The Whole Spiel and Lone Wolf Pictures are developing a fantasy drama television series based on Anthony Ryan’s “Raven’s Shadow Trilogy” and “Raven’s Blade” duology books.
The series is going under a working title of “Queen of Fire.”
The series will follow the story of five characters “in a shared destiny of another world, divided into warring nations, where the politics are as cut-throat as any own real-world history,” per Lone Wolf Pictures.
“I am thrilled with the production’s fresh, original and expansive vision for adapting my books and stories for global screen audiences and core fans alike,” Ryan said in a statement. “It is an exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with the creative team in bringing my universe and characters to life on screen.”

Paul Telegdy’s The Whole Spiel is pacting with Lone Wolf Pictures to develop another project, this one based on the fantasy novel “Queen of Fire” and the other books in the “Raven’s Shadow” and “Raven’s Blade” books.
The adventure drama series, currently with the working title “Queen of Fire,” would follow legends, worlds and characters created by author Anthony Ryan in both the “Raven’s Shadow” trilogy and “Raven’s Blade” duology books, as well as collections of short stories written by The New York Times and international-bestselling storyteller.
Stephen McDonogh, Telegdy and Ryan would executive produce, with showrunners to be named later. With an eye toward turning the franchise into a multi-season fantasy TV series, Lone Wolf Pictures acquired exclusive rights to the Penguin Random House published multi-volume universe.

Stephen McDonogh’s Lone Wolf Pictures has acquired rights to Anthony Ryan’s Raven’s Shadow fantasy book franchise to develop into a television series. Paul Telegdy and Stefan Telegdy’s The Whole Spiel will executive produce the project.
Tentatively titled Queen of Fire, the TV series will feature the legends, worlds and characters of the Raven’s Shadow book trilogy, its sequel, the Raven’s Blade duology, and collections of Raven’s Shadow short stories written by Ryan.
It follows the journeys of five characters in a shared destiny of another world, divided into warring nations, where the politics are as cut-throat as any own real-world history. That includes Lyrna, an enslaved princess who, despite the malign manipulations of her father, rises to lead an empire in uncovering the truth of the forbidden powers of the Dark; Reva, a young woman, born to privilege, stolen from her loving home,...

“Project Runway All Stars” season seven is coming down to the wire, so with only four contestants remaining in this all-champions edition of the fashion competition series, we asked fans who they think deserves to win. But that turned out to be a surprisingly difficult question, because while our readers are pretty sure they know who will win, there’s not nearly as much agreement on who should win. Scroll down for our complete poll results.
Irina Shabayeva is the designer our readers are rooting for the most, but that’s not saying much because she only got 28% of the vote, which is barely more than she statistically would have gotten if our respondents randomly picked a name out of a hat. It was damn near a tie between her and Evan Biddell (27%), while Dmitry Sholokhov (24%) and Michelle Lesniak (21%) trailed, but not by much. I myself had trouble deciding on...

There are only four designers left in the special all-champions edition of “Project Runway All Stars,” so there’s nowhere to hide. One stitch out of place could mean disaster, especially with the way the competition has swung wildly all season, with contestants going right from the top of the heap to the bottom of the pack and vice versa. So who (if anyone) will be ousted in the season’s penultimate challenge?
According to the combined predictions of Gold Derby users, Michelle Lesniak is the likeliest to be eliminated. She gets leading odds of 23/10 of being sent home even though she has been one of the strongest contestants all season with two challenge wins and four other high scores. She even had a four-week streak from episodes 7-10 where she was in the judges’ top three every time.

“They got it wrong,” commented our reader Hidden Angel after the “Project Runway All Stars” judges eliminated Anthony Ryan Auld last week in “Nina Says Don’t Cry Over Spilt Silk.” Angel thought Michelle Lesniak should have been sent home instead for the “scrapped together thing” she sent down the runway, and most “Runway” fans agree judging from the results of our poll. Scroll down to see those complete results.
Nina Garcia, the editor-in-chief of Elle magazine and a longtime judge on the original “Project Runway” series, guested on “All Stars” to give the final five designers a luxurious challenge: they had to design a formal silk gown worthy of a royal ball. Auld and Lesniak both struggled with that task since neither of them is accustomed to making ball gowns. Auld ended up with a caftan dress with feather details, while Lesniak made a kaleidoscopic dress in a patchwork of bright colors.

