In what has become a disturbing trend, James Charles is the latest celebrity to leak their own nudes in the wake of a hack attack -- following similar forced disclosures by Bella Thorne and Whitney Cummings.
“Just in case I ever get hacked again, here’s the only nude I’ve ever taken,” the 20-year-old tweeted over the weekend, with a link to a mirror selfie showing off his nude rear. “Can’t threaten me with it now. Get a life.”
Charles also isn’t the only YouTuber to be hacked in recent days. A hacker group that goes by the moniker ‘chuckling’ also claimed to have breached the accounts of Shane Dawson, deceased YouTuber Etika, Amanda Cerny, and Andrew 'King Bach' Bachelor, Insider reports. Hackers posted offensive tweets on those accounts and threatened to leak Charles’ iCloud information. Charles’ account was hacked for over an hour, Insider reports, briefly went down altogether,...

The biggest recurring themes of last week’s NewFronts -- an annual digital advertising confab founded by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (Iab) -- were audio content and brand safety.
At least according to Christine Peterson, the U.S. digital investment lead at Mindshare -- a global media agency that says it bills in excess of $34.5 billion and counts more than 7,000 employees. “The new word [is] audio,” said Peterson, who says she was attending the event series on behalf of 60 clients, while the other major trend was “a refocus on brand safety and suitability.”
Peterson’s observations were right on the money. The multi-channel YouTube network Studio71 made podcasts one of the central announcements of its presentation, including a brand new millennial love advice series called OHoney, co-hosted by digital stars Amanda Cerny and Sommer Ray. “This is definitely the era of the producer,” declared Caroline Christopher, Head of Development at Oath Studios, during a panel at Stareable Fest 2018.
In doing so, she aptly summarized several pieces of recent news, from FX Chief John Landgraf acknowledging that peak TV has yet to peak as we enter a “gilded age of television,” to At&T’s new mandate for HBO to dramatically increase its programming slate, which itself came on the heels of Netflix’s hiring spree of TV mega-producers like Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy, and networks cultivating digital-first creators like Insecure’s Issa Rae and Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. Perhaps the only thing that is clear about the state of the television industry is that change is coming to how Hollywood creates content.

Back in June 2018, the labor union SAG-AFTRA (aka Screen Actors Guild • American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) made headlines by signing what it called an "historic" deal with subscription video on-demand service Zeus. The video platform lists newfangled celebrities and influential powerhouses Amanda Cerny, DeStorm Power, and Andrew ‘King Bach’ Bachelor among its co-founders. Zeus's partnership with the 80-something-year-old entertainment institution is meant to protect those stars, other Zeus creators, and the digital content they all create.
The deal received that "historic" qualifier because it also represents the first major accomplishment of SAG-aftra's new concerted effort to entice digital media creators to join its more than 160,000 member union by affording them the same rights and services it's been giving the traditional entertainment set for the better part of the last century.

There Are A Lot of Subscription Video On-Demand Services, But Who's Going To Pay For Them All?
Even though Netflix is no longer the nation’s most valuable entertainment company (a miss on quarterly subscriber growth sent shares back below Fox-buying Disney), it still can take credit for the recent stampede of subscription video services streaming into the market.
Now, Netflix and established competitors such as HBO Now, Amazon Prime, Hulu, CBS All Access, and ESPN+ are about to be joined in the fight for subscription dollars by DC Universe, Walmart, Spotify, a second Disney service, and Apple, among others.
On a much smaller scale, this past week Zeus launched launched as a $3/month subscription channel from online influencers King Bach, DeStorm Power, and Amanda Cerny. Kid-focused Pocket.watch also announced a $15 million funding round led by its putative competitor, Nickelodeon owner Viacom.

SAG-AFTRA, which represents screen actors as well as those in the television and radio space, signed a deal with subscription video platform Zeus, co-founded by social stars Amanda Cerny, DeStorm Power, and Andrew ‘King Bach’ Bachelor.
Per the deal, which was announced today during Social Media Week Los Angeles, content creators on Zeus will gain a direct route to SAG-aftra membership, according to an exclusive report by Variety. Zeus content will also get union coverage from SAG-aftra.
SAG-aftra called the agreement with Zeus “historic,” according to Variety’s report. “Zeus’ business model lives at the intersection of entertainment, technology, and storytelling, and it is essential that we set a precedent to protect our members in this space,” said the organization’s national executive director, David White.
Cerny, Power, and Bachelor, all of whom originally gained recognition on Vine, announced Zeus in November 2017, nearly a year after Twitter shut down the six-second video app.

Unwatchable even by the subterranean standards of a direct-to-video Nicolas Cage thriller, director York Shackleton’s “211” is the kind of low-grade schlock that leaves you with a newfound respect for the basic competence that most bad movies bring to the table. Not even the opening credits feel totally credible, as they insist the film is “based on a screenplay” by the filmmaker, a point of attribution that doubles as a brutal self-own.
These are but a few of the many haunting questions that loom over “211”: “What?,” the more existential “why?,” and of course “wait… how the hell did this movie about war profiteers in Afghanistan suddenly become a heartwarming story about a black teenager who learns how to stop worrying and love white cops?”
Also, when the film’s IMDb trivia page says that “Nicolas Cage read the script in 2014,” was that the only time? And finally: “What the hell is a ‘211,’ anyway?...

Snapchat is drastically losing favor among social influencers, according to a new study by social marketing company Mediakix, which found that Stories usage was down 33% over the course of a six-month period ended last August.
Accordingly, influencers are now posting Instagram Stories twice as often as Snapchat Stories, reports Mediakix, which brokers deals with many top influencers and says it has noticed a decline in Snapchat inquiries.
The study examined the number of Stories posted to Snapchat and Instagram by 12 influencers over the course of a 30-day period in August. The creators surveyed included: Alexis Ren, Alex Lange, Amanda Cerny, Arielle Vandenberg, Curtis Lepore, the Eh Bee Family, Hannah Stocking, King Bach, Lele Pons, Logan Paul, Matt Cutshall (pictured above), and Shay Mitchell. It then compared findings to comparable figures gathered from the same creators six months prior.
