Upcoming projects from Iranian filmmaker Behrooz Karamizade and Golden Bear-winning producer Bianca Oana are among 10 titles selected for the Full Circle Lab Nouvelle-Aquitaine Hessen workshop.
The first edition of the lab, which has been announced in Cannes and is organised by France’s Tatino Films, will host six projects in development and four in the editing stage. The Development Lab will support writing, co-production consultations and industry guidance while the First Cut Lab will supply expert feedback, guided by an experienced editing tutor.
From the selection, six are connected to the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine in France and four with the Hessen region in Germany.

Continuing its quest to promote and center women in genre cinema, Sitges will hold its annual networking, scholarship, and conference strand, WomanInFan, which head of the industry department, Patricia Salvatierra declared “is growing by leaps and bounds.”
The events take place over Oct. 6-8, as part of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, unspooling Oct. 5-15.

Chile’s foremost industry forum Sanfic Industria wrapped Friday Aug. 19 with a wealth of prizes doled out to projects from across Latin America and Spain.
Still reeling from the pandemic, the forum’s 11th year saw another hybrid edition but a definite upsurge in attendance. The various sections included Wip Ibero-American, Santiago Lab: Fiction and Documentary, Sanfic-Mórbido Lab, Sanfic Series and the new space created for female producers, Productoras Lab.
Most telling, a number of projects from small countries and by women directors as well as upcoming new talent triumphed at the forum this year.

Last week the six projects participating in this year's Sanfic Morbido Lab, Sanfic’s genre/fantastic film showcase, were announced over at Variety. The showcase is in it's third year and takes place during Sanfic, Santiago Festival Internacional de Cine, during the third week of this month. Always of particular interest to us is the participation of our friends and family at Grupo Morbido, looking to further grow genre film in the LatAm region. A trend for horror anthologies is emerging from the competing titles in this year’s Sitges Pitchbox event, as organizers Filmmarket Hub and the Sitges Film Festival announce this year’s line up.
And, as the movie project showcase opens up its doors to series for the first time, it’s buzzy titles such as “R.I.P “ and “Mr Ray” which appear to be embracing the anthology format.
Developed during a 2019 Manhattan Institute Film Workshop “Mr Ray” is created by Antoine Bours – a series creator on Belgian-French scripted crime series “Ennemi Public” (“Public Enemy”).
Pitching itself as “Penny Dreadful” meets Tim Burton’s “Big Fish,” the series is described as “a love letter to the anthology series” and a tribute to one of its pioneers, the early twentieth century Belgian horror writer Jean Ray.
