Back on Friday, Gun Interactive announced the impending farewell of Sumo Nottingham, the original developer for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Obviously, fans were worried who was going to pick up development of the asymmetrical multiplayer game. We now have our answer in the form of Black Tower Studios.
Friday The 13th: The Game players will be familiar with Black Tower Studios, as the Japanese developer took over development duties on Friday The 13th: The Game from IllFonic back in 2018. Their work included the Jarvis House and Pinehurst maps for that game, as well as provided support. Both of the teams at Sumo Nottingham and Gun Interactive are currently on-boarding Black Tower Studios to the project over the course of the next month. After which, Black Tower Studios will be working on the future Dlc content for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

On the heels of a new executions and weapons skins pack being released for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, not to mention Barbara Crampton joining in on the fun, it’s admittedly a bit of a surprise that the game’s developer, Sumo Nottingham, has announced that they’ll be handing off future development of the asymmetrical multiplayer game to another developer.
In a post to X, Sumo Nottingham announced that they will be working closely with the as-yet-unannounced incoming developer to “ensure a smooth and efficient handoff” of the game, with no interruption to players. They write, “We’d like to thank Gun Interactive for being fantastic partners for the last four years, and for giving our horror-loving team the opportunity to sink their meat hooks into this iconic title.” Sumo Nottingham will be announcing their next project “all in due course.”

It’s a new year and you can expect fresh new updates for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game throughout the year. At this point in time, new content is planned at least through August, with the developers promising more updates as long as fans keep playing.
During a question and answer session over on Reddit this week, Gun’s Andy Cleves provided a little teaser for what we can expect in the coming months. Responding to a fan who asked for “more skins, characters, levels,” Cleves responded with a simple message: “All coming.”
Cleves elaborated a tiny bit more, “We do have a lot of content in the works. Wes Keltner confirmed in a recent stream that we have content planned through August of this year. If players continue to play, then more content will follow past August.”

Diehard Texas Chainsaw Massacre fans know about the promotional chili mix that was released for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. And thanks to Gun Interactive, we’re getting a revisit of sorts with the first-ever BBQ spice rubs inspired by and dedicated to the celebrated horror franchise. The Family Recipe Dry Rub Pack is courtesy of Austin, TX-based LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue, which you can purchase now from the official Texas Chain Saw Massacre store.
Featuring locally-sourced ingredients from the Texas area, the rub is “suitable for any cut of meat you can hunt down.” There are three rubs in the pack, named after Leatherface, Cook, and Hitchhiker, which are crafted for beef, pork, and chicken, respectively.
“It was such a great opportunity to get to work with Gun on such an iconic name in Texas and the horror film genre as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” says Evan LeRoy,...

The wait is finally over for Gun Interactive’s first batch of Dlc for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which sees the release of the game’s first cosmetic packs. That includes a new Leatherface outfit pack that features a new mask design by Greg Nicotero, a new saw design and sound, and a new universal kill that can be equipped to any Leatherface.
As Gun Interactive’s Wes Keltner explained previously, this new skin does not come with new abilities for Leatherface. Instead, it adds a new aesthetic to those who play as Leatherface. “It’s the same as the Pretty Woman or Old Lady skins for the base Lf. However, we did give this Lf a new saw with new recordings. It’s a deeper, growling saw that can be heard and identified immediately before you even see Lf.”
Meanwhile, there are six other cosmetic packs for players to choose from.

The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game from Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham was just released for play on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on August 18th – and one month later, the developers have announced (via Bloody Disgusting and GameSpot) that new content will be available next month! For $16, players will be able to purchase the “Nicotero Leatherface” pack, which includes a new chainsaw with custom sounds, a new kill animation for all versions of Leatherface in the game, and a new skin for Leatherface that was designed by special effects legend Greg Nicotero.
This is far from the first time Nicotero has associated with Leatherface, as he also worked on the films Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, and Texas Chainsaw 3D.

Sure, game publishers are slowly inching towards digital-only releases, but dang it, physical media junkies still exist. Gun Interactive certainly knows this, and they’ve announced that pre-orders for physical editions (and digital) of their upcoming adaptation of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre are available now at your favourite retailer.
Available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, the physical editions will be available on August 18th (the same day that the game is released), retailing for $39.99 Usd. And as an added bonus, the first batch of the physical release will include an exclusive poster replicating the cover art for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. As always, the “while supplies last” is key here.
Given that today’s releases from major developers/studios venture into the $70 and $80 range (or more), this is quite the steal. In fact, Gun Interactive’s Wes Keltner certainly took notice of peoples’ responses. You could spring for a couple copies,...

Gun Interactive’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game hasn’t even been released yet and already people are begging for fan-favorite sequel characters to be added. But they shouldn’t expect to be able to download Lefty, Chop Top or any other classic additions in the near future.
Wes Keltner, who serves as Gun Interactive’s CEO and president, took to Twitter to tell potential players of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game that they shouldn’t get their hopes up for the appearance of a single sequel character or location anytime soon. “Friendly reminder. We have the interactive rights to the 1974 film. We can’t put characters or locations in from other TX films because we don’t have those rights. Demanding we add them is not how Hollywood works. Licensing in general is usually a total mess.” Still, he offered a glimpse of hope, writing, “For clarity.

