Simon has worked in various positions in Art Department for companies such as Foxtel, Netflix, STAN and the ABC. He has worked under Laurie Richardson as Scenic Artist on the Sci-Fi epic feature, 'I am Mother' and learnt tricks of the trade in set building with Paul Spencer on the Channel 7 Series 'Wanted' and the yet to be released 'Escape from Pretoria' starring Daniel Radcliff. Diversifying across roles, he has assisted Geoff Tarr in Stand-by Props on the Tim Minchin series (yet to be released) 'Upright', and worked with Scott Bird as A Buyer/Dresser on the series 'Pine Gap'.
Past roles in professional productions include Best Boy with CrackerJack lighting in Far North Queensland, Marine Assistant with Gert Jacoby (including B Camera Unit, The Thin Red Line), and various roles on major TVC's in North Queensland including QANTAS and JetStar International. He also played a big role in bringing digital media into Aboriginal Corporations working with such greats as Seaman Dan, David Hudson and Noel Person in communities from Wujal Wujal to Thursday Island.
Simon has worked as production Designer in successful Indie short films, gaining awards for Design in 'Playing with Fire' and 'Wishing you Well'. He wrote and directed the black comedy 'The Ton' which is sure to do well on the circuit having only just been completed at time of writing (2019)
Simon's greatest strengths are his wide experience over a long period of time in film and production, and the versatility that comes with it. He will bring a wealth of potential into any production and is concurrently advancing his own projects and looking to emulate the successes of previous Australian greats like Paul Hogan, Russel Crowe and Sam Worthington.
