“La La Land” is headed for Broadway: producer Marc Platt and Lionsgate announced on Tuesday that Damien Chazelle’s six-time Oscar-winning film is being adapted for the stage.
“I’m thrilled to reunite with Lionsgate and the incredible team behind ‘La La Land’ to adapt the movie for the Broadway stage, the next exciting chapter in its evolution,” said Platt in a statement shared with TheWrap. “We’ve assembled a world-class team to create a musical that will delight ‘La La Land’s millions of current fans and introduce the property to a whole new audience.”
Bartlett Sher will direct from the book by Ayad Akhtar and Matthew Decker. The stage adaptation will feature music by the film’s composer, two-time Oscar winner Justin Hurwitz and lyrics by the Oscar and Tony-winning composing team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

“Wonder,” the children’s book by R.J. Palacio that was adapted into a 2017 movie starring Julia Roberts, is headed to Broadway as a new musical, Lionsgate along with Palacio and producer Jill Furman announced Tuesday.
Furman, the Tony-winning producer behind “In the Heights,” is taking the lead on the new musical that will bring the story of Auggie, the boy with facial differences who just wants to blend in, to the stage.

Lionsgate is launching the “Now You See Me Live” magic show tour, based on its film franchise and in partnership with The Works Entertainment.
The studio announced the project on Wednesday, touting the performances as state-of-the-art magic with cutting-edge technology, surprise twists, and never-before-seen illusions from some of the greatest magicians in the world.
The global tour will kick off in China, one of the highest-grossing international markets for the film series, in November. The Works Entertainment are the producers and creative team behind the magic show “The Illusionists.”
As with the movies, the shows will feature four “horsemen”: “The Showman” James More from “Britain’s Got Talent”; “The Manipulator” Florian Sainvet, a two-time French Magic Champion and finalist of “France’s Got Talent”; “The Escape Artist” Sabine van Diemen from “Holland’s Got Talent” and West End Productions’ “The Illusionists”; and “The Mentalist” Enzo Weyne from “France’s Got Talent.
