After months of hijinks, Marvel Studios Television (find more on that change here) announced yesterday that its upcoming WandaVision sequel will be titled Agatha All Along.
We're getting a two-episode Disney+ premiere on September 18 and, yesterday evening, Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, and Patti LuPone were on hand for the Walt Disney Company's Upfront presentation in New York to discuss the series.
"The thing about this show which I thought was so thrilling [is] that Jac Schaeffer, who wrote it and also wrote WandaVision...it was very important to her and Mary Livanos, our producer, that there be as minimal CGI," Hahn explained, "so there's very little that is not practical magic or just our magic.
"That was a very exciting something to set up that we were able to prove again and again we could do it," the actress continued. "So, it's minimal CGI, but that was very thrilling. [The] sets are incredible.

Captain Marvel is a superhero who has gone through some tumultuous times. The character otherwise known as Carol Danvers might be an A-lister now, but it took a long time to grant her the status she's since become synonymous with. When she first debuted in "Marvel Super-Heroes" #13 back in 1987, Carol was known as Ms. Marvel. She was created, in part, to capitalize on the women's liberation movement that had been taking the country by storm for nearly 20 years — but the effects of the movement wouldn't create lasting change for her character for a while.
Carol's bizarre journey was recently catalogued in the insider book "MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios." It didn't take long for her to get her own solo series, "Ms. Marvel," in the late '70s, but she was frequently written by men, few of whom fully understood the feminist movement they were meant to be embodying.

The arrival of “WandaVision” on Blu-ray has brought with it a first look at set footage from the upcoming spinoff series, “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.” The series finds Kathryn Hahn returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as disgraced witch Agatha Harkness. Not much is known about the show, which was first announced in October 2021, but the set footage shows Agatha strolling through the woods with Marvel newcomer Joe Locke (“Heartstopper”). The cast also includes Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone and Caulfield Ford (reprising the role of Dottie from “WandaVision”).

Kathryn Hahn is reprising her role of Agatha Harkness in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries on Disney+.
With the Blu-Ray release of WandaVision, Marvel Studios snuck a little preview of the spinoff where Hahn and creators tease the making of the series.
Jac Schaeffer, head writer and executive producer, said she talked to Marvel about developing something else and revealed that everything that she pitched “included a storyline about Agatha.”
“I remember Kevin [Feige] saying to me, ‘We really should think about an actual Agatha show,’ and I was like, ‘Where do I sign for that job?'” Schaeffer recalled.
“The character is so deep and heartfelt and dangerous,” co-executive producer Mary Livanos said. “Continuing the story of Agatha and getting to know her more was immediately an imperative for us as creatives. There would be nothing more delicious to Agatha Harkness than to be in a spinoff.”

With the big reveal of the X-Men in The Marvels' post-credit scene, fans are already speculating about the team's place in the MCU — with one theory being confirmed by executive producer Mary Livanos.
At the movie's end, Monica Rambeau chooses to remain in an alternate universe to close the dimensional rift between that world and the MCU. Fans next see her in the movie's post-credit scene, wherein she woke up and was greeted by Kelsey Grammar's Beast and Lashana Lynch's Binary, standing in front of a giant X.

The cast of box office-beleaguered The Marvels couldn’t even attend its own cast-and-crew screening, held Nov. 8 at Westwood’s Fox Village Theatre. That’s because the screening began at 7:30 p.m. — but, even though the actors strike ended that night, SAG-AFTRA members had to wait until 12:01 a.m. before they could participate in studio events.
Yet that doesn’t explain the absence of Nia DaCosta. The director had attended the film’s toned-down premiere in Las Vegas the night before. But, according to miffed Marvel staffers grumbling at the Nov. 8 screening, DaCosta opted to ditch the cast-and-crew screening for a birthday party instead — for herself. (The Candyman helmer turned 34 that night.)
Marvels executive producer Mary Livanos introduced the film in DaCosta’s absence.
A rep for DaCosta responded that “it would be quite disrespectful and upsetting to suggest Nia has anything other than adoration for her creative team.

