TaleFlick, an online platform that provides writers with a chance to showcase their work to producers and studios, is partnering with HarperCollins Publishers. The collaboration between the companies will allow the publisher to upload thousands of titles across an array of genres, and provide HarperCollins authors the opportunity to have their titles made more accessible to the film industry. The two companies have signed a multi-year contract, according to Uri Singer, a producer and founder of TaleFlick. The deal adds tens of thousands of titles to TaleFlick’s database.
TaleFlick, which launched in 2018, curates full-length fiction and non-fiction books, as well as unproduced screenplays into a searchable library for producers and development executives around the world. Authors pay $88 to upload their work. Singer said he was inspired to launch the platform because of his own experiences trying to get a movie made from “The King of Oil,” a non-fiction look...

Producer Uri Singer and former Netflix/Apple executiveGeorge Berry have launched TaleFlick, a searchable library of content that can be adapted for film, TV and digital platforms.
TaleFlick seeks to satisfy Hollywood’s seemingly insatiable appetite for new stories with a platform that allows studios and producers to search a vast collection of curated works for the books, short stories and other narrative works that fit their criteria.
“Today original content is the new gold and everybody’s looking for it, including myself as a producer,” Singer told Deadline. “I found that it’s complicated.”
Singer said the platform allows authors from around the world — like say Daniel Ammann, the Swiss author of a book he recently optioned, The King of Oil: The Secret Lives of Marc Rich — to gain exposure in Hollywood, without having connections.

“Marjorie Prime” producer Uri Singer of Passage Pictures and former Netflix executive George Berry have launched TaleFlick, a platform with a searchable library of stories for film, television, and digital media.
“As a producer, I’ve learned the importance of finding strong content and having a reliable source that can provide it,” Singer said. “TaleFlick allows studios and producers, like myself, to find stories that otherwise would not have had a chance to be seen.”
Tuesday’s announcement appears to allow writers to bypass agents and managers in selling material. “TaleFlick bridges the gap between the written word on paper and the spoken word on screen by paving the way for storytellers around the world to shop their content to the entertainment industry,” the statement said.
The platform is for all content — published books, short stories, and any original narrative — and the submission process includes an introductory one-time single-level fee of $88 to cover curation,...

Matt Damon is in talks to join a new film project called The King of Oil, which is set up through John Krasinski's Sunday Night Productions and Universal Pictures. Krasinski is currently a producer on the film, but there's a chance that he might eventually jump on as the film's director.
The movie is based on the biography of fugitive billionaire commodities trader, Marc Rich, called The King of Oil: The Secret Lives of Marc Rich. If cast, Damon will take on the role of Rich. For those of you not familiar with this guy and his story, here's a little run down from Deadline:
The public will remember Rich from that controversial pardon by President Bill Clinton on his last day in office. Rich was a child of the Holocaust who became the wealthiest and most powerful oil and commodities trader of the century until his 1983 indictments on 65 criminal counts including tax evasion.

Matt Damon is reportedly in early negotiations to star as fugitive billionaire commodities trader Marc Rich in the John Krasinski’s Sunday Night Productions feature, The King of Oil.
Optioned by Universal Pictures for Krasinski’s production banner the story is based on The King of Oil: The Secret Lives of Marc Rich, a no-holds-barred biography of Rich written by Daniel Ammann that sheds new light on one of the most controversial international businessmen of all time. Krasinski and Allyson Seeger are producing for Sunday Night Productions, and Vincent Sieber and Uri Singer are also producing. Singer first optioned the book through his Passage Pictures and then partnered with Sunday Night.
There are rumours that Krasinski, after his smash hit outing in A Quiet Place, could also direct but at this point, however right that this is pure speculation. Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse will adapt the screenplay. Executive Vice...

Don DeLillo's book of an 'airborne toxic event' is being adapted into a film...
Uri Singer’s Bb Film Productions and Michael Almereyda have optioned rights to adapt Don DeLillo’s 1986 novel White Noise to film.
“I think the book combines a sense of humour with a sense of menace,” Singer said in a statement. “The book has great dialogue and features many cinematic episodes. It radiates an appreciation of American life but also elements of satire. There’s a central love story between a husband and wife, but with an awareness of the secrets and fears that they keep from one another. Despite a bloody confrontation at the end, tragedy is averted.”
