- Is a big fan of "The Wire" the show that David Simon, creator of Treme, is most popular for.
- In May of 2000, he was caught in the leg by a stray bullet while outside of a night club.
- In his poem for the promo "The City" Gian makes reference to 'O.T.' This is actually Oliver Thomas, who is featured throughout season 2 of "Treme." The two are friends from a private poker game. Gian included this line as an homage to Oliver Thomas as well as an acknowledgement to his part on the series.
- Has written two original performance poems for "Treme." The first titled "You Betta Ask Somebody" was for a symposium featuring the shows creators. The second one was for a promo entitled "The City" and is an excerpt from his poem "Still the City.".
