The following Q&A contains major spoilers for The Blacklist‘s Season 5 premiere. Proceed with caution.
The Blacklist giveth, and The Blacklist taketh away.
In the span of just a few months, Tom Keen has gone from leading his own spinoff series to possibly taking a dirt nap courtesy of Raymond Reddington. (And that’s to say nothing of his significant mommy issues.)
Though Tom didn’t have much screen time in Wednesday’s Season 5 premiere, he did make a crucial appearance at the end of the episode, and it dealt a potentially devastating blow to fans of Liz Keen’s baby daddy.

Until Tony Shalhoub arrives on stage to usher in a very different second act, theatergoers at the Roundabout’s American Airlines Theatre might get the impression that they’re watching a big, broad comedy. So what if the play is Arthur Miller’s “The Price,” which opened Thursday? Until Shalhoub’s entrance at the very end of act one, Danny DeVito has single-handedly turns “The Price” into a Jewish laugh riot with his expert turn as Mr. Solomon, a comfy, psychologically astute furniture dealer right out of the Neil Simon playbook. Mr. Solomon gets the best price (for himself) by...

The Blacklist, as a generally exciting show, didn’t really get me excited about this episode. I expected a little bit more from a penultimate episode, especially from what’s been a fantastic season so far. I was generally intrigued by Susan Hargrave (played masterfully by Famke Janssen) and the fact that Tom teamed with her and Mr. Solomon, And the task force to bring this particular villain out of hiding. It seemed like it should’ve been exciting, but the more I thought about it, the more it felt like setup for a spin-off. I love Ryan Eggold, but that wasn’t enough to

And just like that, Red and Liz can only claim bragging rights to the second-most dysfunctional relationship on The Blacklist.
In Thursday’s episode of the NBC drama, which served as a backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff starring Famke Janssen and Ryan Eggold, we were given a rare piece of the complicated puzzle that is Tom Keen’s childhood — and boy, was it a doozy.

Another day, another dead lady on TV...or is it? The Blacklist certainly just made it seem like Liz (Megan Boone) died after giving birth to her daughter, but after the past couple of weeks of everybody dying and the history of this show, we're not fully in mourning just yet. In the middle of getting remarried, Liz and Tom (Ryan Eggold) were interrupted by Mr. Solomon, and then ended up in a car accident that sent the very pregnant Lizzie to the hospital. Her baby, Agnes, was delivered successfuly via c-section, but then something ruptured and she had to be put in an ambulance. That ambulance was then also attacked by Mr. Solomon, and Lizzie died before they made it anywhere, seemingly leaving Tom...

At first, I wasn’t sure what to think of this episode. The Blacklist, even in episodes heavily involved with the serialized story, usually stick to the status quo enough. But in the last two weeks, the “Mr. Solomon” saga has taken the show completely off the rails. But upon some reflection after watching tonight’s episode, I decided that balls-to-the-wall combined with devastating was exactly what The Blacklist needed. This week on The Blacklist: Mr. Solomon’s pursuit of Liz extends beyond the church. Liz is injured in the escape, and that causes the need for their baby to be born immediately. The baby is born , but

The following story contains major spoilers about Thursday’s The Blacklist — proceed at your own peril.
Suddenly, NBC’s Tom-centric Blacklist spinoff is making a lot more sense.
In Thursday’s episode, Ryan Eggold’s Tom was horrified to learn that Liz (aka his almost-bride, played by Megan Boone) died following the birth of their daughter. The tragedy leaves Tom a widower and a single father. It also intensifies the rivalry between him and Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Solomon, the baddie indirectly responsible for Liz’s death and — not so coincidentally — the primary antagonist in the aforementioned spinoff.

I’m not sure there is a better way to describe this episode than #RedWedding. This wedding happened in true The Blacklist fashion, with an imminent threat to everyone’s lives. At first, i wondered why the heck anyone would need Mr. Solomon to be out of jail, but then it all came together so well. This was a masterful, intense episode with plenty of substance for every different thing that people love about the show. The Blacklist is such a great show that NBC has decided to develop a female led spinoff series starring Famke Janssen (X-Men). The news comes from Variety, who says that the network hasn't made an official commitment, but if it does get the greenlight, it would revolve around Janssen’s central character who is named Susan “Scottie” Halsted.
The character is set to be introduced and make her debut on The Blacklist in the May 5th episode. She will also appear in the following episode on May 12th, which is a week before the season three finale. According to the report, that finale will serve a the backdoor pilot for the spinoff series.
I imagine the network is waiting to see how Janssen's character is received by viewers before they give the spinoff an official greenlight. They obviously think her character is interesting and strong enough to carry her own show!

Villains are often the most enticing characters on screen. They draw in their audience; inviting us to hang on to every word they say. Though Edi Gathegi has had many roles in films and on television, some of the most terrifying characters on his resume are some of his most brilliant. You may remember him as Cheese in “Gone Baby Gone,” or more recently you may have been watching his antics as Mr. Solomon on NBC’s “The Blacklist” over the past several weeks. Either way, you’ve probably realized that Edi Gathegi is master storyteller. Gathegi recently sat down with Shadow and Act to talk about his new film “Criminal Activities”, his role on “The Blacklist” and what it’s like to play the bad...

If you were watching The Blacklist for the first time during Thursday’s Season 3 premiere, you might have expected the episode’s opening moments to have a very different outcome.
You might have expected that Agents Ressler, Navabi and Mojtabai would be successful in their capture of Red and Liz, or that their wide perimeter of cop cars and police officers would prevent the fugitives from ever getting out of Washington, D.C.
But if you’ve been with the NBC series since Episode 1, you know that Red and Liz’s immediate capture was never even a possibility.
