Justice League Dark has been having a bit of a hard time getting off the ground. Once set to be directed by Guillermo del Toro, the project eventually fell into Doug Liman’s lap, at which point, it looked like things were good to go. However, the Edge of Tomorrow helmer shocked us all a few months back when he announced that he’d be walking from the film, citing scheduling conflicts as the reason for his departure.
Currently, Warner Bros. has yet to find a replacement, but from what we understand, the studio is aggressively searching for someone to fill the director’s chair and whoever they bring on board will “play a major role in the new” DC cinematic universe. For a while there, it sounded like It director Andy Muschietti and Argentinian filmmaker Damián Szifron were the top choices to replace Liman, with a few other contenders coming into contention as well,...

This is a movie that’s been in the works for around five solid years. For the longest time, fan favorite helmer Guillermo del Toro was attached to the movie, and in 2015, he unceremoniously dropped out of said project. In his place was Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman, but it didn’t take long for him to hop off in order to focus on the adaptation of the Ya novel Chaos Walking. Now, it sounds like Warner Bros. may actually be closer to zeroing in on a director for the film. According to YouTuber Grace Randolph, who runs the channel Beyond the Trailer, they have two...

Even aside from originals like Edgar Wright's Baby Driver and Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk, this year's blockbusters have been of an unusually high standard. Wonder Woman pulled the Dceu out of its critical nosedive, War For The Planet Of The Apes is a gorgeous and emotional conclusion to the reboot trilogy, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming proved that Marvel's ever expanding continuity is still going strong.

“Edge of Tomorrow” ($0.99, 80% off)
In a summer full of lousy Hollywood fare, go back to 2014 and re-experience Doug Liman’s brilliant sci-fi romp. Written by master screenwriter Chris McQuarrie, “Edge of Tomorrow” pushes Tom Cruise to rock bottom and kills him off in the first 10 minutes. And then does it again, and again and a few dozen more times. Consider it a video game movie that doesn’t need video game source material to make it work,...

Christoph Waltz is prepping his directorial debut, The Worst Marriage in Georgetown, for which he will also produce and star. In the film, Waltz will play Albrecht Muth, a man who sought to enter the social elite and the privileged political circles by marrying the wealthy, 71-year-old Viola Drath when he was just 26. The couple threw lavish parties as he climbed the social ladder, but Muth increasingly lied about his background, and he was ultimately revealed when Drath turned up murdered many years later. Muth was convicted of first-degree murder and was sentenced to 50 years in prison just last year.
The Worst Marriage in Georgetown is actually based on a New York Times Magazine article of the same name by Franklin Foer (read it here). Variety reports that Pulitzer Prize winner David Auburn (Proof) will be adapting the screenplay and that Erica Steinberg (Inglorious Basterds) and Nicolas Chartier will also be producing.