The seventh and final season of “Project Runway All Stars” (the final season on Lifetime at least) is nearing the end, and the competition is down to the final four. In this season consisting entirely of past “Runway” champions, the best of the best are Evan Biddell, Michelle Lesniak, Irina Shabayeva and Dmitry Sholokhov. Who among them do you think deserves to be crowned the champion of champions when all is said and done? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
In terms of who will win, the women seem to have the advantage on paper since they have won two design challenges each over the course of the season, while the two men have won only one apiece. The judges on “Project Runway All Stars” sure are unforgiving. The two designers on the chopping block at the end of “Nina Says Don’t Cry Over Spilt Silk” were Anthony Ryan Auld and Michelle Lesniak, the only two designers who had won two previous design challenges (Lesniak just won her second last week). It was Auld who ended up exiting the competition after a challenge he tearfully struggled with, but I don’t think he really deserved to go. He was one of the best designers of the season, and maybe I’m in the minority but I thought he was one of the better designers of the night too. Do you agree? Auld’s heart wasn’t really in this week’s challenge, which was to design a gown for a royal ball with luxurious silk.

Royal fever swept Wednesday’s Project Runway All Stars, which tasked the remaining five designers with creating ball gowns using luxurious silks. To elevate this experience, the challenge was presented by special guest judge Nina Garcia, a longtime member of Runway’s royal court.
And while tensions certainly ran high this week, the outcome was fairly predictable. From the moment the challenge was announced, Irina Shabayeva’s fellow contestants projected that she would win, given her extensive gown-designing experience. And even though she did come out on top with her “dynamite” design — a modern, sexier version of a ball gown...

We’re in the home stretch of “Project Runway All Stars” season seven. Only five contestants were left going into the Wednesday night, March 13 episode, “Nina Says Don’t Cry Over Spilt Silk,” and (presumably) only four came out. So who advanced to next week’s penultimate episode, and who was left crying in a pool of misspent silk? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
“Spilt Silk” features Nina Garcia, the editor-in-chief of Elle magazine and a longtime judge on the original “Project Runway” series (you can see her on Thursday night when that show returns to Bravo for its 17th season). Christina Exie was surprised that she was eliminated from “Project Runway All Stars” in the “Climate Quick Change” challenge, and so were a lot of our users. Our predictions pointed to Dmitry Sholokhov as the designer most likely to be sent home, but he actually ended up with one of the top three scores even though his look sharply divided the judging panel. When we asked our readers what they thought of the judges’ decision, though, the vast majority thought the wrong designer was sent home.
The “Climate” challenge was to design a look that could transition from one weather condition to another. Exie had to create a look for the beach that would go from sun to high winds, so she went with a black bathing suit worn under a caftan that could be tied around the waist. The look wasn’t too inventive, and the cinching required too...

Mother Nature made an unofficial guest appearance on Wednesday’s Project Runway All Stars, luring the half-dozen remaining designers into a battle against the elements.
This week’s climate change-themed episode challenged the season’s top six contestants to “design transformational resort wear, a look that transitions from one type of weather condition to another all in the same resort.”
Let’s start with the winner: The judges were “crazy” about Michelle Lesniak’s windy-to-rainy jumpsuit, whose overlay skirt snaps off and converts into a raincoat. Not only did the panel praise Michelle for her inventiveness, but it commended her “genius” fabric blending.

“Project Runway All Stars” season seven is heating up — literally. In episode 10 of the fashion competition, “Climate Quick Change,” the remaining designers had to create convertible resort-wear that could transition from one climate to another, with Tony-winning actress Cynthia Erivo and fashion designer Reem Acra on hand as guest judges. “Project Runway All Stars” is down to its top six contestants, but after eight weeks of competition there is only one who has yet to receive a single low score from the judges: Evan Biddell. But most of the Gold Derby users who have been making their predictions from week to week still don’t think he’s the one to beat. As of this writing he ranks fourth in our forecasts with 8/1 odds while Irina Shabayeva remains in front-runner position. Are we underestimating him?
The show has narrowed down the competition to the very best, which is saying something because when the season started all 14 contestants had won a previous edition of “Runway,” either here or abroad. But fashion is fickle, so almost all of the other designers have stumbled at least once. Shabayeva has gotten three low scores, more than any other contestant left in the competition — though...

