Cobra Kai season 6: Netflix announces premiere dates for 15 episode, 3 part conclusion to the series
Production on the sixth and final season of the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai, a continuation of the Karate Kid film franchise, was delayed several months due to the writers and actors strikes last year – but the extended wait is going to be worth it, because Netflix has just announced that the show is wrapping up with a 15 episode season (previous seasons consisted of 10 episodes), and they’re splitting the episodes up to make it a three part event! As they put it, “The end of a legacy… deserves a Grand Finale.” They’ve also revealed premiere dates: Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 1 premieres July 18, 2024. Part 2 premieres November 28, 2024. The Finale Event comes in 2025.
I’m hyped to finally have premiere dates for most of the episodes, because this show has become one of my all-time favorites over the course of the previous five seasons. I grew up on the Karate Kid movies and always enjoyed them,...

And you thought waiting for the back half of a “Stranger Things” season was agonizing. Netflix is splitting the final season of “Cobra Kai,” Season 6, into three parts.
You read that right. Though it has become commonplace for Netflix to divide new seasons of its biggest hits into two parts, this is the first time the streamer has split a season (of any series) into thirds. The next-up example of a hit Netflix original being halved is mere weeks away. The eight-episode “Bridgerton” Season 3 will premiere the first four on May 16 and the back half on June 13.
“Cobra Kai” Season 6, Part 1 premieres on July 18, 2024; Part 2 premieres November 28, 2024; and finally, Part 3 (dubbed “The Finale Event”) will have to wait for 2025. We do not yet have a specific date for the final one-third.

The number of actors the Netflix TV series Cobra Kai has brought back to reprise their characters from the Karate Kid films has been very impressive. Not only do you have Ralph Macchio and William Zabka back as Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence, but there’s also Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith as villains John Kreese and Terry Silver, Yuji Okumoto and Sean Kanan as villains-turned-allies Chozen Toguchi and Mike Barnes; Ron Thomas, Rob Garrison, and Tony O’Dell as Johnny’s former Cobra Kai buddies; and appearances by Elisabeth Shue as Ali Mills, Tamlyn Tomita as Kumiko, and Robyn Lively as Jessica Andrews. They even brought Traci Toguchi back as Yuna, the “Girl Bell Ringer” she played in The Karate Kid Part II. But one actor who might not be returning from the films is Hilary Swank, who played Julie Pierce in the 1994 film The Next Karate Kid.

Much like Daniel Larusso went from underdog to All-Valley karate champion, "Cobra Kai" has gone from a legasequel no one asked for or had too much faith in, to one of Netflix's biggest hits. The TV sequel to "Karate Kid" became a shining beacon amidst the fast-decaying YouTube Red streaming platform, offering a thrilling, compelling, and endlessly watchable story with complex characters and a fascinating story of legacy, rivalry, and generational patterns. All of this wrapped in a juicy karate-themed soap opera where everything and everyone revolved around the martial art.
When the show made the jump to Netflix, it became the closest thing to a live-action anime that we've got. Somehow, just like the "John Wick" movies revealed that the entire planet revolves around hitmen, "Cobra Kai" does the same with karate. Gangs are formed around competing dojos, no one seems to call the cops even when houses...

“Cobra Kai never dies” – that may be true, but all good things must come to an end, including the hit Netflix show that announced the upcoming sixth season will be its last. The series that has quickly become a cult classic (just like the original film) centers around the premise of karate and the two different styles/variations of the martial art that Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) teach to their students. Despite airing more than thirty years after the original movie premiered, Cobra Kai has risen to be one of Netflix’s top shows of all time and will be sorely missed by it’s beloved fans.
Despite the inevitable disappointment from fans who would love to see the series continue on, audiences can rest assured knowing that the sixth and final season will be bigger and better than all the others, as promised by the shows creators.

Despite what series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg call “bittersweet” news, they did tease a possible continuation of the franchise “down the line.”

“Are you a bad boy?” asks the voice on the other end of the line – and perhaps, in a way, Tommy (Dallas Dupree Young) is. After all, he has pilfered his half-sister’s credit card, and he is using it to call a phone sex line when he’s several years underage. But there’s not a hint of ill will in this sweet-natured kid who crams into the phone booth with his friends, ludicrously excited by the mere concept of getting to talk to a woman about sex. The couple of minutes during which he manages to pass himself off as an adult are clearly among the happiest in his short life, but what he doesn’t know is that he’s about to have to deal with adult responsibilities on a whole different scale.
Back home, after getting into a row about the credit card and being caught trying to steal beers for.

[Mild Season 5 Spoilers Below]
Crackerjack is back! The great villain from The Karate Kid Part III, Terry Silver, played by the great Thomas Ian Griffith, makes his grand return by stepping up to the main villain role in season five of Cobra Kai. We continue our roundtable discussion with the cast as our own Chris Bumbray talks with the Excessive Force star about the challenges of filming this season.
Chris: In all the fights in Cobra Kai, what fight was most challenging from a physical standpoint?
Griffith: It’s funny because, when they said they were gonna bring Chozen back at the end of season 4, they talked to me and it was like, “The two villains from the movies! This is gonna be electric! Everyone’s anticipating that!” and it’s like, how are we going to deliver on that? And it was during the weapons competition [of the All Valley Tournament in season 4], I’m watching, and I leaned...

