Veteran film and television star James McCaffrey, who was best known to video game fans as the voice of Max Payne in the Max Payne series, has passed away at the age of 65. “One of Dick Wolf’s proteges (“Swift Justice”), McCaffrey went on to a successful 35 year career in television and film,” according to his rep. “Trained at the Actor’s Studio, he never lost his love for creating characters; however, his good looks often pushed him toward leading man roles.”
McCaffrey, who had a number of main roles and recurring roles in a number of television series as well as appearances in film, was known to video game fans as the iconic voice of NYPD cop turned vigilante Max Payne.

The 25-year-old adult performer and TikTok star shared footage of 30-year-old American mixed martial artist Dillon Danis choking her out at her request.

Dillon, wearing a hat that reads “I went on a date with Nina Agdal and all I got was this stupid hat” amid his ongoing feud with Logan Paul, happily did so, getting behind her and putting her in a chokehold.
She appeared to go out cold, shaking as Dillon and two others kept her from crashing to the ground. She came to several seconds later, and gave her immediate review of the experience,, comparing it to being on Mdma.
“Oh my God, that’s so much better than drugs!” she exclaimed.

Francis Ford Coppola, the legendary director of The Godfather trilogy, Apocalypse Now, and The Conversation, has recently revealed his favorite film among his own works. In an interview with The Guardian, Coppola said that he considers Rumble Fish, a 1983 film based on the novel by S.E. Hinton, to be his “best film” .
Rumble Fish is a stylized black-and-white film that stars Matt Dillon, Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane, and Dennis Hopper. It tells the story of Rusty James (Dillon), a young gang leader who idolizes his older brother, the Motorcycle Boy (Rourke), a former gang leader who has returned from California. The film explores the themes of youth, alienation, violence, and brotherhood, as Rusty James tries to live up to his brother’s reputation and cope with his own identity crisis.

Whose idea was it for several of the summer’s most significant blockbusters to play in theaters simultaneously? Competition is fierce as audiences try to beat the muggy summer heat at cinemas, with films like Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Haunted Mansion occupying screens.
Despite the film’s aggressive PR campaign, Disney‘s Haunted Mansion only scared up $3.1M at the box office in Preview Screenings. The family-friendly comedy inspired by Disney’s world-famous theme park attraction began previews on Wednesday with Dolby Access Screenings at 7 p.m. followed by national previews at 3 p.m. yesterday, earning $3.1M. Analysts predict a $30M launch for Disney’s spooky live-action romp, but if Barbie continues to sell tickets like hotcakes, the ghosts of Phantom Manor could be in for a restless eternal slumber.

The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland may be my favorite attraction at the park. And yes, I’d appreciate a fun movie that brings the ride’s charm to the big screen (read our review). No, that was not the 2003 version. However, the latest feature bringing the “hitchhiking ghosts” to theatres was a good time, with a bit of heart. Justin Simien’s take on Haunted Mansion is an entertaining feature. It’s cute, it’s funny, and some of the ghostly visions are even a little spooky.
A few weeks back, we spoke with Justin about the new film. It’s been a long while since I’d talked to Mr. Simien, and it was terrific to see him again. The filmmaker talked about taking on the film and the many levels of the world-famous attraction that ended up in the movie. We also delved into the performances of Lakeith Stanfield...

Disney’s Haunted Mansion seeks to course correct from its looser adaptation of the famous theme park dark ride in 2003 with a new, much more faithful feature-length adaptation. That’s a tall order considering the original attraction opened in 1969, amassing decades’ worth of lore and history within its hallowed, spooky walls. Yet director Justin Simien and writer Katie Dippold carefully thread 999 happy haunts into a cohesive but densely packed storyline that brings every bit of the grim grinning ghost funhouse antics, mythology, and details you’d expect. But it’s Simien and Dippold’s poignant approach to grief and death that solidifies their Haunted Mansion as worthwhile gateway horror for a new generation.
Once a promising young scientist, Ben (Lakeith Stanfield) now drinks his life away when not leading ghost tours in New Orleans. Ben’s deep in the throes of grief, trapped at a crossroads after his beloved wife’s passing.

In 2003, audiences watched Eddie Murphy drop into “Haunted Mansion” in Rob Minkoff’s poorly received riff on Disney’s famous ride. Now 20 years later, Justin Simien, director of “Dear White People” and a former Disneyland ride operator, is trying his hand at putting the “grim, grinning ghosts” of the popular theme park attraction on the big screen — and the results are impressive.
Simien’s “Haunted Mansion” is a wondrous blend of horror and comedy, tinged with emotional resonance in its story of grief and how we try to connect with those we’ve lost. Anchored by a phenomenal performance by Lakeith Stanfield (“Atlanta”) and a solid ensemble, “Haunted Mansion” is a worthy take on the ride and a sleeper hit for families looking to find a fun summer film.

If the television universe had a better sense of poetry, Netflix’s three-part Bill Russell documentary and Showtime’s three-part Wilt Chamberlain documentary would have come out the same day. The Chamberlain doc would have gotten better ratings, but the Russell doc would have received better reviews, and then we would have discussed the relative merits of each type of success and come to the conclusion that judging either of them exclusively on that one measurement was reductive.
Instead, Sam Pollard’s Bill Russell: Legend premiered back in February, while Rob Ford and Christopher Dillon’s Goliath, about Chamberlain, will air through the rest of July on Showtime and associated platforms.
While the two documentaries about contenders for basketball greatest-of-all-time status are both solidly made examinations of their complicated subjects, neither is even the recent Goat when it comes to multi-parters about outspoken NBA centers. Steve James’ Bill Walton series for ESPN holds that crown.

BAFTA-winning “Sex Education” star Aimee Lou Wood and Oscar-nominee Matt Dillon (“Crash”) have been tapped to star as Anna and Fyodor Dostoyevsky in “The Gambler Wife,” a dark comedy about one of world literature’s most towering figures, by two-time Berlinale prize winner Małgorzata Szumowska.
“The Gambler Wife” follows the Russian novelist and his much younger, pregnant wife, Anna, as they travel to Switzerland for their honeymoon. Anna tolerates her husband’s gambling addiction, which will serve as inspiration for his burgeoning literary career. However, Fyodor’s compulsive roulette playing continues to cause problems for the couple until they are forced to return to a Russia that is not quite as they remember.
“This dark comedy explores the patriarchal, nationalistic Russian identity which keeps on waging war between the West and the East, which is as relevant today as it was two hundred years ago,” said Szumowska.

Finally, after a season of hemming and hawing, relationship-wise, things were looking a little clearer.
Almost everyone stepped up in the season finale, All American Season 5 Episode 20, changing how things will look in the upcoming abbreviated All American Season 6.
None of these changes were particularly unexpected, but they set up situations nicely for next season.
Let's start for the worst of the will-they-or-won't-they storylines: Spencer and Olivia.
You know Spencer and Liv belong together when Dillon and his sassy girlfriend made fun of Spencer's assertions that he and Olivia were excellent friends. Grace tried to be supportive, suppressing an appropriate eye roll.
Liv was flying out that night for London, and Spencer was determined to keep things casual, even though his heart told him something different.
Likewise, Olivia was willing to play things however Spencer wanted, even though she longed to get back together.
Spencer did plan a special final day for Liv,...
