Dr. Anthony Garcia seemed to lead a successful life, with a house on a quiet street in Terre Haute, Indiana, and a Ferrari parked in the driveway.
Behind closed doors, however, police say it seemed the opposite: His life was “falling apart.”
On Friday, NBC’s Dateline will explore the troubled life of Garcia, a once-promising University of Utah medical school graduate turned serial killer.
Police say he was driven by a years-long revenge plot after he was fired from Nebraska’s Creighton University in 2001 and was dogged by bad references from his former supervisors.

On the afternoon of March 13, 2008, Dr. William Hunter, a Residency Program Director for the Department of Pathology at Creighton University, discovered the bodies of his 11-year-old son and housekeeper, Shirlee Sherman, in their Omaha home. Both victims were brutally stabbed in the right side of the neck.
Five years later, tragedy struck again at Creighton University’s pathology program: Police discovered the bodies of Roger and Mary Brumback, both 65, in their West Omaha home on May 14, 2013. Roger, the former chair of Creighton’s Department of Pathology, was discovered in the entranceway, shot three times and stabbed six times in the neck.

It has been more than eight years since the killing of 11-year-old Thomas Hunter, but his older brother feels the pain like it was yesterday — despite the fact that the killer is behind bars.

The March 13, 2008 double murder was so shocking it made national headlines.
Eleven-year-old Thomas Hunter was found stabbed to death in his family’s Omaha, Nebraska, home, his body discovered near that of the family’s house cleaner, Shirlee Sherman. The boy’s father, Dr. William Hunter, a prominent doctor and director for the Department of Pathology at Creighton University, made the initial discovery.
The killer left the same grisly signature on both of the bodies: A knife stuck in the right side of their necks.

Anthony Garcia, a former medical resident, became a convicted serial killer Wednesday afternoon as jurors returned guilty verdicts on his four first-degree murder counts, People confirms.
Garcia, 42, faces either life imprisonment or the death penalty, court officials tell People.
His sentence will depend on the outcome of a Nov. 8 ballot question being put before the Nebraska voters that could abolish the state’s death penalty.
It’s the ending to what prosecutors have described a years-long series of revenge killings that started with Garcia’s firing from a residency program at Nebraska’s Creighton University School of Medicine.

One possibly surprising character to return from the chaos of The Dark Knight in the final Christopher Nolan Batman film The Dark Knight Rises is Gotham City mayor Anthony Garcia, played by actor Nestor Carbonell. Garcia, an uncharacteristically pure and just politician in the face of Gotham’s crime and corruption, was a key figure in The Dark Knight, as he was a power player in a city that did what both Commissioner Jim Gordon and Batman both did: put their unwavering faith in District Attorney Harvey Dent to save Gotham from the stranglehold of organized crime. So, believe it or not, Forbes is covering geek news now. Guess the 1% likes their comic books, either that or they realize more people read geek news online than what's happening with the Asian stock markets. In any event, some guy has penned a pretty elaborate argument on how Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character in "The Dark Knight Rises" -- John Blake, a cop assigned to cover Bruce Wayne -- could possibly be Robin aka Dick Grayson, and uses a few clues to put it together.
Using the chalk symbol that John Blake leaves around Gotham as a starting point, the writer notes it looks (vaguely) like the Nightwing symbol (which for those of you that don't know, is what Grayson became after he hung up the Robin suit at the age of 18). Then in a pretty big leap, the writer notes that if you turn the chalk symbol upsidedown it...

At the site DewGothamCity.com, promoting "The Dark Knight Rises", comes a press release from the 'Office Of The Mayor', proclaiming the anti-vigilante, 'Dent Act'.
"Mayor Announces His Signing Of The Dent Act
This morning Mayor Anthony Garcia, signed the Dent Act. The legislation passed unanimously by the City Assembly, will bolster the City's campaign against organized crime. One of the main features of the Act, is the creation of stricter penalties, including the denial of parole, for those who commit any crimes, deemed as a part or function of a larger criminal enterprise. This will close the loophole that existed in the previous laws that hampered the city's ability to stamp out organized crime.
"Harvey Dent was a hero in the true sense of the word," said the Mayor. "His courage in taking on the criminal empires that ruled our streets, saved our city. It would be inappropriate for...

Introducing the Dent Act. While this isn't much of a viral, there was an authentic-looking City of Gotham document found on the DewGothamCity.com website, found via SuperHeroHype, mentioning the Dent Act. As we all know, Harvey Dent didn't make it past The Dark Knight, and we see his funeral in one of the first trailers. So, in the world of The Dark Knight Rises, the city introduced the "Dent Act" in his name to "bolster the city's campaign against organized crime." The document outlines some plans, and includes a good quote by Gotham Mayor Anthony Garcia. "This Bill is Harvey Dent's legacy and I intend to protect it." See below! We're not exactly sure where on the DewGothamCity website this was originally found, but Shh says "keep your eyes peeled for more special gems hidden inside the game." Here's the complete Dent Act document: Any idea what this ties into,...

Harvey Dent is dead. Long live Harvey Dent!
Though the supposed White Knight of Gotham City was "murdered" by the Batman, his legacy lives on in the form of the Harvey Dent Act. In "The Dark Knight Rises," Dent's presence will hang heavily over the story in the form of a new law passed following his death, one that "gives Police Commissioner Jim Gordon the tools needed to deal the final blow to the criminal and the corrupt that remain active within our city," according to a statement issued by Gotham mayor Anthony Garcia.
"Harvey Dent was a hero in the true sense of the word," the mayor's statement reads. "His courage in taking on the criminal empires that ruled our streets saved our city. It would be inappropriate for us not to honor his sacrifice."