Perhaps it’s the show’s YouTube origins, but I continue to be surprised by just popular Cobra Kai has become. The fifth season of the Karate Kid spinoff series recently debuted on Netflix, and although a sixth season hasn’t been officially announced, it’s expected that the series will return for more. But even when Cobra Kai does come to an end, its creators say that they already have ideas for potential spinoffs.
While speaking with GamesRadar, Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg said that expanding the franchise is definitely on their mind. “That’s what we love most about the franchise: anybody watching our show sees how many characters are entering in and there’s part of us that never wants to stop,” Schlossberg said. “We do have a place where it’s all going, but that doesn’t mean the world has to stop there. We have...

This Cobra Kai article contains spoilers for season 5.
Cobra Kai has been one heck of a ride. Each season has navigated through a nearly forty-year-old feud, coupled with a teen soap opera while juggling bullying with romance, all thrown in with a copious helping of fight scenes. Throughout the series, Cobra Kai has delivered plenty of surprising twists and crazy cliffhangers.
Season 5 kept up its breakneck pace (and we do mean breakneck – remember how season 2 ended). This season’s finale was oddly parallel to last season’s finale, the villainous sensei gets taken away by the police, only this time it’s Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) instead of John Kreese (Martin Kove). All the beloved main characters put aside their rivalries to vanquish Silver, so once he’s busted, they can all live happily ever after, right? But wait! Kreese escaped jail. That will surely be a major plot point for next season.

Cobra Kai V has finally premiered on Netflix, and our own Chris Bumbray has had the opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion with the cast! Here, we ask Dallas Dupree Young about his experience on the show as newcomer, Kenny Payne.
Chris: I want to ask you about the big fight scenes. What kind of preparation goes into those? Do you have a martial arts background coming into the show? Cause you certainly look like you kick some ass on screen!
Dallas: I appreciate that, first off! I do have a little martial arts background, but, uh, the last time I did martial arts before this show was whenever I was 5 years old. So, I didn’t really remember it back there. But it was just muscle memory for me when I started to get back into that mode. But for me, my preparation is definitely I try to listen to pump music.

Major spoilers ahead for "Cobra Kai" season 5.
The Netflix series "Cobra Kai" has let us catch up with "The Karate Kid" franchise characters like Daniel Larusso, Johnny Lawrence, John Kreese, Chozen, and Terry Silver. But it also gives us a whole new generation of students who are taking up the rivalry mantles of their sensei in various dojos.
/Film participated in a "Cobra Kai" season 5 roundtable discussion with some of the cast members, including Peyton List (Tory), Mary Mouser (Samantha), Xolo Maridueña (Miguel), Jacob Bertrand (Hawk), Gianni DeCenzo (Demetri), Oona O'Brien (Devon), Dallas Dupree Young (Kenny), and Griffin Santopietro (Anthony).
The actors spoke about bullying (including who is bearing the brunt of it in season 5), working with the original film cast members, dojo hopping, and changing relationships. Fingers crossed for a sixth season, because this series has shown fans no mercy in the best way possible.

It was near impossible not to fall in love with Kenny Payne from the moment he appeared on Season 4 of “Cobra Kai,” the wildly popular Netflix series set in the universe of “The Karate Kid” movies. On his first day at a new school, he is caught dancing exuberantly as the school bus picks him up — and instantly becomes the target of Anthony Larusso, the son of Ralph Macchio’s Daniel Larusso. And it’s a testament to actor Dallas Dupree Young that as Kenny changed in Season 4 to the point where he turns the tables on his bully, that audiences are still rooting for him.

Plot: Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel Larusso must call on an old friend for help.

Cobra Kai's fifth season is shaping up to be its most dramatic.
Netflix on Tuesday dropped the official trailer for Season 5, and it's a lot.
Despite the series being a spinoff of the hit movies, it has managed to take us on a wild ride, complete with new and established characters.
Sean Kanan's Mike Barnes is not in the trailer, but there is a lot of Kreese behind bars.
Hey, we won! Kreese will still be scheming from behind the scenes, which is perfectly on brand for him.

In the shocking conclusion of season 4, Cobra Kai won the All-Valley Tournament. According to an agreement between the senseis, this means that both of the other dojos have to close. Is that the end? It just might be Johnny Lawrence’s turn to “wax on, wax off,” to look at the full trailer for Cobra Kai Season 5 (premiering Friday, Sept. 9 on Netflix).

As audiences eagerly await the arrival of “Cobra Kai” Season 5 on Netflix next month, fans can whet their appetites with a slew of first-look images for the new season, including the return of yet another familiar face from “Karate Kid” lore.
Season 5 will welcome back Sean Kanan as Mike Barnes, who franchise devotees will remember as one of the main antagonists of “The Karate Kid III.” In that film, he was hired by Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) to take down Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) in the All Valley Karate Championship. Later in Season 3 of “Cobra Kai,” Daniel tells his daughter Sam that Mike was the most ruthless fighter he ever faced off against. Nothing hits harder in “Cobra Kai” than nostalgia.

“It’s a good question because most people, I would say even my parents probably have no idea what I really do,” jokes Emmy-nominated supervising sound editor Patrick Hogan about the primary responsibilities of a sound editor and the differences between his team and the sound editing team on a show like “Cobra Kai.”
For our recent webchat Hogan declares, “It takes a lot of people to make a movie or show and even on a TV show like this,” he explains, adding that “you’re talking probably 150 people between production and post-production who work on the show. So, while the sound department is one small group of those people, it’s still many people working towards a common goal. There’s different positions and different responsibilities that different people have and in order to get the final product and reinforce the vision and the story that the producers want to tell.