Imagine you're given the ability to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sandbox, getting the opportunity to bring some of your favorite comics characters to the screen. A dream come true for many a fan, no doubt, but then reality sets in: How does one go about actually making these movies? How do you work out the logistics of shooting scenes in outer space while balancing the various continuities of several major characters, not to mention introducing new ones?
Executive producer Mary Livanos is someone who's stepped up to just such a challenge. She's no stranger to the expansive, cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, helping shepherded such hits as "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," "Captain Marvel," and "WandaVision" to the big and small screens, respectively. With "The Marvels," Livanos tackles arguably her biggest project yet, bringing Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), and Monica Rambeau...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is making its return to the big screen once again as "The Marvels" is hitting theaters. This not only serves as a sequel to 2019's "Captain Marvel," but it's also building on Disney+ shows like "WandaVision" and "Ms. Marvel" with a pair of new heroes joining Carol Danvers to form a new super team. Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani are uniting with Brie Larson as Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, respectively. As the catchphrase goes: Higher, further, faster.
It should not be lost on MCU fans that this is the first new team we've been introduced to in some time. If we don't count the trio of Spider-Men at the end of "No Way Home," we would have to go back to "Eternals." That makes this an important film in Phase 5. But is it important enough to have a credits scene? That's what we're here to discuss!

Marvel Studios has released the final trailer for The Marvels just prior to its release in a few days. While the trailers prior to this one have emphasized the comedy and the dysfunctional dynamic between Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, this final one emphasizes the drama of the looming threat on the universe. The trailer connects to the events of Avengers: Endgame as the clips imply that Thanos’ work will not go unfinished. It also calls back to the nostalgic days of Avengers with clips of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.
The official synopsis reads,
In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary,...

“The Marvels” final trailer has confirmed a super-cameo from Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie.

This post contains spoilers for "Secret Invasion."
The Marvel Cinematic Universe's "It's All Connected" approach has always been a double-edged sword. When every MCU film and series builds on those that came before them, you can't just sweep a misstep like "Thor: The Dark World" under the rug. In the past, however, the franchise has managed to turn its lemons into lemonade, much like it did when it made "The Dark World" a key aspect of Thor's arc in "Avengers: Endgame."
Now, the House of Ideas is facing what might be its greatest challenge yet thanks to "Secret Invasion." What could've been a triumphant series adaptation of the acclaimed 2008 comic book story by writer Brian Michael Bendis and illustrator Leinil Francis Yu has instead become the McU's biggest faux pas. Adding insult to the injury that is the show's bad reviews, "Secret Invasion" had some of the lowest viewership...

“The Marvels” director Nia DaCosta (“Candyman”) said “superhero fatigue” is real and detailed how the “Captain Marvel” sequel will counter that by being “wacky” and “silly.”
For some, you never get too many superhero films — for others, there may be some burnout. Nevertheless, Hollywood is churning cape films out, including the upcoming “The Marvels.” During an interview with Total Film Magazine, DaCosta opened up about how the movie will stand out against its Marvel predecessors.
“I think superhero fatigue absolutely exists,” the director said. “The biggest difference from other MCU movies is that it’s really wacky, and silly.”
She continued: “The worlds we go to in this movie are worlds unlike you’ve seen in the MCU. Bright worlds that you haven’t seen before.”

Nia DaCosta is the director of The Marvels and is opening up about superhero movie fatigue and why her film is different from the rest.
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to build in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, things have seemingly slowed down in the superhero world. A Marvel film is not a guarantee of a box office hit anymore which has many questioning if superhero fatigue is real, something that DaCosta acknowledges.
“I think superhero fatigue absolutely exists,” DaCosta told Total Film magazine in their latest issue.
DaCosta was tasked with directing the Captain Marvel sequel that brings Brie Larson back to form a trio alongside Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris’s Monica Rambeau. The director of films like Little Woods and Candyman explained how The Marvels differentiates itself from the rest of the MCU movies.

