While we eat “doubles” we talk one on one with selected filmmakers…
Great to be back for my fourth year at the Trinidad + Tobago Film Festival.

My first night, I went with my new favorite delegation, whom I already wrote about in my Tiff It’s a Wrap blog, the group of Jamaican filmmakers to see their five shorts showing here at ttff as part of the Jafta Propella initiative to put money into the production and distribution of shorts (rather than in yet-another film festival). The range of stories and storytelling styles was a tasting menu of hors d’oevres for the festival.

A 20-strong group of Jamaican film professionals is in town, while the festival’s industry centre is also hosting a Jamaica stand.
Renee Robinson, former industry programmer at Toronto International Film Festival, is back at the festival in her new role as film commissioner of Jamaica.
Jampro, Jamaica’s national investment and export agency, is spearheading a 20-strong delegation of Jamaican film professionals coming to Toronto. There is also a Jamaica stand at the industry centre in the Hyatt Regency for the first time.
Robinson said the size of this first Toronto delegation is notable. “It’s an indication that Jamaica is ready to be a global film player,” she told Screen. The delegation includes the filmmakers selected for the Propella! short film development initiative, plus other experts including Kamal Bankay of Creative Marketing Associates, Paul Bucknor of Firefly Films, Carleene Samuels of Creative Source Productions, Damien Baddy of Lookyah and Delano Forbes of Phase 3.

Dimension Films announced today that they have an all new terror tale heading our way, providing they get around to actually making it of course. Read on for the first details of their latest acquisition, Ink and Bone.
From the Press Release
Dimension Films is dipping their pen in Ink And Bone, a spec written by writer Zak Olkewicz. The spec, which was preemptively purchased, has been described as a horror thriller in the vein of Dimension’s hit film 1408.
In the film, when an editor is dispatched to help a reclusive horror writer finish his latest book, she discovers he’s being held prisoner in his house by everything he’s ever written.
“I immediately read and loved the concept of Zak’s script,” said Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company. “It reminds me of Stephen King’s work and I feel that Ink And Bone could be...

The big team news for Wigan is the return of cult hero Paul Scharner, the Austrian spent almost five years in the North West before leaving in 2010 but rejoined The Latics this week on loan from Hamburg. He has been brought in as cover for the defence as Wigan are currently without Ivan Ramis and Antolin Alcaraz. Wigan have a colossal injury list that also includes; Adrian Lopez, Mike Pollitt, Ben Watson, Albert Crusat, Ryo Myachi and Fraser Fyvie.
Also unavailable is Arouna Kone who is away at the African Cup of Nations but more positively Emerson Boyce faces a late fitness test and may be available.
Southampton could also hand a recently arrived player a debut. Vegard Forren was signed from Molde in the transfer window and may debut in a leaky Saints’ backline.