After Dmitry Sholokhov won the first design challenge on “Project Runway All Stars” season seven he quickly became our front-runner to win the whole competition, and for good reason. Sholokhov has never lost. He previously won season 10 of the main “Runway” series and then season 4 of “All Stars.” Even low scores are almost unheard of for the dominant designer. But is he at risk of being eliminated from “Runway” for the first time ever? Our users think so.
Based on the combined predictions of our users as of this writing, Sholokhov is the likeliest to be eliminated from episode 10 tonight with leading odds of 27/10. But how could that be if he has historically been so rock-solid? Well, he’s coming off what was arguably his worst week in “Runway” history. In “All-Inclusive,” his gender-neutral trench coat in metallic silver looked to the judges like a Martian costume, and he landed in the bottom two,...

As Heidi Klum used to say on “Project Runway,” “In fashion, one day you’re in, and the next you’re out” … unless you’re Dmitry Sholokhov. The bulletproof designer, who won both “Runway” season 10 and “All Stars” season 4, has looked just as indomitable in “All Stars” season 7, which brought together an entire cast of past champions from around the world. He won the very first challenge of the season and has been safe every week since. But in “All-Inclusive” he found himself in uncharted territory: the bottom two! My hot take is that the judges’ criticisms were overdue.
“All-Inclusive” challenged the designers to create gender-neutral street-wear looks for various male, female, and non-binary models. Sholokhov’s primary inspiration was a trench coat with a crisscross in the front and an open back, all in a silver metallic fabric. Judge Georgina Chapman praised him for his “flawless,” “polished” clothes, but...

The remaining six designers were thrown for a bit of a loop on Wednesday’s episode of Project Runway All Stars, which required them to think a little differently about gender and fashion.

Though the designers were given their models’ measurements, they wouldn’t actually get to meet them until it was time for the first runway fitting.

Last week on “Project Runway All Stars” Anthony Ryan Auld became the first contestant of the season to win two design challenges. “What we’ll see will defy explanation.” Those lyrics from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” couldn’t have been more fitting on “Project Runway All Stars.” In episode seven, “Pure Imagination,” the designers embarked on this season’s avant garde challenge. The avant garde challenge has always been an opportunity for designers to let their freak flags fly, but they had better fly high, especially this season. In the first six weeks of the competition the judges saw some wild, unflattering designs, but they have often been harder on contestants who created bland, uninspired looks (like Juli Grbac) than those who took big swings and missed (like three-time low-scorer Django Steenbakker). And when it comes to avant garde fashion, there’s nothing worse than boring.

Anya Ayoung-Chee warned us in the season premiere of ‘Project Runway All Stars” that sewing wasn’t her strong suit. She was almost eliminated from the show on that very first challenge. But then she seemed to get along just fine, earning safe scores from the judges every week thereafter … until now. Ayoung-Chee’s strength was in flowing looks, so she knew she was in trouble as soon as the challenge was announced: to create a red carpet look with metallic fabric. The problem was that a metallic fabric wouldn’t work with her usual aesthetic, so it exposed her biggest weakness as a designer.

In what has been an especially turbulent season of “Project Runway All Stars,” Sean Kelly is the latest to go from worst to first. He was a surprise addition to the show at the end of the season premiere episode, and it’s been a tumultuous run for him. The “Project Runway All Stars” contestants put the “Pedal to the Metal” in episode six. The 10 remaining designers used metallic fabrics and unique textures to create red carpet looks that they hoped would please the guest judges: talk show host Wendy Williams, Victoria’s Secret model Lily Aldridge and race car driver Danica Patrick. So who drove the judges wild, and who had their fashion license revoked? Scroll down for our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
This season of “All Stars” has pit past champions from American “Runway” shows against champions from abroad, and up to this point the Americans have wiped the floor with the international contenders. Django Steenbakker, Cynthia Hayashi and Anya Ayoung-Chee are the only contestants left on “Project Runway All Stars” this season who haven’t gotten a single high score from the judges yet. So it comes as little surprise that they’re the three designers our users think are most likely to get the boot tonight in episode six, “Pedal to the Metal.” Will they reform their low-scoring ways, or will one of them finally be sent home?
Steenbakker gets leading odds of 46/25 of being sent home. We thought the Netherlander would be eliminated last week too, and I was a little surprised he wasn’t. His interpretation of a lion for the “On the Prowl” challenge was an ill-fitting mint green number the judges couldn’t make heads or tails of. The “On the Prowl” challenge on “Project Runway All Stars” featured the season’s most dramatic designer face-off thus far when Dmitry Sholokhov and a few other contestants insinuated that Michelle Lesniak stole Sholokhov’s ideas. The judges didn’t see it that way since they gave Lesniak the win. But did she really win by copying her opponent’s work? The “Runway” fans who responded to our poll are on Team Michelle on this one. Scroll down for our complete poll results.
When we asked our readers if Lesniak deserved to win for her edgy porcupine-inspired design, 52% said that she did. Another 29% thought the challenge’s runner-up Anthony Ryan Auld should have been the victor for his interpretation of owl elegance. Only 11% would have picked Sholokhov’s rhea dress, which mentor Anne Fulenwider warned him was reminiscent of a Renaissance faire. The last 8% thought the challenge should have been...

