Despite Disney’s plan to reduce output, Marvel Studios continues to develop numerous projects. Among the most anticipated is a live-action reboot of the ‘X-Men’ franchise.
The idea of rebooting the ‘X-Men’ series has been in the works since Disney acquired Fox properties, including X-Men and Fantastic Four. While it’s not confirmed whether the rumor we’re about to share is directly linked to the X-Men reboot, it certainly aligns with that possibility.
Per information from MyTimeToShineHello, a reasonably dependable source for leaks and scoops, discussions are ongoing for Janelle Monàe to become part of the MCU family, potentially portraying Storm.

Marvel Studios has plenty of projects in the making, even after it was announced by Iger that they plan on significantly reducing their output. One of the most anticipated projects it’s certainly an ‘X-Men’ live-action reboot.
The reboot has been in plans ever since Disney took control of Fox properties X-Men and Fantastic Four. Now we don’t know whether the rumor we have for you is tied specifically to the X-Men reboot but it certainly sounds like that.
According to MyTimeToShineHello, a somewhat reliable leaker and scooper, Janelle Monàe is in talks to join the MCU franchise, as none other than Storm.

The rumors about Charli Xcx writing songs during sessions for Britney Spears were initially dismissed by the pop icon at the beginning of the year. But during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the musician clarified that the part about her writing music was true — what wasn’t true, however, was the narrative that Spears had recorded any of them.
“It leaked to the press. Britney then did this post where she was like, ‘I don’t have random people write for me.’ And I was like, ‘Oh.

Doja Cat is a weirdo, but that’s why and how we fell in love with her. Her first big taste of viral fame was, after all, a song about cows. In the years since “Mooo!” the world can’t quite shake one of pop’s preeminent internet trolls (only Lil Nas X can compete). She’s weathered the types of controversies that would force a duller star to dim completely: offensive tweets, “showing feet in racial chat rooms,” bad Covid takes. But if the last year of Doja Cat’s internet,...

The 2019 edition of the Bet Awards doubled as a celebration of late rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was killed in March outside of his Marathon clothing store in Los Angeles. In honor of the man affectionately known as “Nip,” the carpet was colored blue.
“The marathon continues” was a common refrain on the carpet (as seen on the back of Yg’s jacket) and beyond.
In fact, Hussle performed on the BET Awards just last year. Speaking to Variety, Bet Networks President Scott M. Mills said: “Nipsey is such an important part of our community, in particular the fact that he focused on servicing his community, staying in his community, and trying to uplift the community he was a part of. We see that nature of his really resonated deeply with the African American community and culture. We really wanted to recognize him here in L.A. for the Bet Awards.

Before he began his Hollywood career, Cheo Hodari Coker was a gifted music journalist, with work for Rolling Stone that included reviews of D'Angelo's Brown Sugar and Biggie's Ready to Die. But he originally dreamed of "making records" as an A&R rep, a goal he never quite reached – unless you count his role as showrunner on Netflix's Luke Cage, which has its second season out now. Well before Black Panther, the first season brought hip-hop into the Marvel universe, building key moments around '90s boom-bap classics and newer...

In the past, Janelle Monáe had been coy or quiet about her sexuality. But she certainly isn’t when talking about the issue in a new Rolling Stone cover story, in which she says she’s had relationships with both men and women and currently identifies as pansexual.
“Being a queer black woman in America — someone who has been in relationships with both men and women — I consider myself to be a free-ass motherfucker,” she says. While she initially considered herself bisexual, “I read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.’ I’m open to learning more about who I am.”
The four videos the singer has released in advance of her third full-length album, “Dirty Computer,” which arrives on Friday, include many sexual themes — including some almost comically overt references in the video for the song “Pynk” — and the 45-minute “emotion picture...

Janelle Monae’s new 44-minute “emotion picture” for “Dirty Computer” will premiere on MTV and Bet on April 26, the companies announced. Monae’s album will be released the following day. (View the trailer below.)

Quietly, in the wee hours as Sunday became Monday, Janelle Monae dropped “I Like That,” the fourth song from her forthcoming album “Dirty Computer,” which is due on April 27. The four tracks are strikingly different from each other — this one is almost a self-empowerment ballad, with an easy groove and lyrics that look back on being mocked in school. Elements of two of the previously released songs — the rapped “Django Jane” and the Prince-channeling “Make Me Feel” — arise in the middle of “I Like That,” when Monae raps in a voice that recalls Prince, addressing an unnamed person from her school days who called her “weird” and “rated me a six” — “Even back then, with tears in my eyes,” she recalls, “I always knew I was the sh–.”
Unlike the other three songs, “I Like That” is not yet accompanied by a video. Last week Monae dropped a spectacularly unsubtle...

Janelle Monae has dropped the third song and video from her long-awaited third solo album, “Dirty Computer,” which is due April 27. The clip features Janelle and her dancers in a desert setting, working a theme based around, er, a part of the female anatomy that was expressed in the video for “Django Jane” released in February. The song features Grimes, although she does not appear in the video.
In February Monae dropped two songs and videos — “Make Me Feel” along with “Django Jane” — and details about the album. The singer/actress doesn’t do anything by half — in the five years since her last album, she’s toured, landed star-making acting appearances in “Hidden Figures” and Oscar Best Picture “Moonlight,” launched her Wondaland label (home to Jidenna, St. Beauty and others) and gave a rousing #TimesUp-themed speech at the Grammy Awards last month — and the new album is no exception.

Earlier this week, CBS announced that former One Direction member — and latest addition to the Christopher Nolan Players — Harry Styles is slated for a week-long residency on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” For four consecutive nights, starting on May 15, Styles will serve as the resident musical artist.
With that “Dunkirk” appearance on the horizon and a solo music career still in its early stages, you could do worse than Styles when picking someone to hand the keys to an entire week’s worth of late night. And having been through the process of a breakneck sketch show schedule, he’ll probably be a capable comedy sidekick for Corden.
But what if this residency is a smashing success? Which other bands and artists would be ripe for tenures of their own on the other major daily late-night shows?
Jon Batiste and Stay Human hold down the fort for “The Late Show.

It’s always an interesting exercise to arrive at the end of a year and take stock of the films that it produced, to squint for as much perspective as you can and see what the movies might have been saying to us, or to each other. Given the, uh, unique events of the last 12 months (or even just the last four weeks), it might take a little while longer than usual for us to have a clear sense of what the landscape really looked like. Will these films offer us rare insight into turbulent times, or — like much of what was released in theaters just prior to 9/11 — will they seem like relics from a more innocent world?
With that in mind, I thought it might be fun to get a bit more granular than usual, and to highlight individual moments from my 25 favorite films of the year (and, at least for the moment,...
