- Dennis East was born in Durban, South Africa. He was a composer, known for Holiday in the Wild (2019), Wild Maneuvres (1985) and Maneuvers (1984). He died on September 12, 2022 in South Africa.
- In 1978 he formed the group Stringray and once again made the charts with "Better the devil you know".
- Was a member of the 1960s & 1970s South African bands The Statesmen, Dialogue, The Rising Sons and Hunky Dory before going solo.
- His first single "Could you ever love me again" was released in 1973. His first chart success was in 1974 with "A rose has to die".
