Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 did not just have a ‘two’ in its name, it also gave players two Spider-Man’s to play with. That’s just one example of how much thought and effort the makers at Insomniac Studios put into making the game. And it did pay off. It turned out to be a critical and financial success when it launched in October 2023.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gave players the opportunity to web through Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens while making the two Spider-men Peter Parker and Miles Morale perform some aerobatics above New York’s skyscrapers. Besides, it brought in new suits and styles along with a range of accessibility options. It was splendid in every way, just as the makers envisioned it.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was a massive hit for PlayStation and continues to impress fans with the bizarre introduction of Scream in the video game series.
Spoilers ahead for the sequel.
The highly anticipated sequel had big shoes to fill given the original game’s success, and the spinoff title, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, highlights the journey of the young webslinger into becoming a fully realized Spider-Man. Fans have theorized and speculated about the possible new villains that would be introduced to the series, and Scream was a welcome surprise.
Creatively deviating from the original source material, which is a prevalent practice in other superhero adaptations, Mary Jane Watson became the host for this version’s Scream. In an intense face-off at the Parker residence, Harry Osborn now bonded with Venom means to eliminate Spider-Man and lured him by threatening the life of Mj.

Insomniac Games has struck gold with their incredible work in crafting an original story for the masked web-slinger and continues to do so in their latest entry: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, while Yuri Lowenthal grapples with how they ended the game and the future of Peter Parker.
The first game was a work of art, seeing how creatively the writers and directors integrated certain story elements and characters from the Spider-Man lore and made it work for this format, spawning DLCs and even a spinoff game with Miles Morales as the lead.
Beyond Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was a massive success for PlayStation.
Coming back for a third time, Yuri has a level of protection for the character. It was no secret that the sequel would be darker and more mature than the original and spinoff games, Insomniac found the right balance with lighthearted humor and character moments like Miles and his mother,...

Marvel’s Spider-Man To Meet GTA-Like World Exploration In The 3rd Part? Insomniac Leaks Hint At A Blockbuster Return… (Picture Credit: Youtube)
If you’re even somewhat deep in gaming, you must be aware of what happened to Insomniac Studios recently, and all we can do is wish them strength to come out even better of the mess, releasing mind-bending titles as they’ve always done. For those unversed, Insomniac Games are the people behind games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 1,2, Ratchet and Clank series, and more, and their servers got hacked.
Hackers demanded $2 million (50 Bitcoin) for this ransomware attack. When Insomniac ignored them, they went ahead to leak 1.67 terabytes of company data, including 1.3 million files online revealing a lot about their inside plans.
A lot about Marvel’s Wolverine game was also leaked, actually fuelling the excitement for the same. Why are we explaining all this and not talking about...

Even though it’s been two years since the latest live-action ‘Spider-Man’ movie, 2023 is a really good year for web-slinger fans. Last June, we watched ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,’ one of the most acclaimed movies of the year, which set up the stage for the finale of the ‘Spider-Verse’ trilogy in ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,’ for which we can’t wait to arrive. Also, owners of the PlayStation 5 console will finally play the anticipated ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’ video game, which is set to arrive this October.
There have been countless video games based on Spider-Man on various platforms in history, but Insomniac Games’ ‘Spider-Man,’ which was released in 2018 exclusively on PlayStation 4, is the most successful game of that kind yet. The game was sold in over 20 million copies, making it the most successful PlayStation 4 exclusive game of all time.

We’re all psyched for Tony Todd to be voicing Venom in Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is set for a very busy October release. The development team sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss Todd’s casting, and what Candyman himself brings to the role. In addition, the team also unveiled Venom’s look in the game in a new image you’ll find below.
According to Bryan Intihar, senior creative director at Insomniac Games, casting the voice of Venom was a difficult one. “I was so scared of who we were going to get to do the voice. We knew it would be so anticipated and people would have a lot of opinions on it.” Fortunately for him (and us), Todd had submitted an audition tape for Venom, which according to Intihar, captured everything that the team had talked about the character. “Tony embraces that completely in the performance.