In a new interview with the magazine Total Film, “The Marvels” director Nia DaCosta said Marvel fans should expect her forthcoming film to be on the lighter end of the superhero spectrum.
“The biggest difference from the other MCU movies to date is that it’s really wacky, and silly,” DaCosta said. “The worlds we go to in this movie are worlds unlike others you’ve seen in the MCU. Bright worlds that you haven’t seen before.”

“Candyman” filmmaker Nia DaCosta is making her superhero directorial debut with Marvel’s upcoming “The Marvels,” a sequel to “Captain Marvel” that teams Brie Larson’s eponymous superhero with Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau from “WandaVision” and Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan from “Ms. Marvel.” It’s been a shaky year for comic book tentpoles, with Marvel’s own “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and other films like “The Flash” and “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” flopping at the box office. Marvel is surely hoping “The Marvels” pans out more like “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” ($845 million worldwide), and DaCosta is highly aware that superhero fatigue is very real right now.

Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, gets her powers entangled with those of fellow heroes Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan in the second trailer for The Marvels, which has dropped just in time to generate Comic-Con buzz.
The sequel’s first trailer had Larson joined by Iman Vellani, the breakout of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel in the role of Kamala Khan, as well as Teyonah Parris as the grown-up version of Captain Marvel character Monica Rambeau, as they join forces to save the universe.

While Marvel Studios may not have a Comic-Con panel this year, the studio is taking advantage of the timing of the event to drop a brand new trailer for the “Captain Marvel” sequel “The Marvels.”
Directed by Nia DaCosta (“Candyman”), the story finds Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers beset by challenges as a figure from her past (played by Zawe Ashton) threatens to destroy everything she loves. Nick Fury is currently fighting a war with shape-shifting enemies on Marvel’s Secret Invasion, over on on Disney+. However, The Marvels will bring our favorite eye-patched former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. back in contact with his old friend, Carol Danvers, as he patrols threats that travel through our solar system from his space station, S.A.B.E.R. Danvers will also come face-to-face with her biggest fan, whom audiences met in her own show on the streamer, Ms. Marvel. Both will also now come in contact with Monica Rambeau, who had a prominent introduction in the series, Wandavision.
Marvel has just released the new trailer, which brings us a bit more of a peek into the predicament the unlikely team will find themselves in. Here, we get more of an explanation of how each Marvel teleports to the locations of the others when using their powers.

Last we saw Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) — in the post-credits scene of Disney+’s “Ms. Marvel” finale — she was suddenly in the bedroom of teenager Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani). How did she end up there? Well, as revealed in the footage shown at last year’s D23 Expo, it turns out that Carol, Kamala and Monica Rambeau (Teyonnah Parris) are now switching places each time they use their powers.
Now, in the first trailer for the “Captain Marvel” sequel, we see a whole lot more of that — and at the most inopportune moments too. It happens while Monica’s on a mission in space, resulting in Kamala going to space. It happens mid-battle. It happens even while Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) and...

Brie Larson is back as Captain Marvel, but this time, she has a whole cohort of fellow female superheroes.
Following the 2019 film “Captain Marvel,” sequel “The Marvels” is a continuation of Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel” starring Iman Vellani as the titular teen Marvel hero. “The Marvels” marks the first time Carole Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel (Vellani) have teamed up since their crossover moment in the “Ms. Marvel” finale with Larson’s post-credits cameo.
The first trailer for the continuation is, appropriately, tuned to the Beastie Boys’ “Intergalactic Planetary.” We see Teynoah Parris’ Monica up in space with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) only for some type of portal to open up and swap Monica with Kamala. A series of swaps, ending with Carol in Kamala’s room, sees the trio realize they’re bound together and that their powers can work together to create a team.

