Peter Hsieh presented at this year’s CAAMFest his first feature film. “Drive All Night” is exactly what its title suggests. After writing several scripts and a long list of plays for the theatre, Hsieh created a thrilling and enigmatic story for the big screen.
The protagonists of “Drive All Night” are Dave and Cara. Dave is a taxi driver in a not specified American city. He works at night and seems to lead a simple, rather lonely life. His acquaintances are two other taxi drivers and the waitress at a diner. That Dave has a crash on her is evident. But something holds him back. Dave is on duty when he gets a call from a woman. She wants him to pick her up at her hotel. Cara is from the start a very brisk and straight-forward character. Therefore, she is actually exactly the opposite to Dave. Together they...

His drama stars Yutaka Takeuchi (Marvel’s The Defenders), Lexy Hammonds (Crazy Love) and Sarah Dumont (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and we have been given an exclusive clip to share with you today. You will find it and a selection of stills down below. In the clip Dave watches Cara play an old arcade game. It's not much to go by but gives an inkling of each character's personality. It also gives a bit of a sense of style and direction from Hsieh who comes from a stageplay background. Whether he fully transitions into film is...

Drive All Night is a surreal thriller from director Peter Hsieh. Set to show at Cinequest later this month, the film's official trailer shows a taxi cab driver and his mysterious encounter with a young waitress. Together, they take a drive through the city, leading to strange adventures. Hsieh also wrote the script. And, the film stars: Lexy Hammonds (The Mystery of Casa Matusita), Yutaka Takeuchi ("The Defenders"), Johnny Gilligan. Now, a new poster and official trailer are available here. The new poster, much like the trailer, utilizes strange lighting. Highlighting the dreamscape nature of the film, the odd lighting also creates a visual delight. All of the central characters are shown in the graphic, with the city skyline shown in the background. This movie poster reveals only a slice of the film's potential story. The trailer also only reveals just a taste of the plotline. Characters are shown talking in a diner,...

"I need you to do something for me..." An early festival promo trailer has debuted for a mysterious indie thriller titled Drive All Night, marking the feature directorial debut of the Bay Area's Peter Hsieh, most known for his stage plays. The film follows Dave, a reclusive swing-shift taxi driver, whose night takes an unexpected turn after he picks up a mysterious passenger, Cara, a young woman hiding a dark secret. As she makes him drive through the city on a series of bizarre excursions, things get increasingly more surreal the further into the night they go. Very cool. "I wanted to develop a complex and layered narrative that became increasingly more dream-like and surreal as the story developed. My goal is to take the audience down the rabbit hole on a fever dream trip through wonderland and hopefully have them come out the other side both baffled and entertained,...
