-trip type film.

There's a killer on the loose, and they're totally rocking the '80s. Like, seriously!
Amazon Prime Video's newest slasher, Totally Killer, is a sci-fi horror-comedy that takes what we love of the '80s and mixes it with a time travel twist. Think of it like a mix of Happy Death Day and Scream but in a B-movie VHS tape.
Compared to those two slashers having a solid point of view, Totally Killer was just another slasher on the block. It was a bloody, fun ride, albeit a messy one with its B-horror movie characters and inconsistent plot.
Totally Killer captures the exaggerated tone of the '80s, especially in campy horror flicks. Plenty of big hair, big colors, and bigger personalities make up the world.
But what helps the movie stand out is the self-aware nature of Jamie Hughes (played by Kiernan Shipka of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina...

If you mixed Back to the Future and Halloween, or if The Final Girls had involved traveling in time instead of into a movie, the results might be something like Totally Killer. It’s a time traveling spoof of slasher movies from Blumhouse who already visited this territory with Happy Death Day and its sequel.
The fact it was from Blumhouse was just one of the reasons I debated watching Totally Killer. It was directed by Nahnatchka Khan who is best known for Always Be My Maybe and Young Rock and had no genre experience. Similarly, the three writers David Matalon, Sasha Perl-Raver (Let’s Get Married) and Jen D’Angelo were lacking in that regard as well. But since it...

We just can’t get over the 80s. And with killer music, killer movies, and killer… killers – why would we? Totally Killer, directed by Nahnatchka Khan, catapults us right back into that beloved decade. It’s a time-traveling adventure that takes us on a wild ride from the present day back to the neon-soaked, cassette-playing era of the 1980s. With a blend of suspense, comedy, and a generous dose of nostalgia, the film offers a fresh and funny take on the slasher genre, adding a fun whodunit twist that’ll keep you guessing ’till 2023.

The time travel slasher comedy Totally Killer is scheduled to begin streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video on October 6th, but today, one week out from the release, the marketing department has unveiled a clip from the film that I would have deemed too much of a Spoiler to show off. But showing it off they are, so I have embedded it above. This scene shows the masked murderer know as the Sweet 16 Killer crossing paths with Liana Liberato from Scream VI, but if you don’t want to know how that encounter turns out, avert your eyes.
Nahnatchka Khan (Always Be My Maybe) directed Totally Killer from a screenplay by Hocus Pocus 2 writer Jen D’Angelo, based on an original script by David Matalon (The Clearing) and Sasha Perl-Raver (Let’s Get Merried). Prime Video and Blumhouse Television have revealed the red band trailer for the upcoming slasher comedy ‘Totally Killer.’
Thirty-five years after the shocking murder of three teens, the infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer“ returns on Halloween night to claim a fourth victim.
Seventeen-year-old Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) ignores her overprotective mom’s (Julie Bowen) warning and comes face-to-face with the masked maniac and, on the run for her life, accidentally time travels back to 1987, the year of the original killings. Forced to navigate the unfamiliar and outrageous culture of the 1980s, Jamie teams up with her teen mom (Olivia Holt) to take down the killer once and for all, before she’s stuck in the past forever.
Directed by Nahnatchka Khan, Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt, Charlie Gillespie, Lochlyn Munro, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Liana Liberato, Kelcey Mawema, Stephi Chin-Salvo, Anna Diaz, Ella Choi, Jeremy Monn-Djasgnar, Nathaniel Appiah and Jonathan Potts with Randall Park and Julie Bowen star.

Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is zapped back to 1987 and the weird fashion choices that come with dipping your toes in the late ’80s in the trailer for Prime Video and Blumhouse’s Totally Killer. It's tough to imagine a more challenging job these days than to come up with an original, high-concept movie involving time travel. For one thing, the industry is pretty much drowning in scripts relying on this tried-and-true gimmick, making it that much more difficult to separate oneself from the rest of the pack. For another, any project will be doomed from the start with comparisons to all-time classics like "Back to the Future," "Groundhog Day," and more. So what's a filmmaker to do? The trailer for the upcoming Prime Video and Blumhouse movie, "Totally Killer," suggests one possible approach: embrace the high expectations, fully lean into the self-aware humor, and go as far as the clever script and killer cast will take you.
In what can only be described as "Back to the Future" meets "The Final Girls" with a pinch of "Happy Death Day," the premise of "Totally Killer...

