Augusta, April 8 (Ians) Korea’s Kh Lee brilliantly carded the joint low score of the day with a 5-under 67 on Friday to make the weekend rounds of the weather-hit Masters Tournament and was joined by countrymen Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim.
The year’s opening major was disrupted by inclement weather twice in the afternoon before play was suspended for the day, but well before American Brooks Koepka signed for a bogey-free 67 and 12-under 132 total, tied for third lowest in the tournament history, to seize the clubhouse lead at Augusta National.
World No. 3 Jon Rahm of Spain was sitting on 9-under through nine holes of his second round before being called off the golf course while amateur Sam Bennett delivered a second straight 68 to sit in solo third on 8-under.
Legend Tiger Woods, a five-time Masters champion and 82-time PGA Tour winner, was also battling for a record-equalling 23rd...

The Albany (Bahamas), Nov 28 (Ians) Tiger Woods makes his long-awaited return to action this week as the 15-time Major winner competes for the first time since July at the Hero World Challenge.
Before that the only events he turned up for were the Masters and the PGA Championship. Yet, between now and the end of 2022, Woods will be seen in action at the Hero World Challenge, a high-profile event that has just 20 players, all of them barring three are inside Top-23 of the world.
Two of the other three, Kevin Kisner (31) and Corey Conners, a late replacement for the injured Hideki Matsuyama (19) add to the field. Only Woods, the host is specially ‘exempt’ at 1277, not having played since the Open and only three events for a total of nine rounds – four at the Masters, three at PGA before withdrawing and two at the Open before missing the cut at St Andrews.

Quail Hollow (USA), Sep 25 (Ians) The International Team dubbed as the underdogs and a pushover for the strong United States team have put up a fine fight. While the first two sessions saw them fight but lose out 1-4 and then again 1-4, they did a much better job of scoring in the third and fourth sessions.
Led by the baby-faced Kim Joohyung also called Tom Kim, because of his childhood love for toy trains, and the veteran Aussie Adam Scott, the Internationals tied the US 2-2 in the Round 3 Foursomes and then won the Round Four Fourball 3-1. Kim and Scott won both their matches, in the morning and afternoon sessions on the busy third day.
The score now stands 11-7, way better than what it was 8-2 after first two sessions. The 12 singles will be played on Sunday (late night in India).

Charlotte (North Carolina), Sep 21 (Ians) Veteran star Adam Scott has touted rookie Tom Kim as the International Team’s “little secret weapon” as they look to upset the odds against a power-packed United States in the Presidents Cup which begins on Thursday.
The 42-year-old Scott, who is making a record 10th appearance at Quail Hollow Club but has yet to be on a winning team, thinks the young Korean could be one of the stars this week.
“I think young enthusiasm, and he’s a confident young kid,” Scott said about the 20-year-old, who is one of four record Koreans on the team.
“Tom could be our little secret weapon. He’s won on the PGA Tour, and this is the next challenge in his career. He’s obviously good enough to do it on the big stage. This is his first real opportunity.

Atlanta (US), Aug 29 (Ians) Korean star, Sungjae Im, came agonisingly close to one of the greatest victories by an Asian player when he finished tied second alongside World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler as Rory McIlroy scripted a historic third FedExCup for a record third time as he came back from six shots to win the Tour Championships.
McIlroy, who had started the week, six shots behind top seed Scheffler under the staggered start system, fell 10 behind within two holes on the first day as he started the first round with a triple bogey and a bogey. From there he clawed back into contention. Still, he was six behind when the final round start.
With things just not happening for Scheffler, the Northern Ireland golfer, McIlroy shot 4-under 66 after his 63 in the third round.
Scheffler collapsed with 73 and finished tied second with Sungjae Im. Im may well have been atop the leaderboard...

Augusta (Georgia), April 9 (Ians) Japanese golfer Hideki Matsuyama’s never-say-die attitude has now put him in the hunt for potentially more golfing glory at the Augusta National as the defending champion fired a superb 3-under 69 to share second place with three others, and lie five strokes behind world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler of the […]...

Hideki Matsuyama made history on Sunday, becoming the first Japanese man to win one of golf’s four majors. His victory at The Masters handed CBS the most viewers last night. Due to the nature of live sports, the below fast-national Nielsen numbers for CBS should be considered subject to upward adjustment. In other words, while CBS and ABC appear to currently be tied for first place among adults 18-49, it is very likely CBS will adjust up (and away from ABC in the demo) when final figures become available. For now, we’ll report what we’ve got. Also of note last night, Telemundo finished third in ratings, mostly thanks to airing the movie “Miracle in Cell No. 7.” The previous Sunday was Easter, which had some pretty low TV-viewing levels. Ponte Vedra Beach (Florida), March 13 (Ians) Ten years after watching one of his golf idols K.J. Choi make history at The Players Championship, Korea's Sungjae Im put himself in prime position to emulate the feat in the PGA Tour's flagship tournament, even as India's Anirban Lahiri crashed out.
With this, Lahiri has now failed to progress beyond the second round in four of the five starts at this PGA Tour event. He carded 78 on first day and 72 in the second round, and the total of 150 was not enough for him to make the cut.
As a 13-year-old, Im watched replays of Choi's momentous triumph in 2011 at The Stadium Course at Tpc Sawgrass, which helped sparked his American dream. On Friday, Im charged into contention with a solid 6-under 66 in the second round, highlighted by a career-first six consecutive birdies.

Orlando, March 6 (Ians) For the third consecutive year, Korean standout Sungjae Im entered the weekend rounds at the Arnold Palmer Invitational inside the top 10 on the leaderboard. He finished in the top-three in his first two appearances at Bay Hill Club & Lodge and hopes to be third-time lucky by winning the prestigious PGA Tour tournament.

He trails leader Corey Conners by four while Martin Laird sits in solo second at 8-under. Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy and Lanto Griffin are a further stroke back in share of third place.

Looks like we spoke (published) too soon. On Sunday, this TV editor and golf fan rushed to his computer to share Dustin Johnson’s remarkable putt at the BMW Championship’s 18th hole, forcing a sudden-death playoff with Jon Rahm. But then Rahm Immediately upstaged D.J.
Johnson had virtually no chance to force a playoff with the tournament’s leader Rahm, especially after D.J.’s tee shot at 18 found the rough.
But then, a miracle happened on NBC. And then another.

Apparently Tiger Woods hasn’t learned his lesson about exhibition match-play TV specials — and we’re thrilled about that.
On Oct. 21, Woods, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and Hideki Matsuyama will tee it up for GolfTV’s “The Challenge: Japan Skins.” The four PGA Tour golfers will compete for a total purse of $350,000, with hole values divided like this:
Holes 1 through 6: $10,000 per skin
Holes 7 through 12: $15,000 per skin
Holes 13 through 17: $20,000 per skin
Hole 18: $100,000 super skin
So yeah, it’s no $9 million “The Match,” but we’ll still watch.
