Izabella Pörös was born December 7, 1982, in Budapest, Hungary. Her fascination for films began as a child. Growing up with a mother who teaches English and a film historian father who used to bring his work home with him, she was able to sink her teeth into the understanding of film at an early age. Wanting to be a filmmaker she attended screenwriting workshops and studied drama for five years.
Her first short film, It's a Long Way, premiered at the New York City International Film Festival, where she received a nomination for Best Direction. Later that year, It's a Long Way won an audience award in Mediawave's 'On the Road' category. In 2017, she directed a music video for a song called Runaway for which she was awarded the Best Indie Filmmaker award at the Top Shorts Film Festival in the US and was nominated for Best Direction at the International Music Video Underground in Paris. Since then she has also directed Sin, a film that depicts biblical themes in the modern world, highlighting the societal prejudice against women that exists today as it has throughout the ages. Recently, she has been working on a documentary about a female volunteer firefighter.