With the Technical Test for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre just a week away, and to go along with the release of the “Lo-fi Leatherface” Youtube channel, Gun Interactive has released to digital streaming services the Official Soundtrack to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. To go along with the soundtrack, they’ve also released “Remains”, a companion album by Gun CEO Wes Keltner and composer Jim Bonney.
Now digitally available on Spotify and Apple Music, the pair of albums allow fans to get a taste of what’s in store. For example, “The Massacre”, the main theme song from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre soundtrack, is composed of pig screams, chainsaws, and scraped metal, as well as other equipment like the Soma Lyra drone machine. It also features Keltner performing on the Apprehension Engine, the custom-made musical instrument played by the likes of Mark Korven and Trent Reznor, and which...

Gun Interactive President and CEO Wes Keltner‘s reaction on Twitter says it all. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game finally has a release date of August 18. Not only that, but there’s a new trailer out courtesy of IGN, alongside an announcement of a technical test on May 25.
Details on the technical test are yet to be revealed, but there’s a good chance that both PC and consoles will be involved.
As for the trailer, it’s a short-but-sweet affair, as Family members slice and dice Victims in appropriately bloody fashion, culminating in a short clip of Leatherface delivering a coup de grâce on one unfortunate soul. The trailer ends on a shot of a family portrait that recreates the the famous photo of the Family sitting on the porch.

Since you loved the behind-the-scenes footage the first time, Gun Interactive is back with another video showing off the process of record audio and sound effects for their upcoming multiplayer horror game The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The focus of the featurette is none other than the titular tool of devastation itself.
In the video, sadly it’s not Kane Hodder doing the dance, but Gun President and CEO Wes Keltner gives it his all. Joined by Foley FX artist Lord Kayoss and veteran SFX recording artist Watson Wu, the trio explains the challenges in attempting to recreate the original chainsaw and subsequent sound effects of the original 1974 film.
In fact, when asked by a fan on Twitter regarding the efforts, Wes stated that it was “very hard” to track down the actual chainsaw model. “We located 3. Sourced parts. Rebuilt. Took about 6 months in total.” Even then, when it came down to doing the dance,...

Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham are still working on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game, getting it ready to be played by fans all around the world… but in the meantime, Gun Interactive’s Wes Keltner has also teamed with composer Jim Bonney for a creative side project. A music album called Remains, which serves as a companion to the video game.
Keltner explained on the game’s official website, “This album is a direct reflection of what Kim Henkel wrote, influenced by the events that led up to that moment and why the Slaughter family did the things they did and it’s about that town that they grew up in and around. For generations, what that town did was process meat, from cattle to pigs, entire slaughterhouses really, and just like Henkel’s commentary on modernity overall, from automation to gas price and supply issues, he applied that to this small town.

Just like in film, the music and sound for a video game can potentially make or break the experience for the player. Sumo Digital and Gun Interactive know this, and today have unveiled the theme for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Composed by BAFTA Nominated composer Ross Tregenza and featuring Gun Interactive’s CEO Wes Keltner, the theme accompanies in-game shots of the Farm House map. And as intended, it helps to build the environment itself, not to mention puts immediate dread and tension into the seemingly peaceful and gorgeous surroundings. Funny how that works.
We unfortunately don’t get that famous sound of a tuning fork from the start of the film, but the rumbling bass strings and other effects that seemingly mimic the sound of a revving chainsaw motor should provide plenty of unsettling thoughts. Not to mention the other weird wailing sounds that no doubt enhance the...

Like most people, Wes Keltner, Studio Head at Gun Interactive, spent most of 2020 working from home. But unlike most people, his job involved him tinkering with a strange little box called the Apprehension Engine. You think of it as a kind of “musical” instrument, with outgrowths of strings and knobs and warped strips of metal jutting out in all directions from its wooden frame, producing demonic twangs and echoes from hell when poked, prodded, and contorted in just the right way.
“There’s nothing melodic about any of it,” says Keltner of the devilish machine. “I spent a year at home obsessing over how to tease out the sounds I wanted. Eventually, those sounds became the sound bed for our Texas Chainsaw Massacre game.”
Like Keltner, the team at Gun went to incredible lengths to make sure their Texas Chainsaw Massacre game lived up to Tobe Hooper’s horror movie classic.

No new content will be made for “Friday the 13th: The Game,” the developers confirmed in a post on the official forums.
“Friday the 13th” was originally funded via Kickstarter, and released in 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC to mixed reception, but the game has a dedicated fanbase hoping for more content. Unfortunately, Gun Media won’t be creating or adding any more play modes, playable characters, or maps to the title.
Gun Media confirmed in a press release on June 11 that the game would no longer have any new Dlc content, due to the legal battle over the “Friday the 13th” franchise launched by the original screenwriter, Victor Miller. Miller is attempting to reclaim the rights to his original characters that were used in the 1980 original movie and subsequent releases.