As is the sad, depressing norm whenever creatives make controversial but ultimately inconsequential decisions, some ‘fans’ simply can’t help but grossly overreact to the situation.
As many will no doubt have learned by now, Insomniac Games’ original Spider-Man title, released back in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, is all set to get a well-deserved remaster next month for Sony’s next-gen console. Boasting sharper textures, silky smooth 60 fps (performance mode) and a shopping list’s length list of miscellaneous improvements, this version of the web-slinger’s adventure is almost certainly intended to be the definitive iteration, with several teaser trailers released last week already proving as such.
Those are all welcome changes, then, though one that isn’t and continues to be a sorely contentious issue, is the developer’s decision to give Peter Parker a complete makeover. In order to better accommodate voice artist Yuri Lowenthal’s performance as Parker in the remaster,...

If you intend to revisit Marvel’s Spider-Man when the remaster arrives on the PS5 later this year, you could be in for a shock.
Yesterday, Insomniac Games released the first trailer for its upgrade of the original 2018 title, revealing, in turn, a brand new face for Peter Parker. While improved visual fidelity for graphical assets like skin, eyes and teeth have been deployed across the board for every single character in the touch-up, Parker, in particular, has undergone complete facial reconstruction surgery. John Bubinak, who served as the face model for Peter in the PS4 version, has been replaced with Ben Jordan, who looks remarkably similar to live-action Spider-Man actor Tom Holland.
The change isn’t subtle, then, and fans, clearly taken aback by the swap, have shared their mixed reactions on social media, many of which take issue with the character looking considerably more youthful than before. In...

Developer Insomniac Games has recast Peter Parker’s face model in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered in an attempt to better utilize the visual upgrades offered by the PS5 and to set the series up for its future on the next-gen console. When Peter Parker appears on the PS5, it’ll be with the face of Ben Jordan and not John Bubniak.
As you might expect, the fan reaction to this change has been…interesting so far. In fact, the first thing that most people pointed out is that Peter Parker’s new face actor bears more than a passing resemblance to current big-screen Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland.

In , Insomniac Games creative director Bryan Intihar and Spider-Man creative director Brian Horton discussed how the studio always had big plans for the Miles Morales character.
“We knew really early that [Spider-Man] was going to end with him getting the spider bite,” Intihar says regarding one of Marvel’s Spider-Man‘s climactic scenes. “We would tease it during development. I think everybody was focused on, ‘Can you make the first one really good and we’ll worry about the other stuff later?’ But we wanted to have that set up so if it became a reality [to do another game] we could pull it off.”
Interestingly, Intihar also notes that the original plan was to reveal Miles Morales at the end of the game as a post-credits surprise. However, Intihar notes that the team felt it was important to “see the roots of him being a hero...

Insomniac hasn't formally announced a Spider-Man 2 for PS4, but there are clues as to what a sequel could entail...
This article contains spoilers for Spider-Man PS4 and some speculation on the future. It comes from Den of Geek UK.
Insomniac's Spider-Man game was one of the biggest releases of last year, garnering loads of positive reviews and spawning three well-received Dlc chapters, as well as fun post-launch content like the Fantastic Four suits that arrived in January. It seems logical to assume, although Insomniac is yet to formally announce it, that a Spider-Man sequel will follow.
But what might Spider-Man 2, or whatever it ends up being called, actually entail? There are quite a few clues to uncover in the first game itself, and there are even more indicators about the future of the web-slinging franchise to be found on the web (pun very much intended...

Bryan Intihar, creative director on Marvel's Spider-Man, looks back on the highs and lows of a very public development process.
Marvel's Spider-Man was one of the biggest games of last year, but during development, it came under an intense amount of scrutiny from fans (many of whom were hoping for an epic new experience that could live up the classics like the PS2's Spider-Man 2 game). Now, with the game finished and released, creative director Bryan Intihar has had a chance to reflect on the pros and cons of making a game surrounded by so much public interest.
In an insightful interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Intihar made it clear that he prefers to focus on the positives that can come from developing such a highly anticipated title in the public eye: he recalls the joyous moment that Sony's big boss first played the game,...

