Los Angeles, July 3 (Ians) Ewan McGregor preferred to show his kids one of his films ‘just for the laughs ‘. The actor used to show the toilet scene from ‘Trainspotting’ to his kids.
“I wasn’t there when (my daughter) Clara watched Trainspotting for the first time. But I did used to show my kids ‘the toilet scene’. Just for a laugh. It’s a unique situation, perhaps, for a father to be able to show his children footage of him going down the toilet,” he said at Karlovy Vary Film Festival, recently, Variety reported.
The trauma didn’t stop there. “I have a memory of showing Clara ‘Moulin Rouge!’, however. I think she was 9 years old. I put it on, and then I hear this wailing and crying. I rushed in, asking if I should switch it off and she went: ‘Noooo!'”

Emilia Jones earned a lot of attention as the star of 2021’s big Sundance winner and eventual Best Picture Oscar winner Coda, and the praise should be continuing this year as she not only stars in Cat People but also Fairyland, which had its world premiere in Park City on Friday.
Sofia Coppola serves as lead producer for this American Zoetrope production of Andrew Durham’s feature film writing and directing debut, and it is a memorable one that is unlikely to leave a dry eye in the house. It had me in quiet tears by the end of this film adaptation of Alysia Abbott’s moving 2013 memoir of growing up in San Francisco with her widowed father just as gay pride was taking hold and the AIDS epidemic was on the horizon. This is not a sweeping panorama of what happened there in the 1970s and ’80s, but rather...

Fairyland is a father-daughter coming-of-age story that Durham adapted from Alysia Abbott’s Fairyland: A Memoir of My Father. The book originally published by W. W. Ashley Benson, Shiloh Fernandez, Logan Miller, Frank Whaley and Jay Pharoah are starring in “Private Property,” a remake of the 1960 noir film of the same title.
The movie recently wrapped production in Los Angeles and was written, produced, and directed by Chadd Harbold. The original film, written and directed by “Outer Limits” creator Leslie Stevens, was out of circulation for 30 years and considered lost, until it was restored and re-released by Cinelicious Pics in 2016 to critical acclaim.
In the remake, Benson stars as Kathryn, a struggling actress and unfulfilled housewife who becomes involved with her new gardener Ben, played by Fernandez. As he gives her the attention and sensitivity she craves, they start to fall for each other. But, in true noir fashion, Ben is not all that he seems.
Benson is best known for her work in “Spring Breakers,” “Her Smell” and the teen mystery-drama series “Pretty Little Liars.

Screen Media has acquired North American rights to “The Birthday Cake,” a mob crime drama that boasts a murderer’s row of talent.
The film may be Jimmy Giannopoulos’ feature directorial debut, but the director attracted such stars and veterans as Shiloh Fernandez, Ewan McGregor, Val Kilmer, Lorraine Bracco, William Fichtner, Ashley Benson, Luis Guzman, Paul Sorvino, Vincent Pastore, Aldis Hodge, Penn Badgley, Emory Cohen, and Jeremy Allen White. That’s partly because the filmmaker spent years working in short films and music with artists including Miley Cyrus, A$AP Rocky and Kid Cudi. Screen Media will release the film in theaters and on demand in June 2021.

The Favourite director Yorgos Lanthimos has started shooting in Greece on a new short that will star Emma Stone and Damien Bonnard. Plot details are under wraps. The project will combine visual arts and classical music and will be screened as part of an installation, accompanied by live orchestral ensembles, on May 22, 23 and 27, 2020, at the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the Greek National Opera at Snfcc. The film is the second commission in the series The Artist on the Composer, a collaboration between the Greek National Opera and non-profit art organization Neon. The first was made by Greek artist Nikos Navridis. They are funded by grants from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (Snf), which is looking to enhance the Greek National Opera’s artistic outreach.