Though nobody can ever truly stop you from dusting off the already released Friday the 13th movies and popping them into your media player of choice (I’m sure a few of you still have your VHS copies), it’s quite disheartening to think that another entry into the franchise is likely many years off – if it ever arrives at all.
Of course, I don’t mean to start off your day with such a downer but, as you may have heard, the franchise as a whole – video games included – has been in legal limbo since last summer, thus prohibiting what would be the thirteenth entry into the series from seeing the light of day. Basically, it’s due to Victor Miller, screenwriter on the original flick from 1980, attempting to terminate a grant of rights and reclaim ownership of the brand.

Just in time for Friday the 13th, Gun Media has announced that a new playable character will be coming very soon to their popular asymmetric horror game.
This newly added playable counsellor goes by the name of Victoria Sterling, though it’s clear that she’s based on one of the most annoying characters in the whole slasher series: Melissa Paur from Friday The 13th Part VII: A New Blood. As you probably remember, she’s the spoilt, rich girl who receives her nasty comeuppance from the iconic masked butcherer, Jason Voorhees.
Here’s the full rundown, courtesy of Gun Media’s Wes Keltner:
I would like to introduce Victoria Sterling, Camp Crystal Lake’s newest counselor. Similar to Chad, Victoria comes from money and she is used to getting her way. So much so that she often is perceived as “bitchy” and manipulative. She doesn’t mean any physical harm,...

"This is between me and Jason. Come on, maggot-head!" For nearly every slasher villain, there is a protagonist looking to stop them. Freddy Krueger had Nancy, Michael Myers had Laurie Strode, and Jason Voorhees had Tommy Jarvis, who is brought to life in a new reveal video featuring Jason Lives actor Thom Mathews reprising his beloved role in Friday the 13th: The Game.
Back in October, Gun Media and IllFonic postponed the release of Friday the 13th: The Game to 2017, but the longer wait means more goodies for gamers, including the playable Tommy Jarvis character in the teaser video (initially revealed by Rely on Horror) that you can watch below. A new single player experience is also being developed, and you can read the full press release for full details.

Friday the 13th: The Game, Gun Media’s crowdfunded horror game, has officially been delayed into 2017 now that the developer has mapped out plans to introduce a single-player component.
Prior to this announcement, the licensed title was pitched as a multiplayer experience first and foremost, with players having the choice of controlling one of the many hapless teenagers bound for Camp Crystal Lake, or the iconic, downright horrifying Jason Voorhees himself. Gun Media has now confirmed that, after securing the necessary funding, a single-player mode will feature when Friday the 13th: The Game touches down in spring 2017, even making room for Tommy Jarvis (Friday the 13th parts IV, V, and VI) and Packanack Lodge.
Those who have already pledged their support via Kickstarter will get the new mode free of charge, though new backers will have to pay an increased digital price of $40. The $60 physical price remains unchanged.

It may be Thursday the 13th, but Gun Media and IllFonic have made it a day for Jason Voorhees fans to celebrate by confirming that Friday the 13th: The Game will feature Tommy Jarvis as a playable character, Packanack Lodge as a playable map, and a single player experience that will accompany the game's multiplayer platform. With the new additions to the game, the initial fall 2016 release date has been moved to early 2017 for the multiplayer levels and summer of 2017 for single player mode, but it sounds like it will be well worth the wait for diehard fans.

New blood will spatter the cabins at Camp Crystal Lake next fall when the folks at Gun Media release Friday the 13th: The Game on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. A new gameplay overview video explains how fixing the phone can save you from the wrath of Jason Voorhees.
"This is the 3rd entry in a series of videos that will help explain one of the ways that counselors can survive their night in Camp Crystal Lake for Friday the 13th: The Game. Calling the Police requires fixing the outside call box in the cabin and then successfully completing a call before Jason gets you. At that point you have 10 minutes till the round ends, but you still have to make your way to them at a random entry point.
Notice: Any footage of Friday the 13th: The Game used in this gameplay overview video should be considered a work in progress.

To many horror movie fans, Kane Hodder is Jason Voorhees. Having played the Camp Crystal Lake killer in four Friday the 13th films, Hodder was Gun Media's go-to choice to play Jason in Friday the 13th: The Game. With eight days remaining in the game's Kickstarter campaign (and over $620,000 raised so far), Daily Dead caught up with Hodder to discuss preparing to play Jason once again, memorable moments on the sets of the Friday the 13th films, and much more.
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Kane. Can you tell us how you got involved with Friday the 13th: The Game?
Kane Hodder: Wes Keltner contacted me about being involved with a game called Summer Camp. He wanted me to do the motion capture for the killer. Obviously, I love playing a character like that, so I was very interested.
