The Drake-Kendrick Lamar showdown will continue — at the 2024 BET Awards.
The rappers will compete in two categories at the June 30 show: best male hip-hop artist and best collaboration. In the latter category, Drake is nominated for “Rich Baby Daddy” with Sza and Sexyy Red, while Lamar is nominated for his guest verse on the remix of Beyoncé’s “America Has a Problem.”
Drake is the show’s top contender with seven nominations, thanks to his album For All the Dogs (Scary Hours Edition). Lamar didn’t release an album that was eligible this year. The Canadian rapper’s other nominations include album of the year, best male R&b/pop artist and viewer’s choice for “Rich Baby Daddy.” He’s nominated twice in the video of the year category: “Rich Baby Daddy” and his guest verse on J. Cole’s “First Person Shooter,” the late 2023 track that reignited his feud with Lamar.

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

While Isabella shares much of her documented health journey through her YouTube channel, she also posts clips to her TikTok.

Isabella backed away from her camera shot and stood up, giving an “I don’t know” type pose, just as Tiller appeared in the background and walked closer to the camera.
As she got closer to look into the camera view, Isabella showed her excitement with dance moves and a mock scream. Tiller also smiled and danced a bit to his song in the background.

Champagne Papi is at it again: On March 5, Drake’s Instagram story made the rounds, this time for the news that he’d be remixing viral crooner 4batz’s “act ii: date @ 8.” The song sounds like the sort of late-night-vibe, hip-hop-adjacent, alternative R&b popularized by acts like 6lack, Brent Faiyaz, and Bryson Tiller at its most minimalist. “Five hunnid for your fuckin’ hair, two hunnid for your fuckin’ nails,” 4batz sings to someone he affectionately (?) calls “bitch” on the song that’s mostly hook. My three-year-old has a conundrum. She loves “Paw Patrol,” but the franchise’s first feature film (2021) opens on a baby turtle in distress. The little guy ends up Ok, of course (this is an animated children’s movie after all), but it caused enough trauma to effectively ban screenings in our house. That would be perfectly fine with me, except for the fact that “Paw Patrol: The Movie” is significantly more tolerable than “Paw Patrol” the series
Our trip to see “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” was always going to be a gamble. Averse to risk, my wife and I bought insurance in the form of popcorn, Reese’s Pieces, and Twizzlers. And it worked — until it didn’t.
The theater was predictably packed for the 4:15 p.m. showing on its opening Saturday; “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” would win the weekend by what IndieWire box-office reporter Tom Brueggemann called a “healthy” margin.

Sunday Am Final: Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie is lapping up $23M, a big win for Paramount and Spin Master, as the picture is part of a $14 billion global retail franchise which both companies get a nice cut from. And successful movies drive toy sales. It was part of Brian Robbins’ plan when he took over the top job at Paramount Pictures Studios to have family brands work at the box office, which also have a rainfall of cash in merchandise, particularly in an entertainment conglomerate that counts the powerful, and evergreen Nickelodeon brand. EntTelligence says Paw Patrol 2 drew 2.3M admissions, with close to half of the pic’s tickets being sold at child pricing.

Heading into the 2023 Video Music Awards, all eyes were on Taylor Swift, and she delivered. Swift swept the live awards show, winning all four of her categories that were announced during the live MTV broadcast.
Out of the 11 nominations Swift received, she won in all categories but two. Song of the Summer went to Jung Kook ft. Latto for “Seven,” and Olivia Rodrigo won Best Editing for “vampire.” Neither of these categories were presented during the live broadcast of the awards show.
But the rest — which included best pop, song of the year, best direction, artist of the year, show of the summer, album of the year, best visual effects, best cinematography and the highly coveted video of the year — all went to Swift. In fact, Swift’s Video of the Year award marks the fourth time the singer and songwriter has received this award, the most of any artist in VMAs history.

Taylor Swift is heading into the 2023 Video Music Awards poised to break her own record. With the nomination of “Anti-Hero” for Video of the Year, Swift may be the first artist to ever win the honor four times, beating the record she set just last year.
To date, Swift is the only artist to win MTV’s Video of the Year on three separate occasions. In 2022, she took home the honor for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version).” In 2015, she won for “Bad Blood (featuring Kendrick Lamar),” and in 2019 she won for “You Need to Calm Down.”
Video of the Year is far from the only nomination Swift received. The singer and songwriter was nominated in eight categories altogether, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Editing.
