Just when it looked like "Jurassic Park 4" was close to becoming a reality, it gets snatched away again, at least for a little while. After tweets from members of the crew on the evening of May 7 made it seem like the movie might be done, Universal Studios has released a statement explaining a delay.
The statement reads, "In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release 'Jurassic Park 4' at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal's beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history."
The move to delay the movie might seem surprising considering that May 2 Trevorrow, the film's director, tweeted a photo from a scouting trip,...

Ain't It Cool News first flagged up tweets from the crew, some claiming that the project has only been delayed while reacted more pessimistically.
"Hollywood makes and crushes dreams. Goodbye JP4," tweeted digital assets manager Todd Smoyer.
It is unclear how Universal plans to alter the film.

There's trouble on Isla Nublar, but this time it has Nothing to do with rampaging dinosaurs. From the sounds of things production on Jurassic Park 4 has been suspended. Read on for details.
Today Jurassic Park 4 Concept Artist Dean Sherriff tweeted, “Jp on hold.” That was followed by a tweet from JP4's Digital Assets Manager Todd Smoyer, who chimed in with, “Hollywood makes and crushes dreams. Goodbye JP4.” Both tweets have since been deleted, but AICN managed to get a screencap of both before they headed into the ether. Sounds pretty grim.
Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow had been tapped to helm the next installment in the dino-rific series with Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg setting a June 13, 2014, release date for Jurassic Park 4 3D. Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver penned the script.
And now Deadline has chimed in with a statement from the studio: "In coordination with filmmakers, Universal...

The sort of good news is that JP4 movie hasn’t been cancelled, it’s just been given the Sam Lowry treatment. Joking aside, there does seem to be some turmoil behind the scenes and it sounds like the fourth installment in the dino-franchise has been put on hold. Just a couple of days earlier, director Colin Trevorrow posted a location scout image (below), which he tweeted as Nublar, the island from the original film. Two tweets from the film’s Digital Asset Manager Todd Smoyer and Concept Artist Dean Sherriff (via AICN) have since been deleted, but that sounds pretty bleak. However, Jurassic Park IV was targeting...

A release date of June 2014 was always going to be ambitious for such a giant project as Jurassic Park 4, and if recent Tweets captured by Ain’t It Cool News are anything to go by, then the effort required was just too great and the film has been shelved. There’s been no official word as of yet but the film’s Digital Asset Manager Todd Smoyer Tweeted “Hollywood makes and crushes dreams. Goodbye JP4.” While Concept Artist Dean Sherriff Tweeted the more direct “JP4 on hold.”
Everybody is waiting with baited breath for the latest developments but in Hollywood, getting shelved doesn’t mean that the film will never get a release. There’s a lot of interest in a fourth installment, and nature always finds a way. If there is one thing the history of evolution has taught us it’s that life will not be contained. Life breaks free,...

Last night, the Twittersphere had a minor eruption when word began circulating that "Jurassic Park IV" might possibly be canceled. The film’s Digital Asset Manager Todd Smoyer and Concept Artist Dean Sherriff sent out (since deleted) tweets (view them via /Film) indicating that the movie was "on hold" or possibly worse. Well, the good news is that it hasn't been canceled, but there does seem to be some minor turmoil behind-the-scenes. According to the Jurassic Park IV fansite, the movie is still in production but is on a "temporary hiatus" (a contradiction of terms, surely?) so the studio can undergo "restructuring of the guard," as there are apparently some issues involved with the development. Nope, it's not the script and director Colin Trevorrow is still on board, and 80% of the work from the Art Department is done. So what on Earth is the hold up then? Well, Universal supposedly...

Well, this is certainly bad news, but honestly, I'm not surprised. Just a couple of months ago, Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow was announced as the man behind Jurassic Park 4 for producer Steven Spielberg. Just last week the director even posted a location scout picture showing that the sequel would return to Isla Nublar, the island from the original film. However, if some tweets (which have since been deleted) from crew working on the film are to be believed, then it sounds like Jurassic Park 4 has been put on hold indefinitely. But there is a conflicting piece of information that might give fans some hope. First, AICN pointed out the updates on Twitter featuring concept artist Dean Sherriff simply saying, "JP4 on hold." Meanwhile, digital assets manager, Todd Smoyer, said, "Hollywood makes and crushes dreams. Goodbye JP4." That sounds pretty bleak. But a source at JurassicPark4-Movie.com (which...

No sooner are we elated at the news that pre-production on 'Jurassic Park 4' has kicked off do we have to potentially suffer a punch in the stomach at news that the whole project may have been completely halted. Merely days following the post of the first location scout photo from director Colin Trevorrow ('Safety Not Guaranteed') Twitter opens up to hints that JP4 may not be as secure as we first thought. Below you'll see two seperate tweets from both 'Jurassic Park 4' concept artist Dean Sherfiff and Digital Assets Manager Todd Smoyer respectively. Both seemingly hinting at an all our halt of the production. The first tweet was later removed, likely at the request of Universal but the studio are yet to make any announcement to deny or confirm these online statments. Production was eyeing a June 2014 release but as we stated in our last post...

Steven Spielberg has been talking about "Jurassic Park 4" for a while. But just recently, we learned that Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) will direct, that the film will be released on June 13th, 2014, and we even got to see a photo of an area that will become the island from the original movie. But things aren't going as smoothly as expected. In fact, several crew members have revealed that the project is now officially on hold and everyone has been told to go home. Digital asset manager Todd Smoyer wrote on his Twitter page: "Hollywood makes and crushes dreams. Goodbye JP4." Concept artist Dean Sherriff added: "JP4 on hold." Both messages have been deleted, leaving us wondering whether the film is now dead. It's possible that the studio will move forward with the project sometime soon, but it seems that there's no way "Jurassic Park 4" will be released next summer.

Ain't It Cool News spotted the following two tweets from Jurassic Park IV Digital Asset Manager Todd Smoyer and Concept Artist Dean Sherriff coming out and saying the fourth installment in the dino-franchise has been put on hold. Both tweets have since been deleted, though a few of Smoyer's responses to fans remain including one saying, "Oh it's still gonna happen and when it does it's gonna be Epic!" which essentially sounds like someone from the studio got to him, especially considering dream crushing was the focus of his original tweet. Filming was expected to begin soon on the film under the direction of Safety Not Guaranteed helmer Colin Trevorrow who only recently tweeted the picture you see at the top of this post with one word: "Nublar". Jurassic Park 4 was targeting a June 13, 2014 release and I can only imagine news will surface soon as to what exactly is going on with the production,...

Updated: Universal confirms that Jurassic Park 4 has been delayed.
Update: Universal has released the following statement:
"In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history."
Here's our original story.
Here's hoping this one isn't true. A series of since-deleted Tweets last night (caught by AintItCool) have suggested that Jurassic Park 4 may have been put on hold. Ordinarily, we wouldn't report strict rumour like this, but it's the source of the Tweets that suggests that there may be something to this.
