Exclusive: The CW is getting back into business with the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend gang.
The network has put in development romantic mystery comedy drama I’m In Love With The Dancer From My Bat Mitzvah. The show was created by Ilana Wolpert, who was an assistant on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She will write and exec produce with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-creator Rachel Bloom exec producing alongside PEN15 exec producer Debbie Liebling.
The show comes from CBS Studios.
It follows a young woman on the cusp of college graduation, who, after being romantically rejected by her best friend, becomes obsessed with a dancer from her bat mitzvah, leading her and her friends down a dangerous rabbit hole of criminal conspiracy. Inspired by real events, it calls into question the stories we tell ourselves and the lengths we’ll go to delay dealing with reality.

Pop TV has ordered “Mother Mary,” a new comedy pilot that puts a modern twist on one of the most famous, biblical stories ever told.
Asking the question, “What would happen in today’s world if the most irresponsible and lazy human on Earth was impregnated by immaculate conception?” “Mother Mary” will star Betsy Sodaro, who developed the character, in the titular role.
Written and executive produced by Casey Feigh, Dan Gregor and Sodaro (Disjointed), “Mother Mary” is from CBS Television Studios. Also serving as executive producers are Rachel Bloom, along with Tony Hernandez and Brooke Posch of Jax Media. Gregor will direct the pilot.

Pop TV has made its first comedy greenlight this cycle, handing a pilot order to comedy Mother Mary. Described as a modern twist on one of the most famous stories ever told, the project hails from writers Casey Feigh (What We Do in the Shadows), Dan Gregor (How I Met Your Mother) and Betsy Sodaro (Disjointed). Sodaro developed the title character and stars alongside Rachel Bloom, who also executive produces; Jax Media and CBS Television Studios co produce. The project was announced Monday as part of the network’s presentation at the TCA winter press tour.
