Greg Smith comes from a long career of competing in several sports discipline.
Greg won several state honors in high school as a football, basketball, and track athletes in his four years. After high school, Greg took a university scholarship to Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas before transferring to Western State Colorado University after two years (formerly known as Western State College). Greg finished his college career 4-time Indoor Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference 60m and 200m sprint champion. In 1996, he finished nationally #2 rank indoor 60m sprinter in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field. Greg also received All-American honors.
His professional career consists of free agent contracts at both NFL Philadelphia Eagles and CFL Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Greg Smith signed a contract in 1996 with the Philadelphia Eagles and competed on the team for 6 months in training camp before being released. In 1997, he signed a contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and competed for the team in the preseason before being release after 3 months. In 1999 while working in Australia, Greg got the opportunity to play for the National Rugby League Pro team, Newcastle Knights where he played a few reserve games and one first grade game.
In 2007, Greg began coaching athletes who needed to learn how to sprint in sports such as Track & Field and Football. He also worked as a strength & conditioning consultant for several athletes as well. In 2012, Greg coached his first Olympic athlete who competed in the London 2012 Olympics for the Australia 4x100m relay team.
In late 2013, Greg took on a role as the Running Coach on the movie production "Unbroken" where he work with main actors such as Jack O'Connell who he helped train for his role as Louie Zamperini as a high school state champion runner and as a 1936 Olympic 5,000 meter runner. Greg also worked alongside Angelina Jolie and other assistant directors to help choreograph all the running scenes shown in the movie.
In 2015, Greg still works as a Running Coach, Strength & Conditioning Consultant and Personal Trainer in Sydney Australia under his own private business MVP Speed Academy.
