Gianinni is an Afro-European writer-director from The Netherlands, based in Los Angeles. His directorial talent emerged with his sci-fi action short film The Border, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Collaboration Filmmakers Challenge in 2021, leading to two development deals with Shout! Studios.
Prior to becoming a filmmaker, Gianinni was a professional dancer and choreographer who worked with artists like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Paula Abdul, and toured globally with Cirque Du Soleil. During his tenure with Cirque Du Soleil, Gianinni was selected to direct segments of the feature documentary about Michael Jackson's The Immortal World Tour. He continued to merge his dance and cinematic skills by directing several short-form projects for Lady Gaga's 2014 Artpop World Tour. His directorial talents further shone through in 2018 with the concert film Straight Up for Paula Abdul's first headlining tour in 27 years.
Gianinni's work has been recognized at several film festivals, including the Burbank International Film Festival and the Micheaux Film Festival. He has seamlessly transitioned from dancer to filmmaker and hopes to bring a fresh perspective to his projects with his multicultural narratives and exploration of the intersection of performance art and cinematic storytelling.
