Mike and Heather Martin, the Maryland parents behind the DaddyOFive YouTube channel -- who conducted cruel pranks on their kids that many felt verged on child abuse -- have received five years of probation.
The Martins -- each of whom faced two charges of child neglect in a Maryland Circuit Court -- entered Alford pleas today, reports The Frederick News-Post. In an Alford plea, defendants don’t necessarily admit guilt, but concede that prosecutors have enough evidence to obtain a conviction.
As part of their sentences, Judge Theresa Adams also ordered that the Martins cease contact with the two children involved in the child neglect charges -- 12-year-old Emma and nine-year-old Cody. (The Martins lost custody of both children in May after legal action by their biological mother, Rose Hall; however, Mike and Heather still have three other children in their care). In addition to ceasing contact, the Martins are...

Mike and Heather Martin, the vlogger parents behind the infamous DaddyOFive YouTube channel, who courted controversy earlier this year for prank videos that many felt verged on child abuse -- and who lost custody of two of their five children in the wake of an ensuing media storm -- are now facing criminal charges of child neglect.
YouTube news host Philip DeFranco, who helped bring the issue to light on his channel -- and whom the Martins initially blamed for their spate of bad press and legal scrutiny -- has shared court documents in a new update video, which state that the Martins have been charged with two counts of neglecting a minor. “I’ve seen some people saying they were convicted of this,” DeFranco explains. “That is not the case.” Their next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 1.

The duo behind DaddyOFive -- a family vlog channel where Maryland parents Mike and Heather Martin conducted cruel pranks on their kids -- have lost custody of two of their children.
The stunning development (first announced on YouTube, naturally), comes care of Rose Hall, the biological mother of Emma, 12, and Cody, 9 -- both of whom were frequent prank victims on DaddyOFive. Hall and her lawyer, Tim Conlon, explain in the clip (below) that she received emergency custody of Emma and Cody on Friday, and that they are in a “deprogramming mode” to shake off various abuses suffered. The Martins -- whose DaddyOFive channel counts 760,000 subscribers but has since been wiped -- have three other children, who remain in their custody.

DaddyOFive is allegedly turning over a new leaf.
The YouTube family vlog and prank channel, helmed by Mike and Heather Martin of Damascus, Md., which earned the ire of the internet for prank videos conducted upon their young children that many believe verged on abuse, released another apology video over the weekend. While the Martins previously apologized for the cruel videos and claimed that their pranks were faked, the latest clip sees them dressed in formal attire and appearing, at times, to read from a script.
“This has been the absolute worst week of our lives, and we realize that we have made some terrible parenting decisions," Ms. Martin says of a vlog in which she and her husband screamed and cursed at young son Cody, and another clip in which Mr. Martin encouraged two of their young children to hit one another. (Their channel has since been wiped).

DaddyOFive, a family vlog channel featuring stunning scenes that many viewers consider child abuse, has privated all of the videos on its channel, which now counts roughly 800,000 subscribers. At the same time, creators and parents Mike and Heather Martin -- who can be seen screaming at, pushing, and punching their children in several clips -- are now alleging that all of the prank videos on their channel were faked.
“The videos are fake,” Mr. Martin says in the only remaining clip on DaddyOFive (the rest, however, have reportedly been archived) titled Family Destroyed Over False Aquisations [sic]. “They’re over exaggerated, some videos are scripted, some videos are just played out. They're the kids’ ideas -- we act them out.” Mr. Martin adds that while such a confession could ruin his channel, “I’d rather lose my YouTube channel and all my revenue than lose my children.”

A family vlog and prank channel called DaddyOFive has earned the ire of prominent members of the YouTube community after husband and wife creator duo Mike and Heather Martin of Damascus, Md., posted a video in which they “pranked” their young son in a vicious, expletive-laden tirade.
In the video, titled Invisible Ink Prank! (Epic Freakout), the Martins squirt invisible ink all over son Cody’s bedroom, and then blame him for ruining his carpet. “Get your fucking ass up here!” Ms. Martin growls as her husband fires up the camera. “What the fuck did you do? What the fuck?” Cody promptly dissolves in tears in a meager attempt to defend himself while his parents continue to rant. Embedding for the video has been disabled, but you can check it out right here.