If you've been waiting patiently for some more Marvel's Spider-Man news, then today is the hallowed day you've been anticipating: following the announcement that something "fantastic" was coming to the game, two Fantastic Four-themed costumes have popped up thanks to a new patch.
It's another fan-pleasing patch from Insomniac, which previously appeased a lot of vocal gamers by adding the much-requested "Raimi Suit" to the title, as two separate Fantastic Four outfits have been added to Spider-Man's wardrobe.
One of these is a Future Foundation suit, which calls back to a comic book run in which Spidey joined Reed Richards in a new team with snazzy white outfits, and the other is the fan favorite Bag-Man costume, referring to a time when...

Though Shadow of the Tomb Raider recently graced consoles and PC (our review), it’s fair to say that Marvel’s Spider-Man is still the game of the moment – a title that’ll likely be covered in webs until the inevitable arrival of Red Dead Redemption 2 next month.
And while PS4 owners have gobbled up Marvel’s Spider-Man in their droves, the story campaign has left players with just one question: when can we expect the sequel?
To its credit, developer Insomniac Games still has the City That Never Sleeps Dlc bundle to worry about before it can begin dedicating resources to the inevitable (?) follow-up. And that’s exactly what the game’s creative director Bryan Intihar told IGN in a recent interview, stating:

Aside from the Avengers Tower, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes won’t be featured in Spider-Man whatsoever.
That’s according to Bryan Intihar, creative director at Insomniac Games, who took to Twitter to reaffirm that, no, the studio’s soon-to-be-released PS4 exclusive won’t feature any member of the Avengers – or any other Marvel hero, for that matter.
This presumably includes Venom and Carnage as well, while those rumors linking Daredevil with a potential cameo appear to be total hogwash. Intihar’s comments don’t necessarily rule out the possibility of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes being introduced via Dlc, but at least for now, it seems Peter Parker will be going up against some of Spidey’s greatest ever foes – think the Sinister Six et. al – on his own.

Marvel Games has booked its place at San Diego Comic-Con. And don’t we know all about it.
The video game publisher is bringing its big guns to Hall H on Thursday, July 19th, with Insomniac’s open-world Spider-Man game expected to top the bill. Greg Miller of Kinda Funny will be hosting the panel in two weeks’ time, where fans will seemingly get a glimpse of “many unannounced surprises” from Marvel Games.
Some new gameplay footage of Spider-Man is all but certain, what with Insomniac’s PS4 exclusive slated for release in September, but that Sdcc’s official listing (h/t Cbm) alludes to the fact that “attendees will see exciting sneak peeks of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel Powers United Vr, and Marvel Battle Lines, with many unannounced surprises and panel exclusives” tells us that Square Enix’s Avengers project may be making an appearance, too.

You can’t go anywhere on the internet right now without seeing something Spider-Man related, and for good reason. Whether it be television, film, comics or video games, the world’s most iconic friendly neighborhood hero is, right now, infiltrating every corner of entertainment media like the agile, hard-to-catch superhero that he is.
It’s almost hard to believe, given the relative volatility of the film franchise and its numerous reboots, that the character is enjoying such a surge in popularity. But then again, with the web slinger now – finally – officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and respected developer Insomniac Games currently at the helm of a brand new Spidey game, the cause of the resurgence becomes rather obvious.
As of now, it’s too early to say whether the studio can replicate the critical success of Spider-Man: Homecoming with its upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, but early impressions certainly point to a resounding yes.

Sony’s unveiling of the first extended gameplay for Insomniac’s Spider-Man back in June saved what was an otherwise unremarkable showing for the PlayStation 4 at this year’s E3. Even taking into account that new footage for other exclusives like Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and zombie survivor Days Gone squeezed cheers out of the audience, it was Marvel’s iconic web-slinger that stole the show.
The spandex-clad superhero swinging into view was a definite highlight of not just Sony’s show, but the entirety of E3, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting more details for Peter Parker’s next video game adventure ever since. Thankfully, Insomniac has seemingly heard our prayers, as a newly released featurette gives us just that.
