Well, it turns out Laura Loomer is not going to be working on Trump’s campaign.
The New York Times reported on Friday that Trump had asked his staff to hire Loomer — a notorious far-right conspiracy theorist with a rich history of bigotry — to work on his 2024 presidential campaign. The news led to backlash both inside and outside Trump’s team. “Hell fucking no,” a campaign official told Rolling Stone, describing heavy internal resistance to bringing Loomer into the fold.

Greggs, a British bakery chain, has apologized for replacing the Baby Jesus with a sausage roll in a promotional image for its advent calendar.
In the image, the three wise men kneel before Jesus to present him with their traditional gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, but instead of kneeling before a traditional baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, they’re kneeling before a sausage roll with a bite taken out of it.
After the image was published, controversy soon swirled around the non-traditional advertisement.

How would you program this year's newest, most interesting films into double features with movies of the past you saw in 2015?Looking back over the year at what films moved and impressed us, it is clear that watching old films is a crucial part of making new films meaningful. Thus, the annual tradition of our end of year poll, which calls upon our writers to pick both a new and an old film: they were challenged to choose a new film they saw in 2015—in theatres or at a festival—and creatively pair it with an old film they also saw in 2015 to create a unique double feature. All the contributors were given the option to write some text explaining their 2015 fantasy double feature. What's more, each writer was given the option to list more pairings, with or without explanation, as further imaginative film programming we'd be lucky to catch...

Simone Simon in 'La Bête Humaine' 1938: Jean Renoir's film noir (photo: Jean Gabin and Simone Simon in 'La Bête Humaine') (See previous post: "'Cat People' 1942 Actress Simone Simon Remembered.") In the late 1930s, with her Hollywood career stalled while facing competition at 20th Century-Fox from another French import, Annabella (later Tyrone Power's wife), Simone Simon returned to France. Once there, she reestablished herself as an actress to be reckoned with in Jean Renoir's La Bête Humaine. An updated version of Émile Zola's 1890 novel, La Bête Humaine is enveloped in a dark, brooding atmosphere not uncommon in pre-World War II French films. Known for their "poetic realism," examples from that era include Renoir's own The Lower Depths (1936), Julien Duvivier's La Belle Équipe (1936) and Pépé le Moko (1937), and particularly Marcel Carné's Port of Shadows (1938) and Daybreak (1939).[11] This thematic and...

'Cat People' 1942 actress Simone Simon Remembered: Starred in Jacques Tourneur's cult horror movie classic (photo: Simone Simon in 'Cat People') Pert, pouty, pretty Simone Simon is best remembered for her starring roles in Jacques Tourneur's cult horror movie Cat People (1942) and in Jean Renoir's French film noir La Bête Humaine (1938). Long before Brigitte Bardot, Mamie Van Doren, Ann-Margret, and (for a few years) Jane Fonda became known as cinema's Sex Kittens, Simone Simon exuded feline charm in a film career that spanned a quarter of a century. From the early '30s to the mid-'50s, she seduced men young and old on both sides of the Atlantic – at times, with fatal results. During that period, Simon was featured in nearly 40 movies in France, Italy, Germany, Britain, and Hollywood. Besides Jean Renoir, in her native country she worked for the likes of Jacqueline Audry...

Supernatural Episode 914
“Captives”
Written By: Robert Barens
Directed By: Jerry Wanek
Original Airdate: 25 February 2014
In This Episode…
Flickering lights and shadowy apparitions mean only one thing in Sam and Dean’s line of work: the bunker is haunted. The place is warded like crazy, so it would have to be haunted by someone who died inside the bunker. Since Dean and Sam have been there, that has only been one person: Kevin. They pretty much just have to wait until Kevin figures out how to break through the veil and speak to them.
When he finally figures it out, it is like he is answering Dean’s heartfelt apologies and professions of guilt for his death. He appears, flickering, still getting the hang of this “being dead” stuff. Dean is surprised that he isn’t in heaven, but Kevin reminds them: “Heaven is closed for business.” He and a zillion...
