Ricardo Barretto is a screenwriter, producer, actor, and director. After being chosen out of an intensive drama arts program in his hometown as a recipient of a full scholarship to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in London, he completed his education at the Stella Adler Conservatory in Los Angeles and Shakespeare & Company in Massachusetts, the best all-American Shakespeare Company.
His scientific journey led to cognitive psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, consciousness, creativity, and drama studies at the University of California, Irvine, where he graduated with honors. He continued his postgraduate work at the Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, following his longtime passion for Depth Psychology and Mythology.
He worked and met with recognized world leaders and startups in future technology as an international agent, mainly in longevity and future medicine/public health, and received an academic Global Innovators Award. His current research areas include dark matter, Jungian film theory, consciousness and the nature of reality, longevity, and artificial intelligence risk assessment regarding meaning and significance to what we define as humans.
As a screenwriter, he helped several producers and directors, including the winner of Best Film in Brazil in 2012. He had heads of network drama and film departments, the director of a major film festival, and heads of creative departments as students. He just completed a Sundance Sci-fi program and has several projects in development, mainly dealing with aspects of technological enchantment.
