Bob Weinstein is back, without his brother. The former Weinstein Co. co-chairman has formed a new production company that will focus on family films, comedies, and upscale adult thrillers. Unlike TWC, this company won’t be a distributor; instead, it will focus on producing up to three movies annually.
This puts Bob Weinstein in an unusual late-career position: Not only is he in business for the first time without Harvey Weinstein, he’s also in the role of seller. While he holds the title of executive producer on hundreds of films and TV shows, he earned all of them while being a distributor who acquired scripts for production as well as finished films as the co-head of Miramax Films and The Weinstein Company, and chairman of Dimension Films.

The movie, which chronicles the making of Young and Crazy Horse’s studio album “Colorado,” will open in North America on Oct. 22 and in Europe and South American on Nov. 8. Young produced using his pseudonym Bernard Shakey, marking his 13th collaboration with Abramorama dating back to “Greendale,” and Jonathan Demme’s trilogy.

Former Weinstein Company co-chairman Bob Weinstein has launched a new production and development company called Watch This Entertainment, an individual with knowledge of the company told TheWrap.
Weinstein’s goal with his new shingle is to produce two to three films a year, focusing on family films, comedies and adult thrillers. His first project will be the animated film “Endangered,” which he will produce with Tea Leoni. Leoni will also voice one of the characters, while French animation collective known as Illogic, comprised of Florian Babikian, Vincent Bayoux, Victor Caire, Théophile Dufresne, Gabriel Grapperon and Lucas Navarro, will direct and write the script. “Endangered” is inspired by a book written by Tim Flach.
However, Weinstein will not be distributing the films. Pantea Ghaderi, who formerly was the executive vice president of publicity at Dimension Films, will not hold the title of president of creative development at Watch This Entertainment.
