Jeff Cronise
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
- Producer
Jeff Cronise was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. The first
college he attended was Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond,
Virginia. While enrolled at the college, Jeff fell in love with
photography. He was denied admissions into the photography and film
program, but that did not stop him from practicing the art.
Frustrated with the system, he took off on a cross-country adventure; first stop was New York City. There, Jeff attended a screen-writing workshop, led by Robert McKee. From New York City, he went on a three month adventure: Chicago, Northern California, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Diego, and Wilmington, North Carolina; and while on his trip, he practiced his photography and wrote a feature length script.
Upon arriving back home to Roanoke, Virginia, Jeff decided to go back to school and he received a degree in Social Science from Virginia Western Community College. He wanted more though, he wanted to pursue his passion of becoming a filmmaker.
In August of 2008, Jeff left the east coast, and moved to the Humboldt Bay area in northern California, to study film at Humboldt State University. His degree was finished in three years. While in school at Humboldt State, Jeff worked on many short student films as director, producer, cinematographer, writer, and actor. He also was an intern for the Humboldt Film Commission, a Production Coordinator for a professionally produced commercial about Humboldt State University that aired on CBS, co-director of the 44th annual Humboldt Film Festival, and helped his film-making friend, Acey Aseltine, produce his short documentary about a bike trip from Arcata, CA to central Mexico called "While Riding My Bike".
Just as he was planning on moving back home to Virginia, Jeff had an opportunity to work on a feature film in Gasquet, California called "Love in the Time of Monsters". He began working as an assistant for the sound crew, was moved to general production assistant, and just three days later, was promoted to second second assistant director.
Jeff will be moving down to the LA area mid July to continue pursuing his dream of working in the film industry.
