The Earth has been taken over but Robot Overlords and all humans are confined to their houses, risking incineration by Robot Sentries if they venture outside. As Sean Flynn and his friends figure out how to deactivate the electronic implants they are forced to wear, they set out to find his father, who has been missing since the war when the Robots took over. Using their new found freedom, they discover more than they bargain for and end up in a struggle which could determine the fate of the human race itself.
Robot Overlords. We all know it is going to happen. I definitely find myself eyeing all Apple products suspiciously, sure that one day they will...

So much to love in this Brit kiddie sci-fi adventure, with its brilliant concept that really works on a small budget and a real sense of place. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m a big ol’ sci-fi geek
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
So much to love in this Brit kiddie sci-fi adventure! It’s like classic Doctor Who — you know, like we haven’t gotten much of lately — except without the Doctor, of course. It’s a Ya postapocalyptic adventure not based on a book (it’s an original story). It’s set after the alien invasion, which is when, I’ve always felt, all the really interesting stories exist to be told and yet we haven’t seen many of them. And the AI ETs aren’t here for the water.

★★★☆☆With 2014 marking the 100th anniversary of author Edgar Rice Burroughs' most famous creation, Tarzan the Ape Man, it seemed inevitable that someone would make a new film for the character. The 19th time the story has appeared on the big screen, Reinhard Klooss' Tarzan (2013) begins with an accident in which the parents of young J.J. (Craig Garner) - heir to the Greystoke Energies business empire - are killed in the African jungle, leaving the boy alone in the wild. Found and taken care of by a female gorilla and her band, J.J. grows to become the man known only as Tarzan (Kellan Lutz). Years later, Jane Porter (Spencer Locke) meets Tarzan when travelling in the jungle with her father, an employee of Greystoke.