The Dark Knight Rises has debuted a new viral promotion, centred around the fictional Harvey Dent Act. A mock-up press release has been issued announcing Gotham Mayor Anthony Garcia's signing of the new legislation, which aims to "bolster the city's campaign against organised crime". Released by Cbm, the bill is designed to close loopholes in the law which have allowed organised crime to flourish, and establishes Batman as a dangerous vigilante. Named in honour of Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), who died at the climax of The Dark Knight, the bill also establishes an official city holiday in honour of his "sacrifice". Filming on Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises is moving from Los Angeles to New York City, with a casting call going out for extras to fill numerous military and law enforcement roles.
Backstage is reporting that the Warner Bros production - codenamed Magnus Rex - will shoot in the city from October 29 to November 11.
Producers are looking for men and women aged over 18, of all ethnicities, "to play law enforcement within a city besieged by crime and corruption."
Specific roles include guards, soldiers and police officers. Extras need to be "physically-fit athletes, people with military and/or law enforcement training/experience, weapons training and/or martial arts training."
We can almost certainly expect the fanboy photographers to be out in force when all that takes place. The most recent images to flood the internet showed Anne Hathaway in costume as Catwoman from the La shoot.

Few actors are as well-trained in the art of keeping secrets as Nestor Carbonell.
Most recently playing eternally youthful Richard Alpert on "Lost" and Mayor Anthony Garcia in Christopher Nolan's "Batman" trilogy, the 43-year-old TV veteran has found a fitting home on the spoiler-free set of the CW's "Ringer."
"Between 'Lost' and the 'Dark Knight,' I've learned to take a deep breath before answering a question in case I give something away," Carbonell tells Zap2it. He's finding it easier to stay quiet on "Ringer," though -- mostly because he doesn't have many answers yet. "Every time I crack open a script, I have no idea where it's going."
Carbonell says he's in a very similar place as the fans, slowly putting the pieces together. And unlike co-star Kris Polaha, he says producers didn't even give him much of a background his character, Agent Victor Machado.

Our latest collection of stories from The Dark Knight Rises, all in one place…
Production of The Dark Knight Rises continues in Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean that’s where you’re going to find all of the cast right now. And one or two of them have been chatting about the film, as they go about promoting other movies.
Gary Oldman, for instance, is publicising Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy in the UK right now, ahead of its release on Friday (it comes out in the Us in December). Oldman briefly chatted about The Dark Knight Rises to Metro while undertaking promotional work, and he teased that “you’re going to be very happy”.
He did add that it’s a bit frustrating to be going “back and forth on a job”. “When you play someone such as Smiley [his character in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy], you’re there for 12 weeks, you’re working every day”, he added.

'The Dark Knight Rises' is a tough nut to crack. Its crew members are very tight-lipped, worried that director Christopher Nolan will descend upon them like the character he has been perfecting over the past several years. Actor Nestor Carbonell, who reprises his role as Mayor Anthony Garcia in the new film was recently interviewed by MTV. He wasn't at liberty to get too detailed, but he did have a few encouraging things to say. On Nolan and the scale of the film, he said: "He [Nolan] has announced that this is his last go at 'Batman' but yeah, if it is the last for him, he certainly goes out big. It's massive. What I saw of the sets was just unbelievable. When we were shooting a particular scene I snuck around to see the image on the dolly of what the D.P., Wally Pfister, Academy Award Winner [was shooting]. I looked and immediately thought,...

And while a lot of attention is paid to the high profile roles that Batman newcomers Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy and Marion Cotillard are playing, I'm always intrigued about what Christopher Nolan's equally impressive returning cast will be up to.
Take Nestor Carbonell's Mayor Anthony Garcia, for example, who when asked recently about how much action he gets in Christopher Nolan's third and likely final "Batman" flick, said it's hard for him to say, specifically, but we'll be happy with the film regardless.

The casting news for "The Dark Knight Rises" continues to develop this week, with two more actors joining the cast of the much-anticipated third — and final — installment of Christopher Nolan's gritty Batman franchise.

"Lost" fans will likely remember Cullen as Goodwin Stanhope, one of the mysterious Others that the survivors of Oceanic Flight 813 encounter early in the series. He also played Johnny Blaze's father, stunt rider Barton Blaze, in the 2007 film "Ghost Rider."

The Los Angeles Times brings word of an incredibly literal tattoo that helped solve a mysterious murder. “Inked on the pudgy chest of a young Pico Rivera gangster who had been picked up and released on a minor offense was the scene of a 2004 liquor store slaying that had stumped [Los Angeles homicide investigator Kevin] Lloyd for more than four years,” the paper reports. The very detailed tattoo included a tiny anthropomorphized helicopter—an apparent reference to the gentleman’s nickname, “Chopper”—shooting bullets. Chopper, also known as Anthony Garcia, confessed to the murder last week. “I haven’t seen it before, and I haven’t heard of anything like it either,” said Lieutenant Dave Dolson of the damning specificity of the tattoo. Actually, a glance through some obscure police files reveals several other instances of tattoos that provided investigators with invaluable hints.
