Goldie Hawn hasn't acted since Bob Dolman's 2002 "The Banger Sisters," in which she and Susan Sarandon played former groupies who reconnect after 20 years. And now it looks like her return to the screen could take just as long -- according to Deadline, Hawn has dropped out of "The Viagra Diaries," the HBO comedy pilot in which she was set to star. Based on Barbara Rose Brooker's novel of the same name about a woman who finds herself newly single and reentering the dating scene in her mid-60s, the potential series was created by Darren Star of "Sex and the City." More interestingly, the pilot is set to be helmed by Paul Feig, who's become a force to be reckoned with in terms of female-centric comedy after directing "Bridesmaids" and many episodes of "Nurse Jackie" (a show on which he also serves as co-executive producer). Wendi McLendon-Covey of "Bridesmaids" has also been.

Exclusive: Goldie Hawn‘s return to acting is being put on hold. I’ve learned that the Oscar-winning actress is off HBO’s comedy pilot The Viagra Diaries, her first gig in a decade. I hear that, after bumpy last few months, HBO and the actress have mutually agreed to part ways. Viagra Diaries was created by Sex and the City creator/executive producer Darren Star and directed by Bridesmaids helmer Paul Feig. The series is based on the book by Barbara Rose Brooker and centers on Claire, who, after her husband has a “mid-life crisis” at 65 and leaves her, struggles with being single for the first time in 35 years. HBO wouldn’t comment, but there have been rumors about Hawn being difficult in her dealings with the rest of the people involved in the project and in the casting process. Bridesmaids’ Wendi McLendon-Covey is the only actor besides Hawn...

While many continue to speculate whether or not this past summer’s breakout comedy “Bridesmaids” deserves a sequel, stars like Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are lining up far more interesting projects than a rehash of that great comedy, and so is their director Paul Feig. While Feig wisely avoided “Bridget Jones 3,” he lined up a new directorial effort at Universal with “The Better Woman” and now Deadline is reporting Feig will heap another helping of female centered comedy on his plate by helming HBO’s Goldie Hawn-starring pilot for “The Viagra Diaries.” Created by Darren Star, who executive produced/created “Sex and the City” for HBO, and based on a book by Barbara Rose Brooker, the series follows a woman (Hawn) whose husband experiences his “mid-life crisis” at 65. He leaves her to cope with functioning as a single woman after 35 long years of marriage. There’s a bunch of producer.

Yet more good news if you’re glad to see Bridesmaids director Paul Feig getting lots of work in the wake of the hit comedy – he’s just landed yet another gig, signing on to direct a new comedy pilot for HBO called The Viagra Diaries.Created by former Sex And The City overseer Darren Star, the show will star Goldie Hawn as a 65-year-old woman whose husband has what can only be described as a later-life crisis and leaves her. Suddenly single for the first time in 35 years, the plot will follow how Hawn’s character deals with her new situation.Sounds like Star isn’t wandering too far from his original show’s territory, just shoving the ages up a little bit. Plus, like Satc, it’s adapted from a book, this time one by Barbara Rose Brooker. Producers Alan, Wendy and Paul Riche (that would be a...

Exclusive: I hear that HBO is finalizing a deal for a pilot order to The Viagra Diaries, a half-hour comedy created by Sex and the City creator/executive producer Darren Star and starring Oscar winner Goldie Hawn. The project is looking for a director and eyes spring production start in New York. Based on the book by Barbara Rose Brooker, Viagra Diaries centers on a woman (Hawn) who, after her husband has a “mid-life crisis” at 65 and leaves her, struggles with being single for the first time in 35 years. The novel was first eyed for a feature, with husband-and-wife duo Alan and Wendy Riche and their son Peter attached to produce. Independent TV producer Aaron Kaplan (Terra Nova) then took over the property and, with the Riches still on board, took it to Star who came on board to adapt it as a comedy series.
