There will be some noticeable changes to The Conners when it returns for its sixth season on Wednesday, February 7, as one of the show’s main cast members is exiting as a series regular. According to Deadline, Jayden Rey, who played DJ Conner’s (Michael Fishman) daughter Mary Conner on the hit ABC sitcom, will not be returning as a series regular for the upcoming season. However, the door remains open for possible guest appearances. Rey’s departure comes after her on-screen father, played by Fishman, was written out of the series ahead of the fifth season. DJ’s wife, Geena Williams Conner, was previously written out of the show after Season 1 when Maya Lynne Robinson exited the series. The Conners will be saying goodbye to one of its original stars as Michael Fishman departs the series ahead of Season 5, but how will his character DJ Conner be written out of the show? According to TV Line, executive producer Bruce Helford explained how the show will handle the character’s absence. Ahead of the September 21 premiere, Helford revealed that DJ will be thousands of miles away from Lanford. “He’s visiting [Geena], who right now is stationed overseas,” Helford said. “She was involved in the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, and she is still overseas on assignment, so he is going to be going over and spending time with his wife. It does get addressed in the first few episodes.” (Credit: ABC/Robert Trachtenberg) DJ’s wife Geena was played by Maya Lynne Robinson when The Conners launched in 2018, but as fans will recall, she left after Season 1 as the character reenlisted in the Army.

Apple TV+ has been ramping up its content slate with some of the most talked about original series.
The streaming service's latest surefire hit is Life By Ella, premiering globally Friday, September 2.
The series follows Ella as she returns to school with a brand new perspective, excitement for what the future holds, and a major "seize the day" mentality following her stint with cancer.
With her best friend by her side, she is ready to tackle everything she was too afraid of before, and determined not to let the minutiae of fake friends and social media status distract her.
The official trailer certainly highlights Ella's plight to "seize the day," even if those around her are not ready for her to return to doing what she loves best.

Consider yourself a “Friends” or “Happy Endings” fanatic? Then “Grand Crew” is the show you need to binge-watch next.
With a bunch of 30-something friends from Los Angeles discussing the ups and downs of life and career in a local wine bar called ‘Wine Down,’ “Grand Crew’s” plot will have you rolling on the floor with laughter.
The show also touches upon some serious themes that men in America face, but it never fails to keep you laughing. It depicts how men can be dismissive of exploring or showing their vulnerabilities; be it therapy, father/son issues, or even bad breakups. Each episode deals with one issue with plenty of doses of wine and humor.
About the Makers of “Grand Crew”
This friendship comedy premiered on December 14, 2021, and is created by writer and producer Phil Augusta Jackson (who also created “Insecure” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”). Dan Goor is the executive producer.

The Conners entered a new era on Wednesday, with Dan now a newly remarried man living with his second wife Louise. But the series’ opening credits were not updated to reflect the change in family dynamic — and they probably aren’t going to be updated anytime soon.
The fact that the Roseanne offshoot has yet to change its main title sequence seems awfully odd, especially when you consider that A) Roseanne switched things up a staggering 11 (!) times over 10 seasons, and B) the scene shown in the Conners opening credits represents the family’s first sit-down breakfast after Roseanne Conner died.

CBS yesterday canceled two sophomore series including The Unicorn, one of the best reviewed broadcast comedy series to debut in the past two years.
The single-camera half-hour, created by Bill Martin, Mike Schiff and Grady Cooper, attracted Walton Goggins in his first ever major role on an ongoing broadcast series. He was surrounded by a strong ensemble that included Rob Corddry, Michaela Watkins, Omar Miller and Maya Lynne Robinson and equally impressive recurring cast led by Betsy Brandt, Natalie Zea and Sarayu R. Blue.
Following CBS’ decision not to order a third season, Schiff, who executive produced and co-showran the series with Martin, as well as Watkins took to Twitter to thank fans.
“Producers often say they have the best casts in the world, but all the rest are lying – we truly did,” Schiff wrote.
Watkins, who retweeted Schiff’s post, made a joke about the show’s unconventional title.