Marking a continuation of Prime Video’s partnership with Blumhouse Television, forged in 2019, the film watches as the infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer” returns on Halloween night, 35 years after their shocking murder of three teens, to claim a fourth victim. 17-year-old Jamie (Shipka) ignores her overprotective mom’s (Julie Bowen) warning and comes face-to-face with the masked maniac and, on the run for her life, accidentally time travels back to 1987, the year of the original killings. She’s then forced to navigate the unfamiliar and outrageous culture of the 1980s, teaming up with a teenage version of her mom (Olivia Holt) to take down the killer once and for all, before she’s stuck in the past forever.

Totally Killer sounds quite a bit like the brilliant slasher-comedy The Final Girls, similarly transporting characters back in time and putting them inside of a classic 80s slasher setup.
The film is a continuation of the deal forged by Blumhouse and Amazon Studios in 2019 and will star Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Mad Men), Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer), Julie Bowen (Modern Family, Life of the Party), and Randall Park (Always Be My Maybe, Fresh off the Boat). Thirteen months ago, we learned that Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer) had signed on to star in the time travel slasher Totally Killer for Blumhouse. Now the Motion Picture Association has confirmed that their ratings board has given Totally Killer an R rating for “bloody violence, language, sexual material, and teen drug/alcohol use“… which is pretty much what I would expect to see in a slasher.
Nahnatchka Khan (Always Be My Maybe) directed the film from a screenplay by Hocus Pocus 2 writer Jen D’Angelo, based on an original script by David Matalon (The Clearing) and Sasha Perl-Raver (Let’s Get Merried). The story follows Jamie (Shipka) whose mom, Pam, is terrorized by the resurgence of the Sweet Sixteen Killer — a masked maniac that slaughtered a group of teenage girls in the ‘80s. Amazon Prime Video and Blumhouse Television are teaming up for a new slasher-comedy starring Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt, Julie Bowen and Randall Park.
“Totally Killer” follows Shipka’s Jamie, whose mom Pam (Bowen) is terrorized by the resurgence of the Sweet Sixteen Killer — a masked maniac that slaughtered a group of teenage girls in the ‘80s. With the help of her friend Amelia (Kelcey Mawema), she travels back in time to 1987 and teams up with the teen version of her mom (Holt) to try and stop the killer.
“We thought this genre mash-up of slasher/comedy with a twist of time travel was just so fun, and Nahnatchka Khan is perfect to direct,” said Chris McCumber, president of Blumhouse Television.
Jen D’Angelo is penning the screenplay based on an original script by David Matalon and Sasha Perl-Raver. Production begins Thursday in Vancouver.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Big Sky Season 2 Episode 5 “Mother Nurture.”] The November 11 episode of the ABC drama Big Sky has plenty of action. It opens with the show’s two heroines Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) and Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) being shot at by drug cartel member Donno (Ryan O’Nan), while teenagers Max (Madeline Keintz), Harper (Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson), Bridger (Jeremy Ray Taylor) and Madison (Lola Skye Reid) try to escape dirty cop Deputy Harvey. One character not involved in all of this, however, is Jerrie (Jesse James Keitel) – Season 1’s kidnapping victim who now works with Cassie as a private investigator. She gets her own significant story arc this episode when her estranged father (Jeff Kober) shows up, and says that her mom has cancer. The result is that she leaves at the end of the episode in what’s being positioned as the character’s exit, although Jerrie and her father ...

Spoiler Alert: The following story contains details from the Season 2 premiere of ABC’s Big Sky.
A couple of major twists and compelling new mysteries presented themselves in Big Sky‘s Season 2 opener, which saw John Carroll Lynch return from beyond the TV grave. In an interview with Deadline, the SAG Award winner confirmed the identity of his new character and teased his storyline.
As the episode titled “Wakey, Wakey” opens, the primary antagonist of Season 1, sex trafficking trucker Ronald (Brian Geraghty), is on the lam. Private detective Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) is still recovering from the gunshot wound inflicted during his escape, and like her colleague Cassie (Kylie Bunbury), remains intent on taking him down. While Cassie distracts herself with work at Dewell & Hoyt, hoping for a clue that will bring her to Ronald, Cassie visits Sheriff Tubb (Patrick Gallagher) to inform him that she wants to rejoin the force.

