Endeavor Content senior vice president Kristen Figeroid has exited the agency as others in the unit’s sales and distribution unit prepare to head back to WME, sources close to the situation told Variety.
Figeroid joined Endeavor Content in 2018 as senior VP of sales and distribution. Her departure last week was amicable, one insider noted, and the executive is exploring a return to working with boutique and international-focused film finance and sales agencies.
The film sales team at Endeavor Content, meanwhile, is set for a return to WME in the wake of the agreement the agency signed earlier this year with the Writers Guild of America. The deal that settled a nearly two-year standoff over TV and film packaging also requires them to divest themselves of 80% of Endeavor Content by year’s end, while talent agency packaging of TV series and film projects will mostly cease to be as of June 30, 2022.

“We don’t want to produce, that’s not our goal,” says Chris Rice, co-president of Endeavor Content. The content division of talent agency Wme-img does, however, want to disrupt the mechanics behind production as well as find business where it historically does not exist.
Rice oversees the company’s global TV team while co-president Graham Taylor looks after film. It is on the small screen that Endeavor Content has been making the most recent headlines, with a number of high-profile deals for series including Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie’s The Night Manager and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Sandra Oh-fronted Killing Eve.
“Our entire business is built around providing infrastructure and services—whether that’s support, sales, financing or business affairs—to some of the world’s most fantastic producers, to offer them whatever they need to operate their business in the most effective way,” says Rice. “But we are not producers.

The scripted drama boom is changing the entire TV industry. But is it a change for the better?
“It’s an exciting time,” is a refrain now most commonly uttered by those in the business of making content for the Us streaming services.
Not only have Netflix, Amazon and co fuelled a surge in the volume of scripted content, subscription video on demand services (SVoDs) are also doing their bit, as they expand and evolve, to change the business and art of high-end television.
“Partly it’s driven by the SVoDs, partly it’s driven by the retrenching of the feature film business,” says Ted Miller, co-head of the television department at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), whose client Matthew Weiner is among the high-profile writer-producers working on streaming series.

Exclusive: The “last frontier” for high-end drama is opening up, according to industry experts.
After scoring a Chinese distribution deal with Youku Tudou in April, BBC-amc spy series The Night Manager has clocked up a hefty 40 million views on the platform, making it one of the most successful high-end drama exports to the territory.
While the Emmy-nominated series is by no means the first from UK to break out in the market – Downton Abbey and Sherlock are among those to have previously excelled – the ratings success reinforces the growing opportunity for high end English-language drama in China, where conditions and context are creating key opportunities for international content creators.