CBS has started to pare down its returning series slate for next season, cancelling comedy The Unicorn‘s after two seasons. It is one two sophomore series the network won’t be bringing back, along with drama All Rise. Two other CBS bubble series, Seal Team and Clarice, are eying a move to Paramount+.
From the get-go, the single-camera Unicorn, starring Walton Goggins, has been, well, an unicorn, on CBS, not quite fitting into the network’s traditional sitcom mold.
Yet, the series, which was well received by critics and features one of the strongest comedy casts on TV, had big fans at the highest ranks at CBS, which helped it snag a Season 2 renewal last year for a limited midseason run, which concluded in March.
The Unicorn’s linear ratings were among the lowest on CBS but its Live+Same Day delivery was actually higher than that for the renewed S.

Both “All Rise” and “The Unicorn” have been canceled at CBS after two seasons each. “All Rise” is set to air its final episode at the end of May, while “The Unicorn” wrapped up in March.
The move to cancel “All Rise” comes less than two months after series creator and co-showrunner Greg Spottiswood was fired from the series following a probe into allegations of race and gender issues in the show’s writer room.
“All Rise” dealt with the lives and relationships of the judges, lawyers, clerks, and law enforcement officers who work at the Los Angeles County Courthouse. Alex Brinson, Lindsay Mendez, Ruthie Ann Miles, Lindsey Gort, and Audrey Corsa. Dee Harris Lawrence, Len Goldstein and Michael Robin were executive producers. Warner Bros. Television produced.

The Conners is staging an emotional family reunion. TVLine can exclusively reveal that former series regular Maya Lynne Robinson, who played DJ’s wife Geena in Season 1 of the Roseanne offshoot, will reprise her role in the Season 3 finale (airing Wednesday, May 19 at 9/8c).

Upon her Lanford homecoming, Geena makes some life-changing decisions that will affect not only herself, but her husband DJ and their daughter Mary.

A crew member for “The Conners” died on the ABC sitcom’s Los Angeles set on Thursday. The man, whose identity was not disclosed, also worked on “Roseanne.”
“With heavy hearts we regret to confirm that a member of our technical crew suffered a fatal medical event today,” a spokesperson for production company Carsey-Werner confirmed to TheWrap via a statement. “He was a much loved member of ‘The Conners’ and ‘Roseanne’ families for over 25 years. As we remember our beloved colleague, we ask that you respect the privacy of his family and loved ones as they begin their grieving process.”
The man was on the catwalk on Stage 22 on the CBS Studio Center when he suffered a medical emergency and was unable to be resuscitated by medics, according to TMZ. The gossip website said the man was in “his 50s or 60s” and primarily worked the lighting for the show.

1. “The Haunting of Bly Manor”
Why Should I Watch? After racking up a horror resume filled with films like “Absentia,” “Hush,” and “Before I Wake,” Mike Flanagan’s brand of fright broke out in a big way with “The Haunting of Hill House,” a character-driven spin on haunted house stories that spread its spooky tale over 10 unnerving episodes. Netflix subscribers lit up for the eerie tale (even before Flanagan’s “Shining” sequel “Doctor Sleep” hit theaters), and now Flanagan & Co. are back with a pseudo-sequel: “The Haunting of Bly Manor” tells its own story with many of the same cast members from “Hill House” returning in new roles. Saying too much would risk spoiling the slow-burn discovery inherent to Flanagan’s storytelling, but for those wanting a framework, “Bly Manor” is loosely inspired by Henry James’ 1898 novella “The Turn of the Screw.” For more…

“Evil” is set to conclude its 13-episode first season on Jan. 30, 2020, while the other four will still have to wait until later in the season for a definitive renewal decision.

