Steve formed his first band at the age of 13, and got a record deal based on his original material at 17. Soon thereafter he had his first worldwide hit as a songwriter with "I've Got A Rock N'Roll Heart," recorded by Eric Clapton . After studying music at UCLA, he began playing on sessions and touring with other artists. His song "I Can Love You Like That" which was recorded by All 4 One and John Michael Montgomery was #1 for three weeks for each of these artists as well as being nominated for four Grammys. It was ASCAP, BMI and NSAI Song Of The Year. Steve was awarded Songwriter Of The Year by American Songwriter Magazine. Faith Hill recorded "Let Me Let Go" on her CD "Faith" which has sold 5,000,000 units. It was a #1 single and was nominated for a Grammy. "Let Me Let Go" is also featured in the movie "Message in a Bottle" starring Kevin Costner and Paul Newman. It was produced by David Foster and is on Faith's International pop record as well."The Backstreet Boys" recorded "Never Gone," which is the title song of the band's album. They also recorded "What Makes You Different"" which is featured in "The Princess Diaries" and on the group's Black and Blue CD. Britney Spears recorded "I'll Never Stop Loving You. Steve won an Emmy for "Outstanding Original Song." "Consider Me Gone," by Reba, was #1 for four weeks and is her biggest single ever."According To You" by Orianthi (Michael Jackson's guitar player) reached #2 on the charts and has been a hit in other territories as well. Miley Cyrus recorded "I Learned From You" and released it on two albums. "On and On" by Agnes Carlsson has been a hit in many territories and Steve has 4 songs on her album. Steve produced Rywolf with Guy Roche and has wrote with many artists including: Judith Hill (20 Feet From Stardom-Oscar winner), Teasanne Chin (Winner of The Voice), The Tenors, Lauren Alaina, The New Officials and Los 5 to name a few. He wrote 4 songs with Anastacia that are on her album "Resurrection" including the title track
