Alastair was born in Brisbane, Australia. His father was a jackaroo in the Australian Outback and his mother a special education teacher. Alastair studied Acting at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), who's alumni include
Hugh Jackman,
Jai Courtney,
Frances O'Connor,
Tim Minchin and
Dominic Purcell. Upon graduation Alastair was awarded an ArtStart Grant, this esteemed award is bestowed upon a select few exciting early-career artists by The Australia Council for the Arts (the Australian Government's arts funding and advisory body). Alastair's television credits include; Morgan in
Top of the Lake (2013) (BBC Worldwide), Alan in
Rake (2010) (ABC), Melvyn in
Deadline Gallipoli (2015) (Foxtel/NBC) and Cal in
Home and Away (1988) (7 Network). Alastair's feature film credits include; On The Move and highly-awarded short films; The Bookshop, Animal and A Note To Self. Alastair has worked with world-renowned acting coaches