If you miss having a steady influx of mid-budget family comedies in the multiplex, consider “The Unicorn” an instant fix to your absent “Instant Family.” Like “Single Parents” on ABC, the new CBS sitcom starring Walton Goggins aims for the heart of modern, middle-aged parents — not the same folks who fall for the CBS brand of fast-food shows like “Man with a Plan” and “Bob Hearts Abishola,” but the ones who want to believe their comfort food is still good for them. With a stylish setting, a stellar cast, and a premiere episode that respects its central character, “The Unicorn” is just the type of series that’ll make parents happy they don’t have to drive to the theater for their dinner-and-a-show date night.

CBS’ The Unicorn introduced us to a different kind of a magical creature on Thursday.
The new comedy stars Walton Goggins (Justified) as Wade, a widowed father of two daughters who is still living off neighbors’ frozen lasagnas and casseroles nearly a year after his wife’s death. His married friends — Michaela Watkins (Casual) and Rob Corddry (Ballers) play one pair, while Omar Miller (Ballers) and Maya Lynne Robinson (The Conners) make up the other — are concerned that Wade has let himself and his life go. Then there’s also the worrisome way that Wade seems to be completely oblivious to the fact that Tracy,...

Its central character, Walton Goggins’s Wade Felton, has been mourning his wife for a year; he and his daughters (Ruby Jay and Makenzie Moss) have reached the stage of acceptance, though the white-hot heat of active grief lifting allows them now to focus on certain confusions they’d been ignoring: How does a family constructed of four people go on, logistically, as three? And what would it mean to make the first, very tentative attempts towards welcoming a new person in?
All of which sounds like the stuff of drama, but “The Unicorn” moves with an easy and light step. Its concerns include learning to talk to daughters about dating and entering the online-matchmaking fray. These plotlines treat every party (from the daughters to the divorcée Wade asks out) with fairness and, crucially, don’t allow Wade to play the bumbling, inept dad. After all, he’s been a...

CBS has made its new comedy series picks, giving orders to the four most buzzed about pilots: Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins’ Carol’s Second Act, starring Patricia Heaton; Chuck Lorre’s Bob Hearts Abishola, headlined by Billy Gardell; Alex Herschlag and Jennie Snyder Urman’s Broke, starring Jaime Camil and Pauley Perrette; and Bill Martin and Mike Schiff’s The Unicorn, headlined by Walton Goggins.

CBS has ordered seven pilots to series for the 2019-20 season ahead of its upfront presentation to advertisers next week. The seven series are made up of four comedies and three dramas.
Among the comedies ordered at the broadcast network are Chuck Lorre’s “Bob Hearts Abishola,” Patricia Heaton’s “Carol’s Second Act” and “Broke” from “Jane the Virgin” creator Jennie Snyder Urman. The Peyton Reed-produced “The Unicorn” with Walton Goggins and Rob Corddry was also picked up.
Heaton starred on CBS’ “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Broke” will see “NCIS” star Pauley Perrette return to the network. The pickups will maintain Lorre’s — who already has “Mom” and “Young Sheldon” coming back next season — strong relationship with the network, after “The Big Bang Theory” says farewell next week.

The pickups will maintain Lorre’s — who already has “Mom” and “Young Sheldon” coming back next season — strong relationship with the network, after “The Big Bang Theory” says farewell next week.

Exclusive: Omar Benson Miller (Ballers) and Maya Lynne Robinson (The Conners) are set as series regulars opposite Walton Goggins, Michaela Watkins and Rob Corddry in CBS’ single-camera comedy pilot The Unicorn, from Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, Kapital Entertainment and CBS TV Studios.
Written by Martin and Schiff and directed by John Hamburg, The Unicorn, inspired by a true story, centers on Wade (Goggins), a recent widower who is eager to move on from the most difficult year of his life, only to realize he’s utterly unprepared to raise his two daughters on his own and equally unprepared for the dating world — where, to his shock, he’s suddenly a hot commodity.
Miller and Robinson play married couple Ben and Michelle, parents to four children. Ben is another of Wade’s well-meaning friends, who is convinced Wade is “going to crush it out there” in the dating world. He...

Will The Conners be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
