CAA has come on board to advise on the worldwide sales of “Pleasant Outcast,” the post-apocalyptic Korean thriller series from Lotte Cultureworks (“Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days”) and Climax Studio. “Pleasant Outcast” is set to premiere at Canneseries, which kicks off April 5.
The 10-part series is a companion piece to the Korean box office smash hit film “Concrete Utopia,” which was selected as South Korea’s Oscar contender and sold to 185 countries.
“Pleasant Outcast” is co-directed by Min Yong-keun (“Soulmate”) and Yang Soo-hee. It’s based on the same best-selling webtoon, “Cheerful Outcast.” While “Concrete Utopia” was based on the second part of “Cheerful Outcast,” “Pleasant Outcast” is based on the first part of the flagship title.

A Hong Kong superstar, Louis Koo has appeared in everything from thrillers and sci-fi blockbusters to romances and comedies. This year he received the Extraordinary Star Asia Award at the New York Asian Film Festival.
The festival showcased three of his recent projects: In Broad Daylight, a drama about abuse in an assisted living facility; The White Storm 3, part of a trilogy of action films about drug cartels; and Vital Sign, a drama about emergency service workers. Koo’s One Cool World produced the first film; he stars in the other two.
As the veteran in a three-man ambulance crew, Koo plays a moodier character in Vital Sign than his fans usually see. A father and widower, Ma Chi-yip is nearing the end of his career, struggling with bureaucracy and his own physical ailments.
“I saw a different side of him, maybe because of the story,” director Cheuk Wan-chi said about Koo’s performance.

New Delhi, July 25 (Ians) Homegrown quick-grocery delivery provider Dunzo has received a legal notice from at least seven companies since March this year, according to media reports.
According to Moneycontrol, citing sources, Dunzo had received legal notices from Google India, Nilenso, Clover Ventures, Facebook India Online Services Private Limited, Cupshup, Koo and Glance.
Overall, Dunzo’s outstanding vendor debts total approximately Rs 11.4 crore, nearly double the Rs 5-6 crore previously estimated.
Clover Ventures, an agritech startup, recently demanded that Dunzo clear dues that have now totalled over Rs 2 crore, according to the legal notice that Clover Ventures sent to Dunzo, while Cupshup, an advertising company, also sent a legal notice to Dunzo demanding to pay Rs 1 crore that it owes Cupshup for the services provided.

New Delhi, April 20 (Ians) Homegrown Twitter rival Koo on Thursday said that it has let go 30 per cent of its workforce over the course of the year amid the current global meltdown.
The company told Ians in a statement that it is important for businesses of all sizes to adopt efficient and conservative approaches to see this period through.
“In line with this, we have acted on some role redundancies by letting go of 30 per cent of our workforce over the course of the year and have supported them through compensation packages, extended health benefits and outplacement services,” a Koo spokesperson said in a statement.
The company said it is well capitalized with its recent fund raise of $10 million in January.
“We aren’t looking at raising funds right now. We are making great progress with revenue and will look to raise funds in the future as necessary,” the spokesperson added.