In the movies that comprise the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda) and Paul Bettany (Vision) are parts of the larger Avengers ensemble — but in Disney Plus’ limited series “WandaVision,” they took centerstage.
In the conversation between Kaley Cuoco (“The Flight Attendant”) and Olsen for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Olsen said the creative minds behind “WandaVision”— head writer Jac Schaeffer, director Matt Shakman and Marvel’s Mary Livanos — “almost included Paul and I like producers.”
But as such, she mostly ruled out returning to more “WandaVision” episodes in the future, despite the show’s popularity. Wanda’s arc will next Olsen her to the “Doctor Strange” sequel, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” which is scheduled for release on March 22, 2022. She began filming the movie in London days just after wrapping “WandaVision.”
“It’s definitely a limited series,” Olsen said.

Love or hate the “WandaVision” series finale, most fans can agree the Evan Peters casting fake out was a storytelling low point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Disney+ original series. The introduction of Peters as a recast Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver in episode five sent shockwaves through the MCU fandom as it was the first inclination that “WandaVision” might be dabbling with the multiverse. MCU fans were already on the lookout for multiverse clues, since before the series started airing it had been confirmed that “WandaVision” would lead into “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness,” where Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda/Scarlet Witch has a starring role.
Peters starred as Quicksilver in Fox’s “X-Men” series, while Aaron Taylor-Johnson starred as Quicksilver opposite Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Johnson’s Quicksilver was killed off in the movie. Following the Disney-Fox merger, the MCU had free...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t seen “The Series Finale,” the ninth and final episode of “WandaVision” on Disney Plus.
From their very first meeting about “WandaVision” to shooting the final scene of the game-changing Marvel Studios series for Disney Plus, actor Elizabeth Olsen and head writer and executive producer Jac Schaeffer have spent countless hours together crafting the story of how Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff grieved the death of Paul Bettany’s Vision. But when Olsen and Schaeffer recently joined Variety over Zoom to talk about the show, it had been many months since they had actually seen each other.
“It’s good to see you Lizzie!” Schaeffer said, using Olsen’s preferred nickname. “I was really looking forward to this, because I felt very solitary, in a bubble with all the press.”
Schaeffer and Olsen certainly know uncommon bubbles within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On “WandaVision,...

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “WandaVision” Episode 5.]
The latest episode of “WandaVision” ended with a bombshell twist that could fundamentally change the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years to come.
“WandaVision” Episode 5 ended with Wanda (Elizabeth Olson) opening her door and seeing Pietro Maximoff (Evan Peters), aka Quicksilver, her brother who died during the events of “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” But while the “Age of Ultron” version of Quicksilver was portrayed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the new version is played by Peters (reprising his role from 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past”). The reveal was a major plot twist and possibly introduced the multiverse concept to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though “WandaVision” has yet to confirm how and why Quicksilver is back.
Unsurprisingly, the series’ head writer Jac Schaeffer is keenly aware of how equally confusing and impactful the character’s reappearance is for longtime franchise fans. Schaeffer discussed “recasting” Quicksilver in an interview with Marvel.com that was published on Monday.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched Episode 3 of “WandaVision,” streaming now on Disney Plus.
Teyonah Parris’s resume on both screen and stage is extensive, but that doesn’t mean the actor wasn’t a little trepidatious about taking on her most iconic role to date, suiting up as Monica Rambeau in Marvel’s “WandaVision” on Disney Plus.
“They are very big shoes to fill and I have truly been enjoying every moment of it,” Parris tells Variety. “It’s been such a collaborative process with the creative team figuring her out.”
In the series’ second and third episodes, audiences begin to learn that Parris’ character may not be what she appears to be. She was first introduced in the series as a woman named Geraldine, but after Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) sends her flying through time and space, the actor’s role in the series seems more mysterious than ever.
