Exclusive: Lissette Feliciano (Women Is Losers) is attached to write and direct On Your Feet, a feature adaptation of the same-name Broadway musical that’s in early development at Sony Pictures, Deadline has learned.
A jukebox musical that tells the inspiring true story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan, two Cuban immigrants who launched themselves to international musical stardom from humble beginnings, On Your Feet will be produced by Gloria and Emilio Estefan, as well as John and Jordan Davis of Davis Entertainment, with John Fox exec producing.
Premiering in November 2015 at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway, where it ran for more than 750 performances, the show specifically hones in on Gloria’s Estefan’s trajectory from her early days in Miami to her breakthrough as the lead singer of the Miami Sound Machine — a crossover artist, blending Latin and pop music — and ultimately, her triumphant return to the stage after a near-fatal accident.

If our odds are correct, expect a big night for Morgan Wallen. The singer hasn’t won at the CMAs since his New Artist of the Year victory in 2020. He made himself an industry pariah in 2021 after he was caught using a racial slur. His music continued to top the charts, but he was banned from awards shows … for a little while at least.

Here’s when and where you can stream more than 20 new holiday movies and specials this year, including at least three new versions of “A Christmas Carol:” the Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell musical “Spirited;” Netflix’s animated “Scrooge” with the voices of Luke Evans and Olivia Colman; and “A New Diva’s Christmas Carol,” where the mean old miser is now a faded music star who’s now a mean old judge on a reality TV show.
And — “Mean Girls” alert — Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert and Jonathan Bennett each have a holiday movie out this year. And don’t forget “Hannukah on Rye,” about two deli owners who get matched up for the holidays, featuring singer Lisa Loeb.
If you don’t have the Hallmark channel, which is Christmas movie central, their new movies will be available on-demand on Peacock for 72 hours after their network premiere and on subsequent re-airings.

Luke Combs has plotted out a busy touring schedule in 2022, making up for the lost time with various festival appearances at Stagecoach and New Orleans Jazzfest before he embarks on a summer stadium tour.
When that trek is over, the “Tomorrow Me” singer will regroup and head out on the Middle of Somewhere Tour in September, playing a series of back-to-back arena shows that’ll take him nearly to the end of the year.
The tour gets underway Sept. 2 in Bangor, Maine, and features Combs playing two consecutive nights in nearly every city he visits.

The 2022 CMT Music Awards were handed out on Monday night, April 11, at 8:00pm Eastern on CBS. These awards honor the best in country music videos, but unlike the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Awards, which are voted on by industry peers, these awards are decided by fans. So who were the big winners? Scroll down for the complete list.
Kane Brown co-hosted the event with Kelsea Ballerini and Anthony Mackie, and he also led with four nominations including Video of the Year for “One Mississippi.” That category started with 12 nominees when they were initially announced. Fan votes then narrowed that down to the top six, and the day of the show we learned the final three: Brown’s “One Mississippi,” Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood‘s “If I Didn’t Love You,” and Cody Johnson‘s “Til You Can’t.”
Johnson and breakthrough artist Breland followed with three nominations apiece.

A positive Covid test for country star Kelsea Ballerini has led to a change in plans for tonight’s CMT Music Awards, being broadcast on CBS. The singer will remain as co-host, but participate remotely. Actor Anthony Mackie remains on the hosting duties he was to perform alongside her, but now will be joined at the live ceremony by fill-in host Kane Brown.
In a statement, a CMT rep said said of Ballerini, “Fortunately, she is asymptomatic and remains excited to co-host the show (remotely). The Academy posted videos of both artists getting the news from country superstar Miranda Lambert. Wilson still has a shot at winning something next week, as well: She’s up for song of the year for her No. 1 country hit “Things a Man Oughta Know.” McCollum has also earned a No. 1 song of his own, “Pretty Heart,” although the 2020 hit preceded the eligibility period for this year’s awards.

This year’s Academy of Country Music Awards nominations were a bit polarizing with the glaring exclusions of some artists leading the new wave in country music right now like Kacey Musgraves and Mickey Guyton, and the inclusion of the all-too-controversial Morgan Wallen. With the show coming soon on March 7, let’s take a look at the album and song categories to see who’s likely to win.
Album of the Year
A couple possible scenarios could happen here. The nominee that would make the most sense winning would probably be Morgan Wallen, as “Dangerous: the Double Album” is the most successful album here by a huge margin and was in fact the biggest album of 2021 from any genre. However, I’m still not sure about how much the ACMs will want to give Wallen such a big honor, especially considering he was banned from competing and attending last year’s edition.

A second round of performers has been announced for the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, with Eric Church, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Brothers Osborne, Kane Brown, Jordan Davis, Brittney Spencer, Mitchell Tenpenny, Jason Aldean and leading ACMs nominee Chris Young joining the lineup.
More specific plans for some of the previously announced performers have also been revealed. Dolly Parton, who’ll be hosting the commercial-free Prime Video webcast from Allegiant Stadium, will be joined for a performance of her new album’s “Big Dreams and Faded Dreams” by Kelsea Ballerini.
The two-hour show will kick off with a collaborative two-song set by Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett, who are up for male and female artist of the year.
