Dean has worked for two US President's and the Speaker of the US House of Representatives. He was a government investigator, welfare fraud auditor, and Federal Budget Director. While living on a boat, he placed 3rd out of 5 in an election for Mayor of Redondo Beach. He was twice a candidate for election to the AT&T Board of Directors. He was a Ski Instructor in New Hampshire, and skied in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics (he was not officially on a racing team). He has bicycled in 49 states, 22 countries and 3 continents. He raced 7 years in a row in the Pier to Pier open ocean swim; he swims next to wild dolphins and once a baby Humpback Whale in California, and recently survived a stingray attack. He served as a Public Radio Announcer on NPR's KCRW Radio.
