Ruben Fernandez ADFC is a cinematographer based in Colombia. He applies intense planning, team building and integration, as well as a thorough knowledge of fine arts, to create sophisticated, exquisite imagery for the projects he is involved in.
In 2016, Ruben shot his first feature film "¿Como te Llamas?" directed by spanish director Ruth Caudeli. This led to a number of fiction tv mini series projects including "La Niña Emilia; Dejala Morir", "Anibal Sensación Velazquez", "Don't Give Up: The Raizal Paradise", "Hipster&Co", "El Inquisidor" y "1989", as well the children-friendly "La Casa de los Hábitos" for Discovery Kids.
In 2018, Ruben won the India Catalina Awards for Best Cinematography for a TV series for his work in the drama series "Dejala Morir, La Niña Emilia". These are the most prestigious awards in Colombia for tv production.
Ruben has an extensive experience lensing documentary projects, including the documentary feature film "Con Ojos de Ciclista", as well as tv series for National Geographic, Vice Media, Señal Colombia Canal 13 and Canal Capital, as well as providing 2nd Unit work for Oscar Nominee Sam Green and writer Rebecca Solnit, and "Sacrifice Zone" a documentary feature for National Geographic.
On demand as a commercial cinematographer, he specializes in brand films, short form promos, music videos, as well as new media and other marketing related material. He has shot over 500 tv commercials for ad agencies such as Grey Global, Ogilvy & Mather, McCann Erickson, and J Walther Thompson, among others, and music acts like Fonseca, Andres Cepeda, Vicente Garcia, Mike Bahia, Sharlene, Systema Solar, Burning Caravan, V for Volume, Sismo, Orphan Jane, and Sol Okarina.
Ruben has production experience across Europe, South and North America, having shot in France, Serbia, Spain, the United States, Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Martinique, Haiti, and of course much of Colombia.