“How much nipple is too much nipple?” These and other important questions were tackled on Wednesday’s episode of Project Runway All Stars, which sent the remaining 11 designers to New Jersey’s Turtleback Zoo for an inspirational walk on the wild side.
With a hissing snake draped on her shoulders, Britney Spears-style, host Alyssa Milano announced that the contestants needed to “create a runway look to attract the most attention on a wild night out.” The designers could each choose one animal from the zoo (first come first serve!), incorporating all of that creature’s characteristics — not just the...

The “Project Runway All Stars” contestants this season designed looks inspired by national heritage, corsets and even airplane parts, but in episode five the show went to the dogs — or maybe the zebras, the elephants, or the gorillas. In “On the Prowl,” the remaining 11 competitors took their inspiration from zoo animals. So who won the challenge, and who went on the endangered species list? Scroll down for our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
The international contestants got off to a slow start in this all-champions edition that pits winners of the American “Runway” against winners of the show’s foreign spin-offs. In the first four weeks of competition, three challenges were won by American champs: Dmitri Sholokhov in “All Stars Goes Global,” Anthony Ryan Auld in “Top of the Class” and Irina Shabayeva in “Buckle Up!” And two of the first three eliminations were contestants from abroad.

It’s corsets, of course! One week after the “Project Runway All Stars” season seven contestants tackled their unconventional materials challenge in “Buckle Up!” they got another unconventional challenge of sorts. In “Of Corsets Fashion” the 12 remaining designers turned underwear into outwear by making runway looks out of corsets. Who cinched up a win, and who wore out their welcome? Last week’s “Buckle Up” challenge ended in the surprising elimination of Seth Aaron Henderson in 13th place. Every “All Stars” contestant this season is a past winner, but Henderson was undefeated, winning both of the seasons he previously competed in. The fact that he could be ejected so soon means no one is safe in this competition.

Is anyone else getting whiplash from the seventh and final season of “Project Runway All Stars” on Lifetime? For the second time in a row a contestant won a design challenge a week after they were nearly eliminated. In “Top of the Class” Anthony Ryan Auld made a comeback. Now in “Buckle Up!” it was Irina Shabayeva‘s turn to be redeemed. Did you agree with the judges that she deserved to win the latest challenge?
Many of our readers thought Shabayeva should have gotten a failing grade for last week’s blue-and-white graduation party look, which the judges thought looked like a “slutty princess.” But she experienced no such turbulence during the “Buckle Up” challenge, in which she and her fellow contestants used unconventional materials associated with air travel. I’ve had it with these monkey-fighting unconventional challenges on this Monday-to-Friday plane!
It’s only week three of “Project Runway All Stars,” but it’s already time for an unconventional materials challenge, in which the contestants will design for the friendly skies. But “Buckle Up!” should be no sweat for a cast full of past “Runway” champions, right? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
Last week’s “Top of the Class” challenge ended with the elimination of Canadian “Runway” champ Sunny Fong, leaving 13 contestants in the running for the world title. Dmitry Sholokhov won the season premiere challenge, and then Anthony Ryan Auld recovered from his rough start by winning in “Class.” That means the American “Runway” champs are two-for-two, while the international winners are aiming to strike back.

Week two of “Project Runway All Stars” showed just how tumultuous this champions season can be. Anthony Ryan Auld won the “Top of the Class” design challenge after nearly being eliminated in the season premiere. And Irina Shabayeva was nearly sent home after a high score on night one. So who will be out in week three? Our users are betting on Anya Ayoung-Chee again, but Michelle Lesniak may also be at risk.
“Runway” season nine champion Ayoung-Chee disappointed the judges in the first challenge with a look that was far too safe for their tastes, but she redeemed herself in “Class” with a graduation party design that put her safely through to round three. However, she didn’t get a high score in the challenge, so she still hasn’t stood out to judges this season as a contender. Maybe that’s why most of our users still think she’ll get the boot.

