Kingston, March 1 (Ians) Jamaica's two-time Olympic gold medallist sprinter Yohan Blake said that he would rather not participate in the Tokyo Olympics than take a vaccine for Covid-19. The International Olympic Committee (Ioc) has "encouraged" all athletes travelling for the Games to take a vaccine but it is not compulsory.
"My mind still stays strong, I don't want any vaccine, I'd rather miss the Olympics than take the vaccine, I am not taking it," Blake, 31, was quoted as saying in Jamaican newspaper The Gleaner.
"I don't really want to get into it now, but I have my reasons," he said.
The Tokyo Olympics is expected to be Blake's final Games. A series of eight athletics meets were organised in Jamaica on Saturday, marking the return of sports events in the Caribbean island nation after they were paused due to the pandemic. Blake himself was speaking after participating in one of the meets.

In a video message uploaded on his social media handles, Blake lauded Kohli for not finding any excuses for the defeat and accepting his team's mistakes.
"What I really love about Team India is that Virat Kohli doesn't find any excuses. That's what I really love about his captaincy, he took the blame for everything. He said the bowlers didn't find the right areas and that the batsmen were not as consistent. He said 'we got to go back to the drawing board and come back'. And that's what I love about Virat Kohli and his captaincy," the Jamaican sprinter said.

Gabe and Benjamin Turner keep pace with the Jamaican sprinter from the track to the nightclub for an illuminating look at athletic genius

What makes Usain Bolt run? Benjamin and Gabe Turner’s understandably awed survey of how the Jamaican sprinter got from there to here in record time benefits from tailing its subject over a period – between Beijing 2015 and Rio 2016 – when his supremacy faced unprecedented threats: nightclubbing injuries, a hunger diminishing in inverse proportion to his distractibility, and rivals new (Yohan Blake) and old (Justin Gatlin). If Bolt’s talent continues to defy all explanation, the Turner brothers bring us close enough to it to witness bugs swarming over nerveless knuckles on the start line.
