Francis Richard(II)
- Director
- Writer
- Producer
Francis Richard was born in 1983 in Quebec, Canada and raised in
Saint-Jérôme. Since his early childhood days, he dreamed of making
movies. Despite his artistic aspirations, he began his higher studies
at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme and continued at the University of Quebec in
Montreal, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Business with a
concentration in Marketing. Self-taught in movie-making and highly
motivated, he proceeded to direct his first short film, ''Désemparé'',
in 2006, where he also took the lead role. Despite the improvised
production, ''Désemparé'' was selected for Rimouski's Caroussel Film
Festival.
Four years would separate this production from the next. In 2010, Francis wrote and directed ''La Loi du retour'' a co-production in association with David Rosa. This short film earned them the honor of being invited to the Short Film Corner of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Following this success, they produced and directed the short film Northern Abductions, which remains to this day the pinnacle of his art. This memorable independent professional production led them to a second and consecutive appearance at the Short Film Corner at Cannes.
