Classic TV shows are still loved and appreciated by the masses today.
We all have specific go-to favorites we have seen many times over but never seem to get sick of watching.
Certain technological advancements didn't exist when classic TV shows were produced, such as the ability to pause, rewind, or record episodes.
Those advancements have since changed how we can view our favorite classic shows.
While binge-watching is not always great for enjoying modern programs, it is another advancement that can offer new insights into classic shows that are fun to explore.
The Attraction of Classic TV
Whether it's a 1950s show like Lassie or a 1980s show like The Facts of Life, there is something inherently special about a classic TV show.
Watching one is like eating comfort food.
Experts say classic shows are so attractive because humans are social creatures. We want to form connections with other people.

The original Bewitched was a lighthearted sitcom about a supernaturally gifted housewife who could alter reality just by wiggling her nose.
But it sounds like we'll soon be presented with a very different version of Samantha Stephens.
A reboot described as "an irreverent hourlong reimagination" of Bewitched is currently in development by Sony and writer-producer Judalina Neira.
Yes, this is your classic "gritty reboot," and if Neira's work on The Boys is any indication, you can expect it to be quite dark.
Perhaps Samantha will use her powers to become a cocaine kingpin, or maybe every time she wiggles her nose, a random person will die. The possibilities are endless!
According to a new report from Deadline, Neira -- who will be executive producing alongside Doug Robinson and Lauren Moffat -- is helming the show as the first project for both her overall deal with Sony and her new production company,...

There are plenty of reasons to love "The Twilight Zone," but a fun one is the way it lets us see so many famous actors before they became household names. Before Carol Burnett had her own variety show, she starred in the 1962 episode "Cavender is Coming." Before Leonard Nimoy got to be in "Star Trek," he was a throwaway soldier in the 1961 episode "A Quality of Mercy." Then there's Elizabeth Montgomery, best known for her role in the 1960s sitcom "Bewitched." Before she played the good witch Samantha Stephens, however, she played a stoic, unnamed woman in the season 3 premiere of "The Twilight Zone."
The 1961 episode is called "Two," and it starts off with Montgomery's character wandering through an abandoned war-torn town. It's been years since the war ended, resulting in total destruction on both sides. When she meets a mysterious man with the opposing army's uniform (Charles Bronson...

It’s Halloween, which means now is the time to once again celebrate pop culture’s witchy women in all their pointy hatted glory. While films like “Hocus Pocus” and “Practical Magic” are packed with wicked ladies, in our opinion, TV witches still reign supreme. Check out TheWrap’s gallery to find the small screen’s 29 most iconic female spell-casters. Of all fantasy sitcoms over the years, have any been more fantastic than Bewitched? Created by Sol Saks, the show starred Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stephens, a witch hiding in suburbia, while Dick York (initially) played her mortal husband, Darrin Stephens, and Agnes Moorehead played her magical mother, Endora. And the alchemy of talent in front of and behind the camera made the series a magical success for ABC: Bewitched ended its first season as the top show on the network and the No. 2 show on television. Bewitched ended after eight seasons on March 25, 1972, and to mark the 50th anniversary of that series finale, we’re rounding up fascinating facts about the show — from casting secrets to modern-day homages. Moorehead got the part of Endora after a chance encounter with Montgomery. Montgomery ran into the Oscar-nominated actress at a Bloomingdale’s department store and asked her if she had ever considered doing television.

Sony Pictures is in early development on a new adaptation of the classic sitcom “Bewitched,” starring Elizabeth Montgomery.
Montgomery starred for eight seasons as Samantha Stephens, a witch married to an ordinary man named Darrin (Dick York and later Dick Sargent) and whose magical powers often cause — yet, sometimes solve — a few wrinkles in her life as a typical suburban housewife.
Created by Sol Saks, under executive producer Harry Ackerman, “Bewitched” ran from 1964 to 1972 on ABC and was a defining example of the genre. Its spinoff, “Tabitha” (focused on Samantha and Darren’s daughter), ran for one season.
The new film comes from producers John Davis and John Fox with a script written by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett. Matalas has an overall deal at CBS and is currently co-running “Star Trek: Picard.” The quartet is also developing the “Witch Mountain” remake for Disney Plus.
Notably, this is not Sony...

Sabrina got what she wanted come the end of the third season of Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” — and so did Sabrina.
Ok, if you’ve watched Season 3 through its eighth and final episode — which if you haven’t why are you reading this? — then you know what we’re talking about: Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) had two copies of herself due to a time loop spell that allowed her to change the events from the previous episode and save her aunties, her coven, Greendale and basically the entire world.

Netflix dropped the trailer for its upcoming Christmas-themed series, “Merry Happy Whatever,” on Monday, starring Dennis Quaid as Don Quinn, the father of a family that likes things done their own way during the holiday. Well, his way.
And his way doesn’t seem to include his daughter Emmy’s (Bridgit Mendler) new boyfriend Matt (Brent Morin) who wants to pop the question this Christmas.
Watch the video above, which also features Ashley Tisdale as Emmy’s sister Kayla, who is also not a big fan of Matt. Poor guy, looks like he’s got a rough road ahead this holiday season.

The CW’s “Nancy Drew” faced the Mystery of the Missing Viewers on Wednesday. The freshman drama managed to bring in just 686,000 viewers when put up against Game 7 of the World Series on Fox.
Meanwhile, “Survivor” shed two-tenths of a Nielsen ratings point in the key adults 18-49 demo on the night of the Washington Nationals’ victory over the Houston Astros.
But it wasn’t just the long-running CBS competition series that took a hit during Wednesday’s primetime, as truly nothing stood a chance against the final game in the battle between the Nationals and Astros for the Commissioner’s Trophy.

HBO Max is bringing us back to the Land of Ooo: Just over a year after “Adventure Time” came to an end on Cartoon Network, WarnerMedia’s forthcoming streaming service has ordered four new, hour-long specials featuring Jake, Finn and the gang.
Collectively dubbed “Adventure Time: Distant Lands,” the quartet of specials “will continue the ‘Adventure Time’ stories that captured imaginations and introduced unlikely heroes Finn and Jake, best buds who traversed the mystical Land of Ooo and encountered its colorful inhabitants,” according to HBO Max.
The first two installments, “Bmo” and “Obsidian,” will debut on the streaming service in 2020, though no specific date has been given, as the service itself doesn’t have a launch date yet (or price). The other two specials, “Wizard City” and “Together Again,” will premiere at a later date.

Tuesday’s episode of “This Is Us” featured yet another adorable chapter from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) storybook love — and was appropriately titled “Storybook Love” — while continuing to explore the darker period the Pearsons faced after Jack’s death and jumping into the trials and tribulations of the Big Three, Randall (Sterling K. The job of juggling those three storylines fell to star Ventimiglia this week, who made his “This Is Us” directorial debut with tonight’s Season 4 episode. Halloween -- it's the holiday for chills, frights, and screams.
It's the most thematically appropriate time of the year to watch shows featuring supernatural beings, copious amounts of blood splatter, and horrifyingly twisted endings.
Even non-genre shows will air "scary" and "supernatural" episodes in honor of Halloween.
Of course, horror isn't everyone's favorite genre. For non-horror fans, Halloween can create a TV viewing dilemma. What can you watch to get yourself into the Halloween spirit without worrying you'll be way too freaked out to sleep at night?
Actually, there are plenty of TV options for those who opt-out of horror. Lots of shows remember Halloween is about candy, costumes, (funny) hijinks, and partying with your friends.
Plus Halloween episodes can be just as heartwarming and romantic as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Valentine's Day episodes.
First things first, we need to discuss the elephant the Snoopy in the room.