Well that was fast. After winning the design challenge in the season seven premiere of “Project Runway All Stars,” undefeated design dynamo Dmitry Sholokhov shot to the top of our winner predictions. But at the end of that premiere Sean Kelly was added to the show’s lineup in a surprise twist, and it only took him a week to rise to the top. Now Kelly is in pole position, according to the Gold Derby users currently predicting “All Stars.”
Kelly now gets leading odds of 46/25. He previously won season 13 of the original “Runway” series, and this is his first appearance on “All Stars,” but even though he showed up a week late he wasted no time getting on the judges’ good side. In “Top of the Class” the designers were tasked with creating a high-class look for a graduation party in two colors. Kelly made unique use of feathers...

It was the worst of times, it was the best of times for “Project Runway All Stars” contestant Anthony Ryan Auld. In the season seven premiere he struggled with the recent loss of his grandmother and produced a slapdash look that nearly got him eliminated right out of the gate. But he made an epic comeback in the second week of competition. What did you think of his performance in “Top of the Class“? Was it grade-a for you like it was for the judges?
Luckily for Auld there was no elimination in the season premiere, so while he and Anya Ayoung-Chee finished as the bottom two, they both lived to design another day. But the second challenge got off to a rough start for Auld too. The contestants were tasked with creating a graduation party look in two colors. The designers didn’t get to choose their colors, though.

Third time proved to be the charm for Anthony Williams when he won season 6 of “Project Runway All Stars” on April 5. The Atlanta, Georgia native had first competed on season 7 of the main show in 2010, where he placed fifth. He then contended in the first season of “All Stars” in 2012 and placed ninth.
Williams’ win was even more impressive, given that he was going up against two designers — Fabio Costa and Stanley Hudson — who had done much better than him in their previous appearances on this reality competition franchise. Costa had been the runner-up on season 10 of the main show and placed fifth on season four of “All-Stars.” And Hudson had been third on season 11 of “Project Runway.”

Anthony Williams won season six of “Project Runway All Stars” at the end of the finale episode, “Making Fashion History,” on April 5. But how does he compare to the history of “All Stars” winners? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
For Williams, the third time was the charm. He originally competed in season seven of the original “Project Runway” series back in 2010. He was eliminated in seventh place, but then brought back after another contestant withdrew from the competition. Ultimately, he ended that season in fifth place. Then he took part in the first ever season of “All Stars” in 2012, but that didn’t go any better for him: he was sent home in ninth place. So he had a lot to prove stepping into the “Runway” workroom for the third time this year. And he certainly proved it, defeating two other finalists...

In this exciting episode, the designers are taken for a ride as they are assigned with a task to craft a dress for Marge Simpson to wear! Keep reading for our recap of ‘Project Runway All Stars’ season three episode six!
It looks like the designers are making their way through the TV networks! First, with last week’s Bonnie & Clyde-inspired challenge, and now Fox’s 25th anniversary of The Simpsons! Marge herself asks the designers to come up with a dress for her to wear on a special date with her husband Homer- even joking that the restaurant will have real waiter service, and not a cafeteria! She tells them she wants to look sexy for her date and asks that the dress not be green, and easy to remove for a late night “dessert” with Homer. Alyssa Milano tells the designers that the winning look will be worn...

As promised (and hopefully this isn't a huge spoiler for anyone), I interviewed this season's "Project Runway All Stars" winner Anthony Ryan Auld today. It's always a relief to find that someone who seems personable and chatty on reality TV (which, given the sleep deprivation and stress, is not so easy to pull off) is just as friendly over the phone. Auld, who called from his Baton Rouge home, talked about what's next, what he thought of the other finalists, and what was really going on when his Bff Josh McKinley refused to help him in the finale. "Let's face it, I'm tired!"
It's the final episode! Would it provide any surprises?
No.
Actually, that's not true. There was one huge surprise. The designers are told they have four days to create their final mini-collections, but they don't have to to go it alone. All of the eliminated designers are brought back, and each finalist gets to pick one to help them get to the runway. This was expected, as it's been done ... on every Project Runway. The surprise is that Anthony Ryan picks new Bff Joshua to help him ... and Josh says no.
Unfortunately, it's not bitchiness that keeps Josh from offering his services (which would have been believable), it's something far more ... understandable. He's just ... tired.
Emilio chooses Althea, and Uli chooses Casanova, who apparently must be in a "dark place" too.
Let's take a look at how each of the designers fared!