Emma has recently moved in with her cousin Taylor after her father’s untimely death. The victim of a prank by Taylor’s friends, Emma ups the ante by planning to scare the mysteriously reclusive girl who lives across the street. All they know is Julie’s alone and the house is rumoured haunted after a little boy vanished years ago. But what starts off as a simple plan becomes a nightmare of wrong choices with horrific results..
Filmed in long continuous takes, with only the odd cut (Not the one-take many are advertising it as), Let’s Scare Julie uses that particular gimmick to great effect – the handheld camera following around the girls without cutting away (most of the time) brings a great deal of claustrophobia to the proceedings.

Kitted out with a killer cast of unknowns and a unique(ish) shooting gimmick, Let’s Scare Julie does an awful lot with very little. It’s about as straight-forward as hauntings get: five teenage girls, one house, and a particularly eerie score, with a few extra cast members thrown in for the occasional bump or jump. And with a roving camera that seemingly never cuts, there’s something fascinatingly tense and cinematic about just how bare-bones the whole thing is.
Especially when you realise that the Julie in question isn’t actually one of our leads at all, but a mysterious neighbour who’s about to get pranked. It’s a prank that we never actually see, but get the feeling didn’t go down as well as the girls might’ve been expecting. Instead we stay with outsider Emma (Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson) as the fallout turns to terror,...

When you're a teenager, life comes at you fast. Difficult social and moral choices sometimes have to be made in the blink of an eye, with little experience to ground them in and all sorts of peer pressure affecting your choices. Jud Cremata's feature début unspools as a single sequence - not quite one take, as there are brief cutaways to phones which probably cover for crew movements or difficulties in the edit - capturing this sense of urgency in what may be the last night of Emma's life.
Emma (Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson) lives with her little sister Lily (Dakota Baccelli) in a large suburban house. Across the street is a house with a sinister reputation. It's inhabited by the titular Julie, whom she knows very little about. In the absence of facts, fantasy flourishes. Julie's story has become tangled up with urban legends and ghost stories, just the sort of.

You’ve heard of the Babysitter’s Club, but have you heard of The Order of the Babysitters? It’s the super secret society babysitting society at the heart of Netflix‘s upcoming family horror film: A Babysitter’s Guide To Monster Hunting. The streamer just dropped the trailer for the film, which features Harry Potter’s Tom Felton as a very creepy nightmare man, aka Boogeyman, who kidnaps teenage protagonist Kelly’s (Tamara Smart) babysitting charge and promises to “unleash your nightmares on the world.” Yikes! We've been excited for A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting ever since we spoke with writer Joe Ballarini (who also wrote the killer zombie prom movie Dance of the Dead) about the film adaptation of his book trilogy back in 2017, and now the wait is nearly over, as the official trailer for the film has been unveiled ahead of its October 14th release on Netflix.
Directed by Rachel Talalay from a screenplay by Ballarini, A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting stars Tamara Smart, Oona Laurence, Alessio Scalzotto, Ian Ho, Tamsen McDonough, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Lynn Masako Cheng, Ty Consiglio, Ashton Arbab, Crystal Balint, Ricky He, with Indya Moore, and Tom Felton.
"When high school freshman Kelly Ferguson (Tamara Smart) reluctantly agrees to babysit Jacob Zellman (Ian Ho) on Halloween, the last thing she expects is to be recruited into an international secret society of babysitters who protect kids with special powers from monsters.

"Let's get monster hunting!" Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for a fun adventure horror comedy called A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting, a new movie from the director of Tank Girl! Adapted from the popular scary book series of the same name. A young babysitter is recruited into a secret monster hunting society and embarks on a mission to bring back a child she is babysitting who's been abducted by monsters. Tamara Smart (seen in Artemis Fowl and "The Worst Witch") stars in this as Kelly, and the full cast includes Oona Laurence, Alessio Scalzotto, Ian Ho, Tamsen McDonough, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Lynn Masako Cheng, Ty Consiglio, Ashton Arbab, Crystal Balint, Ricky He, along with Indya Moore and Tom Felton. This is described as an "action-packed adventure about working together to overcome your fears" and looks like Harry Potter + Men in Black + monsters. Which seems like good fun.
